The officer that ordered the release was amazing. These people need to be recognized in some official manner. Even if it is just a letter acknowledging them or a review posted on line.

The grading seems just a tad subjective, but it tries to be fair. For example, the video of the Chicago cops arresting the CTA officer gave the cops a C minus so it tries to be fair.

What people don't understand is that, how our inmates are treated by officers, correlates to how our civilians are treated by officers. In the eyes of some, we're all potential inmates.
It must have been a humbling experience though. Field officer comes out and corrects your actions as an officer, and I'm sure he will get more internal corrective actions from his superiors about his lack of knowledge and professionalism. A law suit is clearly not needed in this case.

@@SimBir08 Exactly. In fewer words that's kind of my original point. A cop's job as defined by the law allows them to skirt the line of the constitution on a regular basis, using technicallity as a shield. He deserves an award not because "He did his job" but rather the fact that his discression should be exemplary among the force. Also don't forget, he's not just a cop, he's a captain. Meaning if this is him on an average day, then he basically is standing between his community and corrupt good ol' boys in his precinct, not only doing his job but forcing them to do theirs. We give awards for participation these days. To a limited extent I agree, but if his priority was genuinely to educate, he could have held an impromptu quick 10 minute session on the spot with the captain present, going through the officer's actions that were illegal, and ending with the liability issue the officers created for the department, need for training, and need for the captain to restrict their use of authority until they become better educated. To drive it home, because it has been widely upheld in the courts that it is legal to film public employees on duty, and may no longer protected through qualified immunity, potentially making them personally liable.

The problem is part of anti terrorist training for officers and security is knowing why people are filming a building. Its a big red flag when someone refuses to answer it.
Come on, you;d think by now that Police would know to leave citizens filming and taking pictures alone. They should give a 30 minute class at the Academy, "Oh and if you see someone standing outside the police station with a camera, leave them alone."
Yes but they see it as a game of dominance, those filming and not wanting to back down is a challenge to their dominance… they feel the need to continue to win the situation… rather primal.

Or they start screaming at you "stop resisting" when you're not resisting, so as to create the illusion that you're fighting them. They know exactly how to manufacture charges, and good luck if you're not recording
The one that irritates me the most is when they approach a person and order them to keep their hands out of their pockets, for their and the person’s safety. I’m like seriously? You are the one who approached the person who did nothing wrong!
The moment they turned off his camera i got shivers down my spine. That's when you know they could have done whatever they wanted. In fact, i believe a new federal law is in order... If for some reason a recording device is turned off, it should be treated as perjury. Which is funny because then those officers would get a taste of their own facilities.
Sadly, cops aren’t even held accountable now. What we really need is civilian oversight boards made up of community members who have the authority to bring charges. And the cops should be tried in a special court with prosecutions judges they have never interacted with.
@@ObservationofLimits I never said judges are corrupt though... I still think that, the lack of evidence that really should be there, is incriminating evidence in of itself and that should be written in law. Gadget Addict: The bad guy not a "bit too agressive" when he took the auditor's camera and handcuffed him illegally. Why call this a "bit too aggressive?" It was VERY agressive. And it wasn't "big of him to apologize" since he wasn't the one that apologized and he would have been forced to. The Captain did not arrest the photographer; it was the jail guards who did. He instructed them to let him go, he de-esclated the situation and he apologized on their behalf. The bad guys didn't apologize, but did give their badge numbers because they were required to. The auditor did NOT agree not to file a complaint so there is no reason to say that you "hope the auditor would likewise stick to his agreement for that apology." Watch the video again. This is what we're pointing out. And also nothing obliged that auditor not to change his mind on something that isn't legally binding, he didn't escalate this one bit. And the captain would deserve absolutely no part of the complaint and probably would not be accused either.

You know what. After watching a lot of this channel's videos, I think this is one of the best audit outcomes. An error was made from the officers, a superior stepped in, corrected it, and a sincere apology was issued to the citizen. Sometimes complaints (and lawsuits) are a very useful tool (both for corrective and documentation purposes) but sometimes I enjoy this resolution on a more Human level more. I deeply respect the cordial approach of the Captain as much as I deeply respect the mature and human way of the auditor to just take an apology and leave it at that. Honestly one of the best videos so far, imo.
The only problem with "educating them on the spot" is that the education is forgotten by the time they walk away, whereas a complaint in their file reminds them for as long as they have that authoritative job.

