Exactly. I can understand it if people find it annoying in the first mansion, but people seriously exaggerate it as if it persists throughout the entire game.
I'm so glad someone else shares the opinion that LM2 is an underrated gem - I loved it so much I created an iceberg for it, and its refreshing to hear an opinion that isn't crapping all over it. I love all 3 games, but it increasingly feels like there are less and less people who like the second game for some reason.
I played dark moon when it came out, its just not a good game. There's a very clear reason as to why its a common opinion, GameCube luigis mansion was a lightning in the bottle type game that was very unique, dark moon legit not only failed as a sequel but to a lesser extent a videogame. A very bland mission based game with zero atmosphere or originality from the original, its honestly barely even comparable.
THIS IS MY CHILDHOOD EVEN THOUGH I COULDNT BEAT THE FIRST BOSS The best part of the game is Luigi's emotions, expressions, and movement. I love how his personality shines through in each cutscene. He's so goofy in this game.
1st boss and 4th boss gave me the most trouble. the spider boss used a lot of puzzles which me, an 11 year old kid, couldn't complete on my own, and the 4th boss has a huge learning curve to it considering it used a mechanic that has never been used in the luigi's mansion series.
Same. When I was a kid I couldn't figure out the puzzle. And for the 3rd boss I didn't understand the clock puzzle so it took me a year to beat it. The 4th boss is also hard because it's a completely new mechanic
The same question that I ask the fan base, cus this game is a masterpiece and my first Luigi mansion game and one of the best 3ds games ever. Almost every 1st party 3ds game gets so much hate from their respective fanbases. When some are actually really good like dark moon, smash 4, oras, 3d land, Mario kart 7. One guy literally made a crappy article on google about forcing us to admit the 3ds and its library are both garbage!!! A lot of people just say "no atmosphere" and "mission bad" without actually giving it a chance. I actually like the missions, as it lets you replay bosses instead of having to spend 13 hours replaying the game to refight a boss (looking at you, 3).
Im not going to lie, when i first played this game, i was actually terrified, i mean.....The spiders just pop out of nowhere......i dont care what other people say, in my opinion this is the best one, first i used to be obsessed with the music, library piano, gloomy manor, treaturous mansion, heck i even made fanart and fan stories, even an idea for a sequel, my favorite ghost is the poltergeist, which i dont care what they are called, to me their brainiacs........so to hear this game is getting a remake, I cryed with joy. I love this game, and no one can change my mind.
I was 12 when this game came out but i had already played LM1 countless times so I was disappointed how this game didn’t capture the same vibe as the first game along with its mission structure and soundtrack.
I loved the first game. While I wouldn't say I disliked Dark Moon, I was mildly disappointed by the lighter tone, weaker atmosphere, and constant intertuptions, and felt very mixed on the mission structure. Not a bad game, but a game I wished was just a little bit better. Having played 3 over the last two weeks, I have a whole new respect for Dark Moon because I REALLY didn't like 3. Dark Moon wasn't perfect, but it was a solid 7.5/10 IMO. I don't understand how anyone could say they dislike Dark Moon but that they love 3, but to each their own. Glad to see someone else appreciating Dark Moon!
I might be biased here, but I feel like Dark Moon gets too much flack. I’ve loved it since I was 8 and still love it to this day. I have yet to play the other two, but Dark Moon will always be my favorite since it’s very nostalgic to me. Hope more people at least give it a chance once the Switch port drops
I love luigis mansion dark moon. Sure it doesnt pay in one manor but the 5 different aesthetic Mix it up Well... LM3 is chopped into too small Segments tho imo... dark moon also has the best ghost Designs imo. The ones im the first game Look just kinda... Weirdly shaped and the ones in 3 Look too... Geometric and clean.
All I’m going to say is I was born near the time it came out so I didn’t have any other options(that is portable) to use and well I loved it and recently me and my dad before it came on the switch we would use the 3DS and we would call two greenies “The turkey bois of ninety seven” because they both had turkeys

I can't wait for the upcoming of luigis mansion 2 HD I can't wait and luigis mansion dark moon was my first favorite game in the 3ds
The reason is because luigi's mansion one was always nostalgic for people, and 3 is better, but now people who had remembered dark moon from their childhood are starting to turn the tables
THIS IS THE BEST OF THE BEST!!!IT'S MY FAVORITE GAME OF ALL TIME!!!IT HAS THE BEST MUSIC IN THE SIRIES,AMAZING GRAFICS ON THE 3DS FOR IT'S TIME AND PROBABLY EVEN NOW!!!!!!IT DEFINETLY DESERVES THAT REMAKE......AND.......I..........AM......................SO EXCITED FOR IT'S RELEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!
