@@raw2878 turns out it only works for ios due to certain privileges like being able to be logged on to multiple devices with the same account. The only way for android is to transfer by backing up to a computer using the computer version of wechat and then transferring onto the new device.
A bit of a late reply but anyway, if it helps other people too: So apparently when you're already logged on your old phone and then you log your same user in the new phone, it takes a few seconds for them to be open at the SAME time. And that's when you scan your old phone with your new phone (at least it's working for me right now)
Thanks, but... you really should note that when you say we can backup or transfer to a PC, that's an incorrect thing to say. PCs, desktops, rarely have wi-fi. Laptops do. You should be saying that we can send chat data to a PC ***laptop***. Even though I have the WeChat desktop app here on my PC, I can't receive a backup from my phone via wifi, even though both devices are working through the same router. File managers can see both devices each way. Many people have the same setup. This information really needs to be included. If there's a way to migrate or backup chats by a USB cable, we'd love to hear. Thx.
This way from mobile to mobile with same wechat account can not. Because if login the same account one of the wechat account will be logout. So how transfer the data with this way ?

Hello, Does any one know how to miigrate chats on Wechat from one computer to another. As I have purchased a new computer and dont know to restore wechat on my new computer where all my old chat histories appear.
We chat is a copy cat app ... but i i dont like it ... Can we do manually ... like whatssap ... tack back up in sd card and then insert in new phone and open whatssap and to to restore and select the file . ???

you are literally not answering the question in the title.. is there a way to export chat to a text file of some sort?
I thought you can only log on to ONE phone at a time. Wouldn't you need to be logged in to both phones in order to scan the QR code? How?
