This really struck a chord with me. I was a self-employed heating installer who was desperate to transition from installing gas boilers to installing heat pumps. Over a 3 year period I paid for and completed the BPEC heat pump installation course, attended numerous manufacturers training courses and completed the excellent Heat Geek course. It was at that point the realisation hit home that as a sole trader I'd never be able to set aside the time to complete the mountain of paperwork involved in accessing the relevant grants for my prospective customers. I'm now working for Aira and thoroughly enjoying putting my skills and knowledge into practice while being supported by a group of very committed colleagues. Listening to Matt Isherwood has reinforced my opinion that I've made the right decision and I look forward to seeing my colleagues becoming fellow Heat Geeks.

Matt Isherwood, why can I NOT get hold of the performance numbers for your heatpump anywhere??
I asked at the Installer show and no one knew what they were and were not available.
The data available on the MCS database is over-simplified and doesn't provide SCOP's at different Air & Water Temperatures.
I emailed Aira on 3 separate occasions requesting this data and have never heard anything back.
    ??WHY IS THIS NOT AVAILABLE??
Also we had a quote from Aira before you launched your own product - so were quoted Vaillant - I found the documents to be incredibly difficult to work through and actually see how the ASHP would perform in our property.
In addition talking to your installer at the Installer show they were adamant that Buffer Tanks should be used - as per the MI's" but as we have seen time and time again buffer vessels should only be used where they are actually needed.
Now you have some sort of relationship with Heat Geek will you revise your installation practices?

I spoke to Aira about my house (229sqm dormer bungalow), and they told me they couldn't help me.

All ok if you don't have gas if you do stick with it for now

Deluded. "We want to get the housewife when she needs a new boiler". Heat Geek "that'll be £375 non returnable for a quote" and, in my case, a lead time of 12 weeks.

Unless you work for this company you will get bored and leave well before any information is relayed. I did.