For me it's not the same as the original and snow, and having different mansions seemed cool but they just used steam punk vibes and made it a bit boring but it's still a worthy game to play ❤
I don’t hate this game. I haven’t played it since I was a teenager but I remember enjoying it. I do however dislike the angular art direction this game started and Luigi’s mansion 3 (to a slightly lesser extent) continued with. I miss the more ornate, slightly warped haunted house full of semi realistic antiques direction of the first game. The new games look very (south park) canadian. Idk how to explain it better than that
In the original game we could play through the whole mansion. It was a Metroidvania game when you really think about it. In Luigi’s Mansion 2 we do some missions/explore parts of the mansion and then we go to egad and then we go on to the next stage. If it was the first game it wouldn’t be as hated. The first game set a big standard. Sometimes less is more.
Just played 2 and a half hours playing hunter endless with one other random dude scarescraper. Got to 43 floors before getting a bug that stopped me from progressing
The original is my overall favorite, but Dark Moon feels the best to control, and I like its combat the most. It’s Scarescrapet had download play, which made multiplayer much easier to be able to play as well.
Simple, it wasn't 1; it wasn't spooky like 1, it wasn't "open" like 1, it didn't look like 1, it wasn't dark like 1, it didn't sound like 1 and therefore it's automatically bad because of it. Same "issues" are brought to the third game and they're just as dumb there as they are here
Problem: it isn’t lm1 Solution: it isn’t lm1 Why does it have to be the same as 1? Why is it illegal for a sequel to differ artistically and mechanically from the first game. Just because it is different doesn’t mean it can’t have its own charms. Ps. I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic or not
@@jcsmith4324 it’s a perfectly valid reason not to like it. I’m just saying it’s ridiculous to call it an objectively bad game just because it’s different than lm1. That doesn’t mean it’s not valid to dislike it for that reason.
The only reason why people were excited for 2 was because of what the first game did. It would be like if you made the best pizza ever and I compliment how good it is so you promise to make it again next week but make it completely differently and doesn’t taste nearly as good.
I just thought "Wouldn't it be great, if you could use the multiplayer over cross-platform with both the switch and a 3Ds coppy of the game? so that people with the old game and an old 3Ds could play it together?"
2:40 THATS WHAT I'M ALWAYS SAYING. I ALWAYS WONDER HOW THEY SAY THIS IN UNIVERSE WHEN THEY ALWAYS MENTION CONTROLS!!!! I'd assume here's how it would go "You can run by speeding up your pace when walking. Now get a move on!" Anyways, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought about that.
Level based instead of open world mansion like in the first game was my biggest disappointment. Doesn’t matter whether those leaves had more to offer. The sheer exploring of a whole mansion was beyond incredible in the first gsme. I also vaguely remember the lack of checkpoints in dark moon and how when you lost, you had to start over practically from the beginning!
Nah, You are not alone. I have played this game 100% like 5 or 6 times and i want to get it on HD on Switch. Is my favourite Luigis Mansion because it felt so good how the puzzles were. I know 3 is better but idc, this is still my favourite. And i never liked those very personified ghosth, I loved the more childlish ones from 2. On my top 5 games EVERRRRRRR
It's literally my favorite game in the series! Personally, I think it has the best combat system with the pulse charge set up (or whatever it's called) and I honestly, though I love the game, think that the slamming mechanic in the 3rd game is way too overpowered honestly and it also takes away from the struggle of fighting ghosts because in the first two games, the ghosts, especially when going after several at a time can drag you around the room where as in the 3rd, that only ever happens really if you're deliberately not using the slam, and I find that a bit disappointing. Especially when using the slam also automatically makes you loose your ghost when fighting the one's with higher health like whatever the giant red brick ghosts are called.