I don't know if qualified immunity should be abolished, but certainly reassessed, it is too all encompassing in it's current form.

Not to a CO. He's used to just walking all over powerless people
yeah that's assault
I am completely shocked at seeing any member of law enforcement display any level of decency whatsoever. I truly did not believe any of them had it in them.
Lmao the faces on the officers when the camera comes back on is priceless
The CO was a bit too aggressive and apparently in the wrong about the auditors right to film there.
But I was happy to see he was big enough to apologize.
I hope the auditor would likewise stick to his agreement for that apology.
Why are you excusing and complimenting this illegal situation and putting some kind of onus on the innocent auditor? Your response makes no reasonable sense.
@@CatherineSTodd "I don't even get an apology? Cos we can just settle this right now. I won't even go and file a complaint. An Apology.... I'll be a man and put this behind me and go on about my business."
They always too aggressive.
@@GadgetAddict He's free to change his mind nonetheless.
@@GadgetAddict You do realize you're still talking about two different people right? The CO that put his hands over the camera and detained the auditor was clearly NOT the captain who later ordered the auditor's release, issued an apology on behalf of his touchy subordinate, and offered to assist in a complaint.
This is what we're pointing out. And also nothing obliged that auditor not to change his mind on something that isn't legally binding, he didn't escalate this one bit. And the captain would deserve absolutely no part of the complaint and probably would not be accused either.
When a cop says he's concerned for your safety or he's just making sure you didn't need, any help and you didn't call him to you,
Be sure he's itching to arrest you.
Especially when on June 27th 2005, the "Supreme Court" ruled that it was not the job of the BROWN SHIRTS to protect We The People, but to enforce the laws on the books.
So when a BROWN SHIRT says safety, they're KNOWINGLY LYING.
Yeah officer I think there’s some sort of a fugitive in my pants why don’t you check with your mouth
The change in mood after the camera got cut was great, they took it so well
The only problem with "educating them on the spot" is that the education is forgotten by the time they walk away, whereas a complaint in their file reminds them for as long as they have that authoritative job.
He's not there to "educate" anyone. Let's be honest. He just wants subscribers to his TH-cam channel so he can get monetized and rake in the bucks.

Police officers should really learn the difference between "private property" and "restricted space". Just because some government-owned area may be restricted from public access does not make it private property.
also government own areas are owned by the people who elect that government.
They aren’t police officers though they are Correctional Officers. In Australia they would absolutely NOT be legally allowed to do any of the things they did & wouldn’t consider trying due to the repercussions. These officers also are not allowed to do what they did, they apologised but not sure they meant it really?
What does the government like to tell us??? Ignorance of the law is no excuse? Then, despite their lack of training on our constitutional rights, they have no excuse for violating our rights.
It legit says on the door, "This is a public building" lol
Wow what a roller coaster video. Lol. I would’ve never guessed that I’d feel good about the end of this video based on how it went. As soon as he grabbed the camera.... oooooh man. That set me off.

The captain in this video caused me to do a lot of rethinking on the comments that I have put on TH-cam through the years concerning videos on law enforcement officers. This captain in the video was a breath of fresh air to watch and to look at and listen to. He is the kind of man that all of humanity can be proud of and you can tell he's a man of honor and high ethics and is dedicated to his job and is a public servant that all of We the People of America can be proud of and feel lucky that we have such a man Within law enforcement. If only We the People could see more videos with men of Honor like this captain working for us within law enforcement and not having to watch rotten apples day in and day out ruining the reputation of law enforcement officers across our nation the negative mindset of We the People for law enforcement would rapidly turn into a positive mindset.
You’ve just lost me there man isn’t everyone allowed to audit people who gave yu the permission to distinguish between good apples n bad apples,,,are they all good cops,,😢😢😮😮
It amazes me how folks pin a badge on their chests and have absolutely no understanding in basic constitutional law.
Or basic decency.
That's because they rush them through the academy and beg and give them all resources to keep up and learning. It's encouraged by most cop house's and have the info on classes and all cop house's have gym's and expect them to be used. I'm retired law enforcement and I've always been discussed with coming out of the academy and not taking advantage of all the options for us. I'm so glad I did.
You threatened him to say sorry hes gonna say sorry 😂😂😂....but when he grabbed your property THATS where the lawsuit should be given/start
AND when he was falsely arrested/detained.

