Dude, this is one my favorite videos you've made. It was the perfect balance of funny, honest, sentimental, and informative. So, so good. Plus, the color coordinating text/backgrounds with the photos was perfect! You killed it man!!
This video took me back to high school fumbling in the dark closets of my photography class with my film canisters. Thanks for inspiring all of us to seek beauty in the imperfections.
Yes!!! That's so awesome. I appreciate you saying that. It's so weird, I never have issues with the M6 when I'm just using it alone, but as soon as we start filming for youtube, everything goes crazy. Thanks for watching!!
Actually really like the contrast between the yellow of the light leaks and the blue hues of the street. The ripping of film inside the camera has happened to me a couple of times too and had to do the same closet maneuver. It's always a good idea to keep a stash of black canisters for those accidents :)
Eric, dude; yes, I have so been there. I once shot a roll in my Nikon F100 on a wedding day, the portraits of the bride and groom - yes, their portrait session - AND at the end of the roll, the F100 froze. All the film was trapped and would not rewind. I had no time to redo the session because we were pressed for time. All I had left was my second F100 and my little N90. I think I called Josh Moates, Indie Film Lab, the day of the wedding (maybe I emailed him from my phone) and quickly explained. And you know what, like a true friend that I have never met before, he encouraged me to send the whole camera in (with the roll trapped inside) and he would take care of it. AND HE DID JUST THAT. The results from the film scans were spot on beautiful and the couple loved their images. If it weren't for placing my trust in Josh Moates and his team at Indie Film Lab, I would have tremendously disappointed a client. The team at Indie Film Lab is truly professional and great people to work with.
Has this happen before. figured out I didn't push the canister fully into the camera before I started to advance the film. it caught the film at a slight angle and it got worse with every advance. Now I use my thumb to hold the canister in all the way before I even try and put the leader into the spool.
My M6 did that before, it is something in the rewind knob that tightens when you advance the roll. I found a print out of the problem before printed it out and took it in to a technician and he tightened it for me.
Thanks for the positivity like always! Just picked up my first 35mm film camera last week and will always keep your words in mind while shooting! Hope you and your family are well. And cant wait to hear about your road to 300 miles soon! - Eric
This video was visual candy! The photos and even the video itself. And bro, I've been there too with the film mistakes; I loaded a whole roll backwards on my medium format camera once (it is as dumb as it sounds HAHA). I love your honesty + comedy (esp that last second cough at the end). Time to CLA that M6!
Love it! I just got some scans back this morning. Every time I see them, it makes me want to run out and use my film camera more. I think the delayed gratification of what I was able to make is crucial to valuing the work as well. Thanks for sharing the funny (and probably frustrating) behind the scenes.
My man! I will physically fight any Leica snob that gives you guff. Now what I really wanna see is street photography with that Olly. CHEAP CAMERA CHALLENGE
Did you buy your M6 from Tamarkin in Chicago? I had a black M6 TTL that the film would bind in and the back plate was not tight on. I returned it to them. It had a couple scratches on the shutter speed dial. Curious if it's the same camera.
I just shot a 24 frame roll and I thought it was a 36 roll so I rewound it and ripped the film but I was able to salvage the shots and get some clean accidental double exposures
Another great vid, love it! Thanks for walking through the perfectionist lie, the temptation for many is not to try because they fear it won’t be perfect. But we can’t learn without failing and trying new things.
Oh and one more comment; the film leaks - bro - they're gorgeous. Referencing the comment below about my F100 mishap, I had several frames with light leaks and only added to the beauty of the moment forever captured. Nothing wrong with light leaks at all. High five.
so true. I think the process matters so much. Ups and downs are completely normal. We can't appreciate the ups without making mistakes or going through some downs and yes. Every mistake is just a part and just as important. The last shot is my favorite too. Thanks for making having trouble so normal - I used to freak out about stuff like that :D Thanks for the video!
honestly the light leaks made these crazy unique... Lean into what makes you different (aka mess up film shots but be so good that they still look insane) love the story man! some good wholesome iso content
So good man! I could never really get into street photography but you’re making it seem much more appealing! Also, my local film shop is kinda fizzling and changing gears. Is it pretty easy to use a mail-out film development service?
Damn that sucks what happened to you film but it’s awesome that you like he way some of them still came out. Do you still shoot on your Canon Film camera? Or is it Leica from now on?
Honestly, so happy I still got salvageable frames from the day. :) I still own the Canon 1V as well, and use it from time to time! Hoping to use it a lot more this year! Thanks for watching, Joe!
Love this! I've had so many hiccups whilst using my M6 as well, but you hit the nail in the head, this camera will belong to my son one day! Photographs that aren't interesting to others isn't important, it's capturing your story and enjoying doing so! You have a new subscriber! :-)
Eric hats off 👍 we love it 💪 killer street photography video 😉 Bro thumbs up, keep growing and see ya at our cinematic travel channel 👍👍 you are always more than welcome to come by and express your feelings about it 🤩
The first time it happened I had a feeling you forgot to dismount the film before trying to wind it back into the canister. This time, I think you accidentally wound the film into the canister without releasing the film from the revolving sprocket. Shit happens, dude.
Ah man, takes me back to working in a camera shop, every other day a customer would come in with a roll of film and a camera that had got stuck. We’d go into the cupboard under the stairs and salvage what we could, these were probably the moments when a customer was most grateful. It’s part of the charm, I’ve not shot film for years, but this has reminded me how fun it was, must get back on it 🙌
Looks like maybe you got a roll of 24/27 shots and not 36? what you are saying in the video, like the jagged ends and all that. It’s because that’s the end of the roll. Just make sure how many shots are in each roll.
7:30 Exactly. I'd a thot those who shoot film should know best and be more easy on you. You don't pixel peep with film. You shouldn't pixel peep on how people shoot film either.
Would getting your camera serviced help? Speaking of f#ck ups. I recently bought a Hasselblad 500. I messed up the first roll. 7 frames gone. Lmao it's all a beautiful learning experience. 😆
you are literally taking photos of nothing and people say they're good because its on film. its beyond stupid. "Hey guys look at this photo i took of some random guy walking through the street" "WOW m4N THATs SO IntErEsTing". How is it interesting? its boring and pointless.
Big fan of this video Eric - this is definitely my kind of photography! I've not been in the game for too long however armed with a 77D and a 50mm lens, I managed to hit NY last year and discover my passion for street photography. (instagram.com/p/Bz1EsrxAm5U/) Keep doing what you're doing man and thanks for videos so far!
Dude, this is one my favorite videos you've made. It was the perfect balance of funny, honest, sentimental, and informative. So, so good. Plus, the color coordinating text/backgrounds with the photos was perfect! You killed it man!!
Thanks so much, my dude! :) Really had fun editing it.
Those shots with the light leaks came out great
you're only allowed to shoot digital in our future collabs 🙃

