Agreed. I've been watching him since he was a kid on the Disney Channel. I told my 6 yr old back then that he was going to be a star actor. He's an amazing talent and yes he's underrated.
Sin City is one of my favorite films to come from comic books. I miss the time when I could look at the weekly list of movies coming out and pick out a dozen then just stop and pick them up once a week and then be surprised by the Indie or Foreign films the manager would pull in addition for me. It wasn't abnormal to come home with 15 or 20 DvDs a week and curate shelfish-stacks all over the house... Just browsing video stores in LA and stumbling onto an interesting cover or a juicy flick description. I have to say your channel fills that void, you throw out stuff that gets overlooked sometimes giving it that feeling of finding that obscure DvD that has been missed by the masses but deserves love all the same. Thanks for doing such a great job, it's good to know young writers and thinkers are stepping into those niches that us older folks leave to seek hammocks in Key West with glossy sunsets and Hemingway's toes. I loved working as a staff writer, but I don't miss the 20 hour days and throwing luggage and my body over fences to make a flight with frozen fingers and toes.... 🧡
I literally just rewatched it. I've included it too many times since they added it to repeat it again in this ranking list but it deserved to be mentioned at least.
Avengement and Killing Them Softly were great recommendations I have gotten from you that I would never have watches on my own and now recommend to so many people. I feel like I have slept on Drive for so long and think it is finally time to sit down and watch it. Great list as always💯
"The Guest" WOW, how did I miss that film?! Easily, one of my favorites and well worth the watch. Can't say anything, because seriously don't want to give anything away. Thanks for this pick.
I’ve only seen 3 movies on this list - Hostiles, 24 hours to live, and Drive. I liked them all but Hostiles was my favorite. I think I’ll try Hostage or Cop Car next. Thank you for this list
I thought the guest was great from beginning to end, would never had known about it without this video, I have watched most of these movies on the list, all very good to great. Most are so good it is hard for me to rank. Thanks for the excellent video.
Awsome video as always Mr. Van dam. Hostage is awesome. Ben Foster plays his role really good. Blood father was surprisingly good. Hostiles is a very good western flick. The patriot is a classic obviously. Killing them softly definitely a good watch. Den of theves is bad ass. American assassin is cool too.
Three film makers we're not supposed to like: Woody Allen, Roman Polanski, and Mel Gibson. The PC gods won't forgive me (they are the least forgiving of gods), but I thoroughly enjoy the works of all three. Would I like these men in life outside of their work? Perhaps not. They don't need to be my buddies to be among the best at what they do.
I love Sin City when I first saw it and will always love it. It's absolutely a great movie. I've made comments before on things you talked about and this was a good list. I saw a comment below that mentioned Polar and that was a great movie for me. Out of all the movies, I haven't seen 7 of them so I will be watching them along with a few others that I'd love to see again. Great list Darren, I'm really enjoying hearing you speak about the movies. Thank you, have a great time watching. Stay safe and healthy - Anna Banana Big smile here.
"The Old Guard" with Charlize Theron was just added this week, pretty good movie: A group of mercenaries, all centuries-old immortals with the ablity to heal themselves, discover someone is onto their secret, and they must fight to protect their freedom.
You have a great way of treating the viewer with curtesy & sincere respect. It is really very nice to see & definitely a good example for the rest of all media & media platforms. Thanks for your pleasant nature & true understanding of movie entertainment! Lots of respect.
Cool fact: Act of Valor, used real SEALs, and during the part where the boats come to pick them up, they used REAL ammo.... if you ever wanted to hear a real mini-gun... crank it up for that part!!!
Yeah she's a stud. I'd love to see her in a big superhero movie. She'd be a great Wonder Woman even though I really dig Gal Gadot. Maybe some other comic book hero, but I can't think of she could be cast as???
Thanks DVD another great bunch of flicks to catch up on I will check most of them out when I get time , your recommendations are very accurate I trust them so am looking forward to watching them.ps drive ,the foreigner, blood father, all superb movies thanks again
Watched The Guest a few months ago on your reccomendation, so freaking good. Knew the main character from Legion and the man who created christmas, but man is he someone I'm watching anything he's in now. Great list as always, got a few more added to the queue. Still batting near 1000.

Really excited about "The Guest." Keep up the awesome work!!
The guest is one of my favorites. Awesome movie. I own it and make everyone watch it. Lol Cop car & Blood Father were also great. Tom Hardy😍😍😍 I wish he was twins. Both of his movies were decent. I will check out the others. Thanks
You know what Van Damme...you're freaking killing me with this one! I've seen a few, Legend of course, Hostiles, Sin City...but I am having a hell of a time deciding what to watch. I think I'm going to start with...Cop Car. I ♥️me some 🥓🥓🥓
nice list I havnt seen many on here actually. I liked act of valor and American assassin. that's about the only movies ive seen on here. hostage was good but I don't really remember it. avengement looks awesome def gonna check I tout.
Lawless is one of my Favorites The Whole movie blends really well for me Thanks for the videos, im catching up now. Crazy times these days Stay Safe Brother!
In case you're unaware, 'Legend' is a biopic, based on the real life, notorious Kray brothers, Reggie and Ronnie Kray. I mention this because Darren did not, and it's an important point, given a lot of people are proably going to watch this movie, expecting something akin to a Guy Ritchie film. It's brilliant, but a different kind of brilliant. Massive thank you for the Tom Hardy recommendations. Having just finished watching Peaky Blinders, and having seen Bronson previously, it was my intention to seek out other examples of his work. He's mind-blowingly good as Alfie Solomons!!
I was so surprised in that movie when it came out that they were both swinging from both teams cuz I thought it was just the one I wonder if they took some liberties with that. Whatever it was great and watching him fight himself was freaking amazing
@@chrislair6832 They ALWAYS take some liberties for dramatic effect, and for narrative convenience. Great list as always. Cop Car and Hostiles have been on my must watch list for awhile. Anyone who might doubt Tom Hardy’s abilities as an actor needs to watch Legends; he is that good.
Thanks for the lists... Your taste is definitely up my alley and I'm glad I found you a while back. You've turned me on to quite a few films I probably would have missed or overlooked. Ben Foster is hands down one of the best and most underrated actors today. That dude can sell a scene.
Hell or High water was epic

Check out Hostiles with Ben Foster as another "bad guy"
He would be a fantastic joker...His performance in 30 days of night is proof. Giovanni ribisi is great too and would also be an awesome joker.

Just got done watching The Guest based on your recommendation. Great call my friend. The soundtrack is legit too
End Of Watch is such a great flick. Michael Peña is amazing.
He was great in Shooter too, I recently revisited.
I love the scene where he takes off his badge... LOL square up hommie
He was fantastic in this movie. Great in Shooter as well
I have never heard of most of these. You just made my weekend. Thanks👍
The guest is one of my guaranteed October watches, love it.
"The Guest" WOW, how did I miss that film?! Easily, one of my favorites and well worth the watch. Can't say anything, because seriously don't want to give anything away. Thanks for this pick.
One of the most under rated films of the current era.

You forgot to mention “Polar”. I haven’t seen all of the movies on your list, but the ones I have seen “Polar” was more badass than those! 😉
Felt like I've repeated it too often but yes, it could have easily fit on this list too
Polar was insanely entertaining, but nowhere as violent as the night comes for us
Flick Connection and Deadmau5 did the soundtrack! One of the best concerts I have ever been to! 😍