Officers turning cameras off should be classified as tampering with evidence.
I feel like the COs should get a F+ for actually apologizing and doing it somewhat genuinely.
YES! Nicely spotted.
I think they only did that since the auditor called them out on it and were in fear of getting a complaint filed. They really didn't do it in their own will...
I give them credit for that. Seemed genuinely sorry. Whether he was sorry because he wronged a citizen or because a "real" cop just made him look like fool is up or debate...
Still. 99% of cops never say sorry
@@angelofdeath0203 no doubt you are correct. Even still, a lot of cops would have been on a roid induced power trip and still been threatening him with everything they could think of.
He said sorry, but i guarantee him and the other guards went back in and talked massive s hit about him, and were looking for ways to get back at him in the future etc.
This auditor has a lot of class. Well done sir!
I really like how he handled himself. He didn't get disrespectful and start using bad words. Online
The cammer? He was using plenty of profanity.
An apology at the end? Wow. This video just got a wholesome 😂👍🏼
I’ve watched a dozen videos on this channel where officers got an F but this is the first time I’ve ever heard of a cop apologizing or admitting fault
Hey love the Audits man! Keep up the hard work on the videos, just know we appreciate you more than you know:)
Loved the apology. Just awesome.
Did the officer technically break the law or violate the auditor's rights when he grabbed the camera? Could he have sued over that? ( EDITED - 'sued over' the violation of his constitutional rights only. Not his time or his filming quality or anything of the sort. The entire purpose is to educate and to maintain and to protect our constitutional right to film. Sorry for the lack of clarity. For anyone that does not understand, the purpose of these lawsuits are to protect our rights and not to make money. God Bless our First Amendment Auditors !)
Yes. He violated his rights. When he grabbed his camera and when he was put in cuffs. He was falsely arrested/detained.
could be an issue of prior restraint, or assault, not sure
Technically however it would be hard to win that I think most auditors including myself would prefer them to be educated and if they're not educated then you talk about suing and filing a complaint because in the end until the money comes out of the own officers Pockets the city is the only one that suffers for it the officer usually is not even wrote up what other job can you cost the company tens of thousands of dollars and not get wrote up or more likely fired
It's assault.
It's almost definately technically assault (or something similar, I don't know Nevada law specifically), and that has been upheld in other similar situations, but it's often hard to get it prosecuted.
The old line of "Can I help you?" is never the truth. They are there to "tell" you what they "think" you cannot do.
Don't talk to LE.
This is so satisfying, the shot after he got uncuffed was like a bunch of fresh eunuchs staring at a babe with a gun
And if this cameraman ever gets locked up HE WILL GET TORTURED.....I did time, Trust me, he is making enemies that will eventually get their turn.....
@@ironmiketodd He will not get tortured lol if anything they might be rude or take their time on his requests(kites) etc. I highly doubt he will get locked up though, seems to know what hes doing.
SAYWHAT? What's the point of these auditors even auditing? It's annoying. Cops know that they are auditors after like 15 seconds of talking to them. Cops know that NO criminal ESPECIALLY if they had a warrant or were on probation or parole would EVER BE NEAR A POLICE STATION FILMING AND BEING A GENERAL NUISANCE FORCING THE COP TO APPROACH THEM AND ASK FOR ID. If I was a cop id be annoyed too but I know enough that I wouldn't even bother talking to him and I'd just call him out on being an "auditor" and tell him "dude you're such a loser you have NOTHING better to do than come bother police and record their property and even though you legally have the right to do so especially from the sidewalk, it is just annoying, pathetic, and pointless. You are hoping to have a confrontation in which a cop maybe a rookie cop or one with a short temper or one prone to quick anger and with the need to constantly be the boss and have the last word and be the one telling others what to do, loses it on you and falsely arrests you or even beats you to get it off his chest and feel better about putting u in your place so you can sue him, the PD, and the city and make money"
This is indeed what most auditors want. Bexahzesm zsdjkshkg this is stupid. Imagine if this WASNT a police station but instead it was a PRIVATE RESIDENTIAL HOUSE and the owners see a CRAZY MAN RECORDING THEIR HOUSE AND PROPERTY EVEN THOUGH HES ON THE SIDEWALK. ACTUALLY IMAGINE THIS AUDITOR HIMSELF IS IN HIS HOUSE AND SEES A RANDOM MAN FILMING HIS HOUSE FROM THE PUBLIC SIDEWALK. DONT YOU THINK EVEN THE AUDITOR WOULD CALL THE COPS AND TELL THE PERSON RECORDING THAT DESPITE HIM LEGALLY BEING ABLE TO DO SO THAT HES HARASSJNG HIM MAKING HIM FEEL SCARED AND THREATENED AND GENERALLY BEING ANNOYING AND A NUISANCE BECAUSE ITS NOT FUKING NORMAL GO NON CHALANTLY RECORD PEOPLES HOUSE OR PLACE OF WORK. IN THE POLICE SCENARIO THE SAME FACT HOLDS TRUE. THIS MAN IS BEING ANNOYING HE DOESNT NEED TO "AUDIT" ANYTHING IF IT MEANS HAVING TO FISH FOR IT.

