Bee Update Late Spring 2021 - Doing Well

They've tossed down the gauntlet.
The new queen is busy laying and they are building up really fast. It's not quite time to add another brood box just yet, but I'm sure they will be ready by next weekend, as another 8000 are about to emerge from their capped cells soon, and more are on the way right behind those.
Glad the little girls are doing well, but there won't be much hope of honey this year. I'm going to be expanding them with a second brood box and that should carry them through until fall. If I do toss on a honey super at some point it will probably be theirs for the winter, so I won't bother with a queen excluder.
If by some miracle they grow really really fast and fill up a super with honey, then I'll add another and take whatever surplus they make, but I don't see that happening.
Everything right now is winter prep. I only have one hive so I need to get them through the winter so I can do a split next year and maybe add one or two extra hives in addition to that. But I'm focused on that more than honey at the moment. All I'm thinking about is winter, and summer technically isn't here yet.