Love the attitude and life philosophy!!!
AWESOME! You reminded me of old times and how great analog photography can still be! And the colors... Lot's of fun!
Appreciate that, Jacek! Thanks for watching!!
@@EricFloberg My pleasure!
This video is sick!! Digging the song too!!! 👍👍

Eric Floberg! you are amazing!!!

HECK YES!! Love to hear that about Indie. That's amazing. So happy you still got your scans with no issues! :) Thanks so much for the support, man!
Eric Floberg hope to meet Josh one day

Film is hard but man, when you get a keeper, it's so rewarding.
Real life can be fun with a good attitude. Fun video. Nice message.
I actually love those light leaks!
Dude those light leaks are GORGEOUS!!! 😆
My favorite video so far! Really inspirational, keep ripping your films mate 😍
Thanks Eric, beautiful story as always ❤️
Thanks for watching, Forrest!!

Love the honesty in your videos and the M6 is sick!!! I feel you on the film struggles my man. 😂
Another great video! Thanks, Eric

YES! Scan day is like Christmas. Seriously some of my favorite days of the year!
This was %100 one of my favourite Eric floburg videos, if not just throughout the entirety of you tube, well don't Eric as per usual 🙏🙏
Hello, Nice video!
i have a contax T2 but on some pictures i get circulate white flare. by any chance , do you know what is it ?
Thanks a lot
The m6 is a near perfect camera. This is inspiring me to make my video take on it for my channel
I love how the light leaked photos turned out! (Also your song choice for the video 👌🏻) Thanks for always being so real and such an encouragement!
My man! I will physically fight any Leica snob that gives you guff. Now what I really wanna see is street photography with that Olly. CHEAP CAMERA CHALLENGE

I bought it on a Facebook group about 2.5 years ago I think, but it does have a scratch on the shutter dial. When did you return it to Tamarkin?
loved the light leaks!
Nice shots! 👍
LOVE IT
I just shot a 24 frame roll and I thought it was a 36 roll so I rewound it and ripped the film but I was able to salvage the shots and get some clean accidental double exposures

