yes they are. the crkt m series knifes were my defense knifes for 10years or so, still love those knives, but if i am sticking a blade in something i wanted another 2 inches of penetration or reach. these cold steal knifes can go from concealed in pocket to flesh so fast my attacker wont even know what hit them. i really really hope i dont have to use any of them, dying by huge knife wound would not be the way to go for anything or anyone attacking me, but i have seen too many dog and human attackers not submit unless lethally wounded, especially dogs, and i love dogs, but i only like humans lol

It's stopped a full grown 100+ pound German shepherd from going after my neighbor. DEAD in his tracks! It was my friends dog. I'm glad I didn't have to shoot the family dog in front of his kids. It stops a bear, it'll stop a dog. It's good to have. Non lethal "if" you have that choice...
Aus 10A is amazing. Has very decent fine razor edge holding. Feels like 14c28n or vg10 when sharpening. Almost like CPM154 as well. I would choose it over many other blade steels
The edge of the knife oxidizes and does actually dull over time. Apparently a razor sharp knife loses about 50% of its edge in just 24 hours once it’s exposed to oxygen (taken out of bag after buying)
Can you believe that I live in a country where you are not allowed to defend yourself! It's a great knife, but not for sale in the Netherlands and if you had it it's illegal! So there's no point owning it, the cops will protect you if they happen to be around, but they're only around if I'm driving a mile too fast!!!
I just got the CP XL. I wanted a bigger self defense blade than my Cold Steel AK47 folding knife which is a great knife btw. My EDC gear is a handgun on my right hip, spare mags on my left hip or a couple speed strips in my shirt pocket depending on what kind of gun I feel like carrying, defense blade in my right front pocket with my phone, a Victorinox Hercules and my keys in my left front pocket, a stream light pro Tac flashlight on my left, and wallet in the back pocket. If I decide to carry anymore gear I will need to get a bag lol. But as of right now it works. I pity the fool that tries to harm me! Lol

@@jasonbrown467 hey man, a lot of people don't know that basic nail polish is pretty tough and durable. Enamel paint is enamel paint and, if you put a clear coat (nail polish too) on your finished work it'll come out pretty damn nice AND durable! Just make sure you sand the shine off so that the paint will stick and you can basically put as many coats on it as you want. They'll look like they came with the knife too lol. Have at it and good luck!
If you sharpen your knives you can use your knives and still have sharp knives, I straight up abused my medium luzon throwing it and it hitting a rock I took about 20 min with my worksharp field sharpener and it is back to shaving sharp
sorry im just now getting back to you. nope, i have had no problems with that point being so close to being exposed when the knife is closed. the triad lock system not only seems rock solid on locking it open, but its the same mechanism that keeps spring tension on keeping it closed. its my favorite self defense knife. i have heard of other people having knifes open in their pockets but its when they have quilions/flippers/hand gaurds and then shove the knife into their pocket not using the pocket clip.
i am sorry, i dont understand. can you give me a time stamp? i suspect you may be talking about the snaggle tooth thing maybe? it snags your pocket on the way out therefore opening the blade as it comes out of the pocket
i think its a "snaggle tooth mf", if you provide a time stamp i can tell you exactly what it is, but i am pretty sure thats the only thing i have done to any thumb stud. what it does is snag the corner of your pocket as you pull it out of your pocket snapping it open all in one motion. it makes the knife even more awesome. some folks call this "waving" in case you hadnt heard of this before. gerber or someone back in the day put a notch on the back of the blade similar to this snaggle tooth thing, that did the same thing. i think i made an entire long video installing it and demonstrating how simple yet affective it is.
maybe i should have clarified better in the video. when i said i dont use it, i mean i carry it everyday, but it touches nothing by my attackers so its as sharp has it can be. cutting boxes and packing tape is for my edc otfs
@Jesus Christ i have never been attacked, but after moving into my new house i discoved one of the houses near by has constant traffic and parties. i suspect drugs based on the behavior and crazy hours they produce all that noise. one time while i was walking towards the alley to take out the trash, i saw a grown man and woman fist fighting in the alley, there must have been 20 people back there, i saw the one dude punch the girl and she falls over into a pile of trash. this is a nice neighborhood except that one house where most of the trouble comes from is a rental and anything goes there i guess
@Jesus Is Immanuel i am in almost the same boat. but i get threats of violence from the occasional meth head from the zombies that roam my neighborhood way too often, which is crazy at my age now. i would have thought people would be more prone to attack me when i was younger. when they run their mouth i just stair back waiting their initial attack, luckily hasnt happened yet, and the split second they make their move they will feel my sting in one smooth motion. until that day i just keep a big and fast knife on me at all times, even to just check the mail, mow the yard etc etc. also every idiot in my neigh hood has s pit bull, i love dogs by the way, buta 2.5 inch blade isnt going to cut it, pun intended. anyways i feel the same way about the luzon, if i didnt have two xp xl's or ti lites, i would carry the luzon understanding that the lock sucks and can start to close if i snap it open too hard and it bounces back before the weak lock engages
The Large Luzon, the TI LITE ZY TEL 6 and the Large Counter point are IMO the best self defense folders on the market. I'm right there with you bro...

just no, have sgarp steel that has not been sharpend for over a 100 years. supersharp knives stay the same for me also after a year and alot longer.

AUS10A is a very good japanese steel. Ideal for weapons and edge retention. great balance between keeping sharp and being able to sharpen.

Sand the clip with 180 grit then, flat black nail polish. Clear coat it when dried... Whala!!!

Try black finger nail polish or you csn burn it and then nail polish it.
Take itvoff. Burn it and then nail polish it , and if you need to reaply the polish once in a while it will be easy.