I think that when people hear about exploring a creepy mansion, a mission system is not exactly what they have in mind. True, the mission system is better suited for short sessions of handheld gameplay, even Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days did it (and yes, I know it has a stupid name). The problem is that people, I assume, pick this game to play it at their own place and go exploring for secrets and lore. I know that’s what I want from these games… when I will be able to afford buying them.
The first and third one not even come close to the fun that you have catching ghosts in this game. That's without even taking note of the actual atmosphere of the game, which I think is also the best of the trilogy
Basically its because of how hand holdy it is, terrible bosses, and lack of unique characters. It was also pretty generic which was a problem a lot of Mario games at the time had(Yoshi's new Island, Paper Jam, 3D Land, NSMB 2, Mario tennis open, Sports superstars and etc.)
@@3dsfan2002 No, but at the same time, their not really the series at its best either. Don't get me wrong, their good in their own right but they were clearly held back in what they could do. (Also being generic was kind of the whole problem with the games during that era).
I like dark moon though I much prefer 1 and 3 each for their own unique features. Dark moon felt like the nsmb of luigis mansion 1 changing the tone a lot.
I think is a really good game, good graphics, good controls, the mansions designs are very good. Probably the problem of this game to me, is the mission system, you select a mission and you do an objective and come back to the laboratory, so everything I just did in this last mission has been reseted, so, I don’t like that, like just played for 30 mins and my progress has been lost in some kind of way. I completed the mission, but the doors I opened, the switches I activated everything is reset. Also the mission grades of 1 to 3 stars, makes me want to get the 3 stars, and I keep repeting the same stage over and over and gets tiring. If they made like a big exploration and connected the mansions by a main road and they took off the mission I would really love this game. I liked it but, I got tired of it very fast.
I don’t hate it. It’s just that it was really hyped up, especially by me and other fans that grew up on the original GameCube game over 2 decades ago. I expected a great sequel, but I found myself disappointed. What made me dislike it most was the mission-based structure pulling me away from the house all the time when I just wanted to explore the mansions without having to leave all the time. And the lack of a second analog stick or circle pad pro support made the controls more difficult than they should’ve been. Ultimately I find that the game was held back by the hardware which caused those 2 major flaws I pointed out

It’s more polarizing to be honest, I strongly love this game, but the people that hate it get more clout and attention and it infuriates me

"why does everybody hate luigi's mansion dark moon?"

"What made luigi's mansion dark moon is a masterpiece?"
SILENCE!
Dark Moon was my first, it'll always be my favorite.
I was 12 when this game came out but i had already played LM1 countless times so I was disappointed how this game didn’t capture the same vibe as the first game along with its mission structure and soundtrack.
Exactly my thoughts
One of my favorite games, one of my first 3ds games too.
The blue ones are hiders not sneakers
Ah yes…of course…hiders… glad I made that joke hinging on their name being sneakers.
@@CafeCharlie that joke was funny
I love luigis mansion dark moon. Sure it doesnt pay in one manor but the 5 different aesthetic Mix it up Well... LM3 is chopped into too small Segments tho imo... dark moon also has the best ghost Designs imo. The ones im the first game Look just kinda... Weirdly shaped and the ones in 3 Look too... Geometric and clean.
Dark Moon is so underrated
All I’m going to say is I was born near the time it came out so I didn’t have any other options(that is portable) to use and well I loved it and recently me and my dad before it came on the switch we would use the 3DS and we would call two greenies “The turkey bois of ninety seven” because they both had turkeys
I thought everyone loved this game
BRO I DONT WANNA HEAR ANY HATERS OF LUIGI MANSION 2 THE DARK MOON it was my first luigi game ever it was my childhood. I want my 3ds back to play luigi's mansion the dark moon until I realized it comes out this year im so excited! It was my favorite ever since I was little and yet I still love it.
I love Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon. I’ve had so many fun memories of it.
LM2 is still a game I really love, even after playing the HD version it still very much is an extremely solid and fun game
Man this one’s my favorite. And I’m getting the remake as soon as it comes out
I don’t hate this game. Idk how to explain it better than that
Blue ghosts are hiders the Pink ones are Sneakers
i never got to beat it because my 3ds disappeared but it was my favorite game on the 3ds
Well if you have a nintendo switch i have good news for you!
