Since a vehicle has only 5 visibility points and 2 view ports stupid situations can occur. This does not mean spotting mechanics don't work correctly. This means spotting mechanics have their limitations, allowing stupid things like this to happen. "Working as intended." *In spite of the above, I find no explanation on the first situation.
The last one kiiiind of makes sense? Because as far as I know a way to spot a vechile is to see their front/side, which I think has a single point that you have to see in order to spot the entire vechile, and looks like the one on the side was covered (by the building to the right) and the one on the front too (by the building in front), but it's still pretty stupid. The first 2 though? I have absolutely no idea how that is even possible.
12 yrs after and spotting mechanic still don't work like WG presenting in videos 🙋♀️🤦♀️ Same happened to me today Maus and Jag Piduras was hiding behind small bush ( 2 house hidden behind bush !!! ) and i can't spot them from 70 meters distance in my AMX 13 90 !!!
The visual representation of foliage doesn't match the actual model of the bushes. Also tanks have specific spotting points and if those are behind cover, they won't get spotted even if parts of their tank is outside cover.
I really don't know how spotting works in this game... I get 504 view range with my French light, i yolo into Paris middle, spot TVP that's also yoloing, he gets destroyed in 2 seconds literally next to me and I get 500 spotting assistance o.O And there's no one else close to us. And that's not the only time that happened. And my AMX is almost completely maxed out...
You should get some knowledge then about battle mechanics. Basically if the tank who causes damage to target would spot the target without you being there, there is no reason for you to get ANY ASSIST at all. You only get assist for damage caused from teammates that wouldnt see the target without you. Also, if there are 2 tanks that are able to spot the same target and someone who doesnt see him (like arty for example) damages him, you split the assist by half :)
@@DrNeur0tix No no, this is literally why I am asking. I was the one that spotted that TVP and we arrived at the exact same time to the middle and my team fired at him and killed him literally next to me, like 5 meters from me. I have several thousand games in light tanks, been playing this since 2013. That's why I don't understand why does game sometimes act like this. I get split assist for a vehicle I spotted and to which I was by far the closest one and this is neither first nor only time this happened. Been playing a lot of my AMX because of September top of the tree and it's non stop bulshit...
@@woochitelj what you dont understand? I wasnt there but imagine this situation: There was a friendly TD aiming at TVP you spotted. Their range from eachother was for example 271m, not allowing the TD to spot him. In the moment your TD fired, TVP was already 265m away, because he was driving. 265m was enough range for TD to spot him without you. You only spotted TVP few meters earlier. But in the moment TVP took damage, your TD had him in spotting range aswell due to the fact TVP was on the move, getting closer to your TD.
@@woochitelj There is also a lot of situations with light tanks, where you spot a target, and then your medium tank damages him and you get no assist. DO you know why? Because in the moemnt you spot him, your medium friend is hiding behind a rock like a little scared puppy. When you spot someone, he peaks, shoots and hide again. In the moment he peaks, he would be able to spot the target for himself without you with his high enough viewrange. Thats why you get nothing.
@@DrNeur0tix So technically, it's exactly what I thought it was? :) A bad design ^^ Yeah, for the TVP example, I am not sure about exact distances in Paris but I would guess that's pretty accurate assessment. There should be a mechanic implemented where if you spot someone first and they get hit in first 3-5 seconds, you will get full assistance for that regardless of who else is in range, or something similar.
If some was programming at some point, he knows how hard it is to do simple things. To make game like wot is INSANELY hard. It's actually nice to see only 3 examples of bad spotting mechanic
These are results of packet loss/lag + the server refresh is very slow. WoT is operating with 10hz server tickrate which abysmal and if you add on top of that one or two missed packet we are talking about 2-300 ms of delay. Wg could use better performance servers but for that they would need to spend money. They only like to take money.
But each tank has 2 view ports. Cupola, but also, where your gun is mounted (for example for US tanks its called Mantlet, you know this huge plate holding the gun). His gun is literally aiming on him, so he should be spotted right?
12 years later and the game still hasn't left beta version
:)
Fuckin true and i am a beta player blyt 😂
"why fix game then you can just keep selling more and more op tanks" definitely wg
Certified T95 moments
Similar situation happened to Claus Kellerman when a heavy tank disappeared behind a twig on Siegfried line

A significant portion of the terrain is modelled poorly.

second one also makes sense. Jacke kinda blocked his turret and gun to hide his weakspots so he missed the spotting while the guy crosses.
Daki 😂
I guess it's based where commanders cupola is.
OMG this is hilarious xD
I saw that bug on Studzjanki 1000 times
good video lol

For first clip, that's not spotting mechanics messing up, your cupola is behind the building for most of it, so of course you won't see him
But each tank has 2 view ports. Cupola, but also, where your gun is mounted (for example for US tanks its called Mantlet, you know this huge plate holding the gun). His gun is literally aiming on him, so he should be spotted right?
You have a view port in the mantlet of your gun.
Studzianki is just a huge shitshow for that
Or maybe the T95 has super bounty improved exhaust silencer
The spotting mechanics of this game are honestly so horrible and unrealistic 😂😂
Don't worry about it. WG is hard at hand in creating a new T8 premium that suckers will buy and the continued downfall of WoT continues.
The sad truth
slavs in charge of game design XD ,,,halfassed is their best
Это нормально, картошкина игра
