Her voice is so soft, I love it. Vicky Carr is more 'melodic', Shirley Bassey is more 'violent'. I like them all, they're not better or worse - just different !

The original french song is "Seul sur son étoile" sung by Gilbert Bécaud
      Music written by Gilbert Bécaud
      Lyrics written by Maurice Vidalin
Mack David adapted the song in 1966 for Vikki Carr

Any version without the original instrumental riff is definitely not worth listening to even if it has been sung by a very talented superstar.

@@tgipaul frankly speaking I must apologise if I come across as sounding superior and snarky! The lady really is one of my favourite singers along with other singers of the 60s and 70s including
Burt Bacharach , Connie Francis, Pat Boone, Cliff Richard Engelbert Humperdinck, and
even though I am a man, I cannot resist listening to his the Last waltz again and again and I guess I get a bit irritated when their original songs are Sung Again by other talented artist but the music which one loves in the original song is done away with or something else is substituted.
      Anathema Maranatha!
Please put it down to getting more nitpicky as one is growing older and more intolerant . I should have added that in my previous message so that you did not feel, oh no, here is another smug, superior, pompous priggish nincompoop who has spoilt the listening of this video with his nasty words helas ! Why do these lab grown specimens infect a perfectly proper polite comment box?

@@tgipaul, that is very kind of you. Please excuse this long letter.
But taking into view the sometimes very immature, and frankly obscene responses, I often get from youngsters of the millennial generation, whose vocabulary is prominently made up of two main words, one starting with S and the other starting with F and who think it necessary to comment on any comment on any video, including mine, in illiterate SMS language or in the American dialect instead of in English, sometimes one really does not know what a response would be like. Whether it would be belligerent followed by a number of grinning emoticons, which any psychologist can tell you is a very dangerous trend.
Something very rude, vicious, malicious and hurtful has been said, on purpose, and everyone who reads it can understand it. And there is no justification of a :-) after it, in a pretended gesture of you know I am joking you can see the :-) so do not take me seriously, will you.
Being a psychologist, this reminds me of a case of a female, who had the habit of saying something really vicious and nasty, since childhood, and then giggling and smiling and laughing and said oh no, I really did not mean that, oh, what did I say. With every second sentence, or when she spoke to anybody. And she was about 55 years old, when I first met her at a pleasant family party, and she was just destroying the atmosphere by her high-pitched giggle, her baby voice , her fluttering eyelashes, and her nasty sentences. Luckily, we knew when a barb was coming, because she preceded it with a high-pitched giggling sound. Supposedly, I am just being sweet, and do not mind me, all this is fun, is not it.
Her family asked me if anything could be done about her, because she was getting worse, as time went by.
I had to give her case over to another colleague, because I considered her very dangerous and mentally and emotionally retarded and dysfunctional. That was in the 90s.
Unfortunately, in the 2010s and 2020s the percentage of such specimens have multiplied at thousand fold, in the younger generation, and they are spreading their mental and emotional malice, behind the anonymity of a photograph and Internet address and some illiterate. :-) hieroglyphics known as emoticons , which is the language in which morons communicated in the 21st century with which to end their messages. All over the world.
So TH-cam, which was once a place for the gathering of erudite people who shared knowledge and was a family channel is now full of these lab grown specimens and twits, who do not stick to their twittering on twitter or Instagram, or posting their mugs on social media sites, and Facebook, in order to gain the approval of others.
Take your message to me as an example. Mature, well-written, and very pleasant. With absolutely no emoticon, the universal symbol of illiteracy on the Internet.
If it was one of the specimens, writing at midnight, which is the time when they crawl out of their holes underground, well hopped up on Ritalin and government approved marijuana, the response would have been three words.
      F U Ass... And then a :-) after it.
There must be something very wrong with a generation, which is obsessed with bodily functions, especially that pertaining to procreation and body parts and make it a part of their regular vocabulary, while speaking, writing and communicating with people all over the world.
      QED.
Literate and mature people never use emoticons or shortcuts while writing messages to other people ever. But these illiterate humanoids do, 24/7.
Before I end the message, I think I would like to share the video, which I saw a year ago, and where I heard it must be him for the first time. I had never heard it before. Beautiful song. After that, I used to enjoy pressing the button at 7 to see Carol Burnett go into her boy from Ipanema routine, wonder why my lady wife never went Aaaaaaah, that way when she beheld me, all these years and danced that way ever!
