My theory is that originally Laslow and Selena were supposed to be Xander's retainers and Peri was supposed to be Camilla's. If you think about it, Peri would make a lot more sense as Camilla's retainer, and Selena would be better suited for Xander.

Most of the trio's endings are of them and their spouses (if they have one) "disappearing" shortly after the war (unless one of them marries Corrin/the Avatar, when it says that the one who did marry Corrin stayed by their side and didn't go back),that heavily implies (if not telling directly telling us) that they went back with their spouse.