This CO isn't sorry for what he did, he's sorry that he got "caught" doing what he did.
I've been watching videos like this for YEARS and NOTHING ever changes because if and when the officers actually face any "punishment", it's never the officers who actually pay for the lawsuits, it's the tax payers that they're abusing.
Abolish qualified immunity and force officers to pay out of their own pockets when they violate citizens rights and I GUARANTEE that shit like this will stop happening IMMEDIATELY or the "bad apples" will be weeded out swiftly.
It was a Lt. and not a C/O who covered the camera.
They should be required to carry insurance the same way nurses do with malpractice insurance. If a cop continues to violate rights and laws and get sued eventually the cop won't be able to afford to work as a cop because we can't afford to carry his required insurance.
Nurses are held to a higher liability than officers. Why do they have more protection than nurses who actually save lives every day
I don't know if qualified immunity should be abolished, but certainly reassessed, it is too all encompassing in it's current form.
They do need a degree of protection in order to be able to effectively do their job, but the near absolute immunity they currently have encourages the misuse of authority and presents an evident risk to the people.
Take those lawsuit awards out of their pensions and watch them become angels overnight.
Just found this channel today and I’m hooked! Thank you for educating the public and providing so much information about our rights. Subscribed after watching my 2nd video.
It's a shame they turned off the camera. I REALLY want to know what the Captain said to them. The situation took a total 180!
This is one of those rare, positive, just perfect audits. And I have a lot more respect for this auditor and then for many others that go out and do this and seemingly want to poke the bear and the beehive for no real productive means.
The correctional officer actually apologized. You know he was biting his teeth but part of him definitely meant it he knew that he was wrong
I can only imagine how those inmates are treated! Those fools definitely received a GIANT EGO when they got that job!
You should see what cops do to people in prison when no one is watching. I saw one cop slam a detainee’s head up against a steel door frame full force - shattering his skull, and sending him to the floor in a pool of blood. The cleanup crew came and got him but I doubt he lived.
I just wanna thank you for these super interesting and entertaining video's, keep it up!
The fact that every officer who stepped out of that building wasn't fired is crazy
You guys have been NAILING it lately.
Also...I can't think of something more frustrating than an overzealous C.O. (when it comes to enforcement..)
But I must say the fact that they actually APOLOGIZED is awesome. They swallowed their pride and actually seemed somewhat remorseful. That takes a real man. They gave us hope that not everyone who wears a badge is a complete prick. This is a good outcome. This makes me happy.