Some more happy memories to share with you. Sans emoticons.
On our 15th wedding anniversary, when I sang Humperdinck's the first time ever I saw your face, at our family and friends celebratory party, (which nobody had ever heard of before! They thought that I had written the song, originally and set it to music my own way. The best compliment to any man anywhere, would not you think. )
Also, She declared that if at the moment, if she was not this girl, you see this girl is in love with you, she would do so, again, and immediately! Unexpected -mine lady is the very quiet, calm and tranquil sort- response greeted with hoots from the kidlets , and whistles from the rest of the guests, because dignified moms and dads are not supposed to be soppy, in public, leave that to the exhibitionists of a juvenile civilisation and society!
That was because, I used to sing Bacharach's song, this guy is in love with you at college, and then after that, with all my friends demanding that I sing the English version of A man and a Woman- (when hearts are passing in the night...)
And also, down the years, we group of friends enjoyed almost daily sessions of I think I love you, with me starting up the song, and all of us roaring the chorus I think I love you, and then a baritone friend growling,
do not know what it is all about...
Now that was living life emperor size, instead of just existing! Happy days. The kids do not believe that their pops were young, Once upon a time, and crazy after music, and song, at their age!
The I think I love you song was The Partridge family hit of the 60s, before we were born, and sung in the 80s when we were at college! Now those were the days my friend.
Caught the last song allusion? Hint, originally sung by Mary....
It must be him, the boy from Ipanema, and this guy is in love with you, in the medley are fantastic, if you have ever heard them and enjoyed them. Not many people in their 30s and 40s know about them, alas.
      Here is the medley -
      th-cam.com/video/VDMELGQwEvY/w-d-xo.html
As for the pathetic American application ad for you to download, right when you click on this link and made by an illiterate person, having studied in a country where they still do not know the difference between their, they're, they are, there, believe me, I am not joking, only Americans are going to download it.
Because of course they have their own idea about spelling, punkins and their college-educated VP spelling potato as Potatoe . Hurray for their brand of expensive education, where you have to borrow USD50,000 from the bank, to get a degree from a college, for five years, to be taught what is being taught to class VIII students in Japan and class X students in India. In just one year. Free of cost, because here, education is top priority and for everyone, and not a privilege for the elite, as it is in America and also other Western countries, including the UK.
Incidentally, thanks to the Internet, and their version of learning mathematics, children are being taught to write 22 as 20 + 2= 202.
      I kid you not.
But then, what would you expect from a country, where the administration decided that the date format has to be changed to their own personal American way.
So when the world knows that the war between Germany and England started on September 3, 1939, according to American calculation of dates , the war started on ninth March 1939.
That means when the whole of the world reads 4 July, as 4/7/2019, for them, it will be seventh April, 2019.
No wonder they need Ritalin to make morons out of their children at the age of two itself. What if a child is intelligent enough to ask, what da efffff? When he is confronted with such stupidity , which incidentally, as Dr. Samuel Butler said more than three hundred years ago "Such an excess of stupidity sir is not in nature." That cannot be accepted, can it, who is he to question the decisions made by the generations before him.
And if she is a girl, give her growth hormones, so that at the age of nine or so, she has a misshapen body of a 26 year old nymphet with IQ room temperature and enough of brains to fill a toothpick holder. Naturally, she is going to have a vocabulary of about 100 words, including whatever, Duhhhhhh, and you can recognize her, by her chattering nonstop, because she cannot help it. That is the mental growth of a three-year-old.
She can then spend the rest of her life, posting her picture on the Internet, so that she is happy with a response of my, how hot she is. The boys given steroids are going to be rendered sterile. So that is that.
Incidentally, the word hot was used in the 19th century to refer to a mare or a bitch in heat which was ready for breeding with a pedigreed stallion or mutt.
And today it is being used, to denote the same thing thanks to the Internet and social sites . This she- dog is as you can see totally ready, willing, because she terms herself as hot or enjoys other people terming her as hot. Same for men too, being reduced to the status of studs and hounds. - which unfortunately is what the Internet has reduced them to, socially speaking and they understand it not, being happy with the status quo of being called Hot.
And naturally with such an app, their messages are going to be corrected in this manner.
i gave a thoro answer 2 the questions u asked me and when alice throo the kestun 2 me during the interview, i answered her well so why didnt i get the job.
      Keep smiling! God bless.
