Great that you posted your video as we all do when assembling stuff. Build, take apart and rebuild, ok wrong again and rebuild.

He even included the "I just punch myself in the face" moment that we've all had.

Loved the 4:20 subliminal amid your struggles.

If anybody Wants to do This :
Take a large drill 10-12 mm to weaken the nut so you can hammer it out more easy
Also think about purchasing the Protection cap when riding through Rain because the rotary door isnt as Waterproof as they say
But Charging performance is really good and the led Makes it also fun to charge & keep the pace up:)
    Save travels!

Good advice. I’ll also add that I’m at four years and the Cing Plug5 is still going strong. Great little device.

Gold star for patience. I'm not sure I would've lasted. I'm looking to get this setup on my Disk Trucker as well. I did Iceland with a solar charger from Anker, and battery packs. As you are probably aware, there wasn't a whole lotta sun in Iceland. *SIGH*

Thanks for the video! Would I be able to mount this in reverse so the plug is facing away from the stem? Or possibly to the side? I have an up and in stem that would block the port if forward.

You can mount it in any direction. No problem.

    Hi,
Have you been able to use the Plug5 Plus much since installation?
Would be great to read a follow-up
Like the concept of a cache battery (to stop my garmin having a power disconnect) and the clean install

It’s been about a year since the install and it’s still working great.

May I enquire if the cache battery uses an expander (i.e., compatible with carbon steerers) to secure it in the steerer tube - or a star nut?
Also, how satisfactory is it in practice? Does it charge properly?
    Thank you.

It does use an expander and I couldn’t be happier with how well it charges.

Hi, how tight is the battery in the steerer? I’m wanting to run a wire up the side of the battery and out through a hole in a stem spacer for a front light, do you think this is possible? Cheers

    • @BuffertheTourist
      @BuffertheTourist  4 ปีที่แล้ว

There’s not much space between the battery and there’s none around the cap I don’t think it would be possible.

I've just installed a Plug5. Having previously watched your video I'll admit that I was worried, however it was actually plain sailing. I drilled out the star-spangled nut as shown here (th-cam.com/video/T6WwOa5FfbA/w-d-xo.html) but I left the fork in the frame, so that was easy. The part where you struggled to get the cap on with the wires in the way is perhaps slightly confusing at first glance, and the manually could be a little clearer. Basically the wire come out at the 9 o'clock position, and the go around the central bolt-hole so that, once plugged in, the port is at the front. It's an incredibly neat design and the device itself oozes quality.
In my case I also had the lights to wire in, but that was trivial.
That said, I do feel that Cinq/ToutTerrain could do themselves a big favour by providing a proper installation video.

Yes it was confusing. In hindsight I wish I was clearer on my video.

Would you happen to have a link for purchase of Cinq5 + power pack? I found a place in Germany for the Son28 Dynamo hub but am having difficulty finding a good seller for the Cing5 + powerpack.
