  • How to install a BALL FLOAT VALVE for an overhead water storage tank so that you make your water tank fully automatic: water is automatically shut-off when the tank is full and water is automatically let in when the water level drops. This video also covers the installation of a PVC BALL SHUT-OFF VALVE at the base of the tank as a fail-safe mechanism to allow repair and maintenance on the ball float valve in the water tank.

      Water always takes the path of least resistance. Make sure your intake pipe is at the top of the first tank. And the pipes connecting the rest are also near the top of the succeeding tanks.

    1) How long should the float valve be for house water tanks (sits on a tower that's about 10 feet, the house is a one storey one)?
    2) How many wraps of Teflon tape did it take?
    3) I noticed your tape measure is worn out, I'd like to suggest this amazing tape measure which has a laser rangefinder as well (it has a built-in area, volume & right angle triangle pytagoras calculator for squares & rectangles and measures in metric and even feet in fractions), it's pricey but it's designed for the markings not to fade coz' there are raised dimples (like a Teflon cookware) to resist scratches and will last a lifetime: Mileseey DT20 (this also eliminates the guessing when the measurement has fractions because as you extend the tape measure, the LCD displays the exacts measurement similar to a digital caliper- I recommend the all metal General brand digital caliper which can be had locally at Panda Construction Supply Incorporated near SM Sta. Mesa or pandatools on Google. General only not the Groz-General or Groz only one). The tape measure's metal is the best, better than my old Stanley.
    (you may be tempted to buy the lower models of the Mileseey but I have the lower model I wish I bought the DT20). It's available on popular local online shopping sites that has delivery. You may be tempted to buy similar but different brands, it's best not to do that, Mileseey has the best laser measurement precision, perfect for really long measurements like wall to wall or floor to ceiling.
    4) recommending stainless bracing for for your pipes (I've tried zip ties too, it'll break the pipe overtime, it has to be stainless metal bracings and is solid as a rock), perhaps the ones near your floor, create another angle so it touches your wall, the top part, the one with the valve, hire a welding machine weld stainless steel metal or rod so you you can brace that part with stainless steel bracing
    God bless. Rev. 21:4

      Did you mean, "How HIGH should the water tank be for a 1-storey house?" If so, the water tank (as a rule of thumb) must always be higher than any of your pipelines. This is why for commercial buildings, water tanks are commonly installed on the roof deck. Water will always go down and take the path of least resistance. As for my zip ties, they are still intact even after 3 years (and I don't need to worry about corrosion). Thanks for the measuring tape tip -- I have bought 2 new ones long ago :)

      Kung yung water tank mo is pressurized (enclosed), yung pressure switch na dapat ang mag stop nung water (by cutting power from your pump motor) pag na reach na yung set pressure inside the tank. Pero if your water tank is open like ours, then the float valve is your solution.

      Hi Mark! The float valve will work with the "blue drums" here in the Philippines -- you'll just need to make a hole just below the brim of the drum for the valve to fit through. I bought the float valve from Lazada. You can find the link in the "Products | Tools" section in the Description.

    this will fill the tank as intended when the gate valve under the tank is closed. when the gate valve under the tank is open it will overflow with water coming back in thru that gate valve. adding a check valve between the gate valve and the tee connector will prevent this overflow :)

    • @HanDIYman007
      @HanDIYman007  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Joey, you raise a very good point because when we leave the gate valve under the tank open when there's water coming from the main line, the pressure pushes water back through that same open gate valve under tank. This is why we only open the gate valve whenever water supply is interrupted from the main line and close it when there's normal water supply. By adding a check valve between the gate valve and the t-connector under the tank, it will make the entire system truly automatic (i.e. we will not need to manually open/close the gate valve regardless if there's water interruption or not). Great idea! I will make a video on this soon.

    • @38crack