the only channel where 30 seconds of black screen is entertaining. 😂
Oh and one more comment; the film leaks - bro - they're gorgeous. Referencing the comment below about my F100 mishap, I had several frames with light leaks and only added to the beauty of the moment forever captured. Nothing wrong with light leaks at all. High five.
Right?? I freaking love when the light leaks happen. So nice when they're real and not just some preset on a digital image haha
Eric Floberg amen
I just got into shooting film last month, cried as my first roll or portra of got messed up, and could feel it ripping in the rewind.
Great job Eric!
Killer. As always!
this was sweet
Love this video man. Its funny and emotional. And at the same time i learn alot of stuff. Thanks for sharing Eric ! Stay safe !
The light leaks😍😍🔥
Damn man, I'm a puddle. That was beautiful and inspiring. "The documentation for my people..." beautiful.
Looking forward for the video "I'm an idiot"! That sounds so funny. Great content Eric!!!
So I’ve been trying to get into film and my first to rolls came out blank 🤦🏻♂️
Lens cap? 🤣
This is gold. Have you had your camera CLAed? Seems like something is wrong. You can’t have that much bad luck.
Thanks dude! Yeah, it's way past due for sending it in. :\
Eric Floberg hahaha I think you just keep running with it and continue the series of “Happy Accidents”
so true. I think the process matters so much. Ups and downs are completely normal. We can't appreciate the ups without making mistakes or going through some downs and yes. Thanks for the video!
You're welcome! Thanks so much for watching! Means a ton to hear that it resonated so much with you. :)
honestly the light leaks made these crazy unique... Lean into what makes you different (aka mess up film shots but be so good that they still look insane)
love the story man! some good wholesome iso content
lol right?? Hahaha Seriously love film photography for all of the nuance. You never know what's going to happen, and that makes shooting so much fun.
That ending "We're all imp- *Haqhasfafoawq*" was Perfection.
such a dope video, great vibe!
hey Eric. Love your videos! Do you develop your own films? Would love to see your editing/development process.
Bro after watching this, film gives me MAD ANXIETY lol. Never shot film but love the different look it gives to images 👍🏻
How do you go about publishing/posting/selling street photography with peoples faces on it? Do you need their permission?
Loved this Eric, this really inspired me ♥♥♥♥
What film lab do you use
www.indiefilmlab.com/ is my go-to! :)
Stil love the shots! Maybe the lova just needs to be looked at!
I was waiting for this one!! All hail light leaks!
So good man! I could never really get into street photography but you’re making it seem much more appealing! Also, my local film shop is kinda fizzling and changing gears. Is it pretty easy to use a mail-out film development service?
Good video man
Eric: rips a roll, gets epic shots.
Me: doesn't rip a roll, half of the shots come out with a solid black bar on the top.
I mean... Come on!
Eric Floberg sweet dude. I’m glad. Always a good feeling to capture some great shots when it’s least expected
Time for a CLA.. Leicas are at their best with soulful and thoughtful peoples..Mine belonged to my grandfather and I’ll pass it on to my child.
I can’t wait to own that camera someday
And boom goes the dynamite.
Love this! I've had so many hiccups whilst using my M6 as well, but you hit the nail in the head, this camera will belong to my son one day! Photographs that aren't interesting to others isn't important, it's capturing your story and enjoying doing so! You have a new subscriber! :-)
Sounds like it’s past time for a CLA 😂
What was name of the music album

Whats the Name of the Song?
Eric hats off 👍 we love it 💪 killer street photography video 😉 Bro thumbs up, keep growing and see ya at our cinematic travel channel 👍👍 you are always more than welcome to come by and express your feelings about it 🤩
Do you have any idea what went wrong?
@7:30 do you my dude. do you. it's exhausting to try and justify you choices. Great video.
The first time it happened I had a feeling you forgot to dismount the film before trying to wind it back into the canister.
This time, I think you accidentally wound the film into the canister without releasing the film from the revolving sprocket.
Shit happens, dude.
Only TH-cam Dads shoot on film.
big facts.
Whenever I hear Leica m6 or m7, all I can think of is Eurotrip

Photographers telling other photographers that they don't deserve a piece of gear because of mistakes they make are not true artists.
Yo bro, hook me up with the ID on that Carhartt jacket 👀
I really don’t even know why the algorithm even tries anymore
:))
lol always grateful for your algorithm help, my man!!
Looks like maybe you got a roll of 24/27 shots and not 36? what you are saying in the video, like the jagged ends and all that. It’s because that’s the end of the roll. Just make sure how many shots are in each roll.
Good idea, but it was definitely a roll of Portra 400 with is 36 exposures.
7:30 Exactly. I'd a thot those who shoot film should know best and be more easy on you. You don't pixel peep with film. You shouldn't pixel peep on how people shoot film either.
Commenting so your video doesn't tank.
Would getting your camera serviced help?
Speaking of f#ck ups. I recently bought a Hasselblad 500. I messed up the first roll. 7 frames gone. Lmao it's all a beautiful learning experience. 😆
Yo this is at least the 3rd video I’ve seen that your camera rips your film 😭
This was a strange video. expected street photography, in the end got some troubleshooting with a film roll...
Images up to 3:00 in are all trash? Nothing unique on any of them, poor compositions all passed off under the guise of ‘street photography’.....
@10:06
you are literally taking photos of nothing and people say they're good because its on film. its beyond stupid. "Hey guys look at this photo i took of some random guy walking through the street" "WOW m4N THATs SO IntErEsTing". How is it interesting? its boring and pointless.
Wholeheartedly disagree for a many reasons, namely the ones I say in this video towards the end. Anyway, thanks for watching and commenting though!
Big fan of this video Eric - this is definitely my kind of photography! sell that M6
fomo
wow. What a bunch of underwhelming images. You guys need to stop posing about with those expensive trendy film cameras.
