I think he’s using Indian and British accent just to, like, make it clear that at that moment he’s speaking as Indian or as Britain.
It’s kinda heartbreaking how some people thought he’s making fun of their accent and stuff because he’s actually one of the kindest standup comedian, he even says “You should travel the world to see how small you are, learn their culture, their accent. It’s not that hard, it’s just another accent. But first, you have to understand that accents doesn’t define that that person’s stupid or smart, in fact, they’re just speaking your language in the rules of theirs.”
(It’s not 100% accurate but it’s still based on what he says. I’m just shortening some words up. And he says ppl should study other accent because he’s talking about how one word can be written and/or spoken in a very different way based on the rules of that person’s mother language, so, learning how to speak in their accent helps communicating becomes more accurate and also way easier than to learn a whole new language but both are still communicable.)

In Arabic, spices are called "Buharat". In Indonesia, 'west' is called "Bhaarat". Our greatest epic is "Mahabhaarat".
And that is because India's original name was "Bhaarat-Bhoomi", which translates to "The land of the Bharatas".
And "Bhaaratas" were descendant of a famous emperor- Bharat. Bhaaratas were people who dwelled on the east of Indus river- which we called "Sindhu" in the Vedic times. Interestingly, in Chinese India is called "Shindu".
The Persians/Iranians who used to live on the west of Sindhu river couldn't pronounce the 's' sound. So they used to call as "Hindu", and named our country "Hindustan". By the way, "Iran" comes from "Aryan" .
From "Hindu" it became "Indus" in the Greek texts. That was the name of the river in their language which kind of, stuck. And the Greeks hence coined the name "India".

Also he has said he bases his accents based on people he knows in real life, so to Achara's point, it could be an Indian in South Africa that he learned it from.

In Persian language, there is no "Sh" sound. So they used to call "Sindhu" river and all lands beyond as "Hindu"/"Hindi" and "Hindustan". Persians used to trade/war with Greek , and Hindi/Hindu became "Ind" + Greek suffixes like, -ia, -us, -ic. So, India, Indus, Indic etc.

Ganapathyam (people who worship Vinayak) as true one god. Kaumaram or skantam who believe Muruga as one true god. Since vedha doesn't say that one true doesn't exists.that doesn't means we should not have right to follow. Do we still practice the rites and rituals posed in Vedas without any excuses. No we slightly change and evolve with it. One true doesn't mean other gods are fake. We show more interest on one particular god and occasionally we pray other gods. Either a family is devotees of shakti or other Goddess that does means they tend stop believing in one god. They like shakti as their predominant god and others comes to next priority. Gods won't be angry if like one god and doesn't like other. They will get angry once you start abuse in the name of the God and disrespectful to other god's believer.

I don’t know how to explain this to western people. But I think technically, there is no definitive “Indian accent”.
English is spoken all over india but people belonging to different states or regions may sometimes have dramatically different accents. So much so that even other Indians may find it different and difficult to understand in extreme cases.
Like a Gujarati person speaking English will have a wayyyy different accent than a South Indian person or Bengali Person speaking English.
To add to it, a Gujarati person who is brought up in Mumbai may have a very different English accent than a Gujarati person who is brought up in some other state or region (say Bangalore, Karnataka). And the same goes for all other people - North Indians, South Indians, Bengalis and so on. I guess, going by that measure, India may have a greater variety of English accents than US or the UK 😅
8:15 .... I think so too Jaby.... you’re probably right. There is a huge South Indian population spread out in US particularly those working in IT Companies and I also feel most of the US people equate “South Indian” English accent with “Indian accent”.

Thank you for this reaction video, Jaby, Achara! Trevor is one of my favourite comics. Interesting, as always.
Many have already commented about the origin of the various names for India. Based off of what Achara said about Indians knowing "what a horse looked like", I'd like to take this moment to draw your attention to a recent discovery regarding the presence of these animals in ancient India.
It had long been believed by British and other European archaeologists and historians that ancient India didn't have horses or horse-drawn chariots (since they had never found evidence of these) and that ancient epics such as the Ramayan and the Mahabharat, which depicted the use of these animals were therefore merely fictional. They theorized that horses were in fact brought over by the Persians (Iranians) in what they called the 'Aryan invasion'. However, in 2005-06, a happenstance archaeological dig in the small village of Sinauli in the state of Uttar Pradesh brought to light evidence of chariots buried in the soil. These digs have since been carbon-dated to date over 4000 years back to the Harappan or late Harappan age.
Obviously, this would mean that the British and European archaeologists were wrong and that India's history books will have to be rewritten.
Neeraj Pandey has recently filmed and produced a documentary titled 'Secrets of Sinauli' which is about this very interesting new discovery. It would be great if you guys could actually do a review of this docuseries. An added attraction is the compering by Manoj Bajpayee.
