I love how dark moon skips the Poltergust 4000 and goes right to 5000 because the Poltergust 4000 was in Mario kart ds. Really makes you question the Mario timeline

Yeah Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon is an underrated gem. 💎 Sure it’s different with its mission structure but as you said exploring the various mansions is really cool, the capturing mechanic is improved, and stuff like the final boss is definitely better than the first game.
I've seen some people say that this game was affected by the "bland era of Mario" and that it was influenced by the New Super Mario Bros. games, but personally, I just don't get where they're coming from.
Sure, the ghost designs may be generic for the most part, but that doesn't mean they're completely without personality. There's a ton of scenes in the game that show them getting up to all sorts of wacky and funny shenanigans, such as the Hider pillow fight and the Greenies playing piggy in the middle with a clock hand. Not to mention, Luigi himself is very expressive and animated in the cutscenes, something you don't really see too often in the regular platformers.
Plus, each mansion is uniquely designed with cool themes that aren't just standard biomes like in the NSMB games. You have haunted towers that have been reclaimed by nature, an abandoned clockwork factory out in the desert, and a mining facility at the top of a snowy mountain. Each area feels distinct and are a ton of fun to explore, with all sorts of secrets and hidden details to discover.
I get not liking the mission structure, E. Gadd calling you non stop, or the fact that you get brought back at the end of every mission. All that stuff if personal preference. But the claim that this game is "bland" and "lacks personality"? Frankly, I just don't see it.
Interesting, I have never heard claim before, but like you said, LM2 is anything but bland! Why do they think LM3 expanded on these creative ideas?
@@jermyxcoolgaming8735 Granted, it's not a very common claim. I've only seen a handful of people say it, but I've seen it anyway and it bothers me nonetheless. People seem to have this idea that the "bland era of Mario" and the New Super Mario Bros. games affected every Mario game that came out during this time, making them more safe and simplified for the most part. While I do see it with games like Paper Mario: Sticker Star and most of the Mario Party games at the time, it just isn't the case with Luigi's Mansion 2. I think people just look at the lack of unique portrait ghosts and immediately call the game bland, which isn't fair at all in my opinion.
While LM2 is the only one rn that has no unique boss GHOSTS (sorry Possessors) It's still very unique in all other things and most certainly stuck out from the "bland era"
compared to luigi's mansion 3 dark moon has interesting and captivating standard ghosts

I feel like the reason games like this can get so much hate is because of the want for another Luigi's mansion just like the original. I'd say it's a good stand alone game, but a unique sequel. (Luigi's mansion still peaked here though.)

Thank you! Finally someone not criticizing the visuals and comparing to 3. The game wasn’t made by Next Level Games so comparing is pointless and unfair. Also it’s called just HD because that’s all it is. The game in HD. Sorry I needed to rant.

hearing everybody have trouble or hate the ice boss honestly makes me wonder how 4 year old me could beat it so easily and was my favorite out of all the bosses and after (kind of) doing 100% of the story mode of the HD remake it was not as fun then when I was a kid so yeh

Dark Moon is my favorite out of the bunch. I tried out the first Luigi's Mansion and personally disliked it.
Haven't tried the third one as I don't own it yet, but I wanna try it out before I have a full on opinion.
I do recommend it! It's practically builds off 2s mechanics without the pacing problems