5:51 They're called Hiders, the pink ghosts are called Sneakers.
FINALLY, FOUND SOMEONE WHO NOTICED THE MISTAKE
Why does everybody hate this game? That doesn't make any sense. 😢
Mum, mum! Look I found a youtuber with great commentary and editing!
It's my second favorite Luigi's mansion game and my most replayed Luigi's mansion game.
Just played 2 and a half hours playing hunter endless with one other random dude scarescraper. Got to 43 floors before getting a bug that stopped me from progressing
Wait, wait, how can I get online?
“Why does everyone hate Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon?”
Me: Who is everyone, and why do they matter?
The original is my overall favorite, but Dark Moon feels the best to control, and I like its combat the most. It’s Scarescrapet had download play, which made multiplayer much easier to be able to play as well.
I’m playing this currently and having a blast!
Simple, it wasn't 1; it wasn't spooky like 1, it wasn't "open" like 1, it didn't look like 1, it wasn't dark like 1, it didn't sound like 1 and therefore it's automatically bad because of it. Same "issues" are brought to the third game and they're just as dumb there as they are here
Problem: it isn’t lm1
Solution: it isn’t lm1
Why does it have to be the same as 1? Why is it illegal for a sequel to differ artistically and mechanically from the first game. Just because it is different doesn’t mean it can’t have its own charms.
Ps. I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic or not
@@some_guy79 I am. I find the argument that Dark Moon "isn't good" cause it's "not like the original" to be just as dumb as you do
@@some_guy79just cause there's no requirement for it to be like the first game doesn't mean that isn't a valid reason to dislike it.
I grew up watching videos of this game and I really wanted it tbh. (I didn’t have a 3ds sadly :()

THATS WHAT I'M ALWAYS SAYING. I ALWAYS WONDER HOW THEY SAY THIS IN UNIVERSE WHEN THEY ALWAYS MENTION CONTROLS!!!!
I'd assume here's how it would go
"You can run by speeding up your pace when walking. Now get a move on!"
Anyways, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought about that.
dark moon is my favorite luigi’s mansion game and one of my favorite 3DS games
Level based instead of open world mansion like in the first game was my biggest disappointment. Doesn’t matter whether those leaves had more to offer. The sheer exploring of a whole mansion was beyond incredible in the first gsme. I also vaguely remember the lack of checkpoints in dark moon and how when you lost, you had to start over practically from the beginning!
The ghost designs in 2 are my favorite by far.
Charlie, I actually like Luigi‘s mansion, dark Moon and I think it’s one of the best Luigi games out there
Nah, You are not alone.
Joke’s on you haters, we’re getting the game on the Switch😎
You show then 😆
i pretty much liked and subscribe just for "now who has the darkest moon"
Dark Moon is my favourite luigi's mansion game too
i dunno but i tried to play it last night and fell asleep with my 3ds in my hands after about an hour.
I don’t. It was the only Luigi’s mansion I had access to and I loved it!
The first and third one not even come close to the fun that you have catching ghosts in this game. That's without even taking note of the actual atmosphere of the game, which I think is also the best of the trilogy
Pretty sure Luigi's entire house is one of the ones you could earn in LM1 just in the art style of LM2+3.
3d land and dark moon are exceptions, 3ds had good Mario games
@@3dsfan2002 Not really. 3D Land is about as generic as you can get for Mario and Dark Moon really only had returning characters and a dog.
@@Mymy_64 they are not bad games, generic isn’t an issue
@@3dsfan2002 No, but at the same time, their not really the series at its best either. Don't get me wrong, their good in their own right but they were clearly held back in what they could do.
(Also being generic was kind of the whole problem with the games during that era).
@@Mymy_64 Mario 3ds games are just underrated and Pokémon 3ds is overhated
I first got this game when I was FOUR YEARS OLD in 2015
1:28 the whole house is actually a reference to luigi's mansion 1!
I like dark moon though I much prefer 1 and 3 each for their own unique features. Dark moon felt like the nsmb of luigis mansion 1 changing the tone a lot.
music, combat, puzzles, and purpose in dark moon are peak so haters you better change your perspective
Ultimately I find that the game was held back by the hardware which caused those 2 major flaws I pointed out
I love this game it was my child hood it's how into Luigi's Mansion series!
