Thank you so much for taking the time to do this review. I have an old Macbook from 2019 and i´m thinking of upgrading and this video has me sold. I was wondering if I should go for a 14 or 16 inch screen but I dont want to trade portability for size when these glasses are available. My main problem with working on a laptop is the lack of several screens, not the screen size itself. Looking forward to the "sci-fi" 😉 experience. However, what are your thoughts on the XReal Ultra glasses (I reckon I need a cable any way...)
Thank you for the useful review. One small issues I noticed when doing my research on these....they are not "AR" glasses, not sure XR is better term but definitely not AR. It's confusing me as all heck which one is which but so far, XR is glasses used as projected display vs. glasses used to augment your reality by adding to it (like the RayNeo X2). Please correct me if I am wrong on this.
@@whatswrongwithnick Ok, so I did buy a pair. They seem well made. I did send them back, but not because of sub-par technology. It was a fitment issue. I couldn't get the glasses close enough to my eyes, causing the bottom and bottom corners of the display to get cut off from my field of vision. My younger son had the same issue. I kept trying to push them closer to my eyes. After a while, I also experienced that sort of ear discomfomt you get from wearing headphones way too long. A better fitting pair of these glasses would fix that as well. I still rated them 5 stars, for the clear 1920 x1080 and for the price point. Other observations: If you are throwing code at 1920x1080, being in a bright room or outside might be a bit of a stretch. Same as it would be with a monitor. For me, darker would be better. The other issue was head movment. So I code 6 feet away from a 75" Samsung monitor running @ 1920 x 1080. The thing with the glasses is, even minor head movements make the virtual display move as well. It's as if my Samsung was able to shift position back and forth quickly with any slight head movement. Not a show stopper, but it was a bit distracting while trying to focus on fine text. I'm sure with more time, I would get used to it. Again, not a fault of the product. The main issue, as I stated, was fitment. Trying to market a "one size fits all" product has to be difficult. I would definately consider them again with a different sized pair. My goal was to be able to VPN/RDP into a development box using my Samsung S20 phone, with either a Verizon data connection, or using Starlink. For all intents and purposes, I was able to do this. I just have to wait for a better fitting pair to come out. So Nick, I would encourage you to try them. Let me know how it goes. I'm very curious to see what you think.
It would be cool to see them compared in "office" use with the Lenovo Thinkreality A3, which costs almost 4x times ;) But their projected screen size is, on purpose, smaller (to adapt better to office usage). Working in mobility is getting so close to sci-fi movies ;)
exclusive collaboration between Meta and mediatek involves co-developing custom silicon, highlighting a strong commitment to the future of AR smart glasses and innovative computing experiences
If they combined earbud-style additions for AR-headphones, which augment hearing or cancel out noise, would be nice, but mainly removing the speakers, and using earbuds as batteries would be a big improvement, but it would be noticeable to others while wearing, but I have my doubts that anyone wearing these won't also be wearing ear-buds.
If you connect it to a regular device without special software support, don't you have any issues that the image stays 'static' without and gyro happing? Lots of people complain that they have to keep their head perfectly still for a comfortable experience. The moment you move just a bit it can be distracting or you start to hurl :).

Sci-fi. Good review. I still want a wider field of view from a set of displays like this, but this shows a lot of promise with what is currently available. I don't think this kind of product would be collecting dust after the purchase.
Even though I wear glasses I find it difficult doing my work on a PC laptop while traveling, a 15 inch screen. I find it comfortable reading text at home on a 32 inch monitor. So the question I have if I use these glasses with my work laptop will it help me read text any better, is it larger?
I want to buy a pair and use them as a dual monitor setup. My question is - are the monitors fixed in space or do they move along with my head movements? Thanks!
is this good for work use for viewing pdfs, powerpoints, webpages etc? is the text and readability crisp & clear like a real monitor and the color reproduction ? and what about media viewing experience like movies etc ?
Good video. I am trying to find smart glasses to help reverse the daily neck strain I get from looking down at my laptop during the day. I need a pair wear I can have multiple screens and also a virtual keyboard so I never have to look down(no more neck issue). Will these glasses allow me this freedom? I want to be able to work during the day without looking down at my keyboard.
Do these support HDCP? I tried to use the Quest 3 with virtual desktop and got the dreaded not compatible error and plays a blank screen making ALL my purchased Apple content unavailable. I would gladly buy a pair of glasses like this to access my full content. Thanks.

Did you try to open WebXR or WebVR scene via the web browser? Can you project a 3D background? Is there an option for the geolocated AR scenes? Do they have plugins or APIs to connect 3D animation and 3D object-building software like Blender or Unreal?

The xREAL Beam drops in a few weeks. It's an accessory that will add some great functionality to the Air's while also increasing the total screen size to 330"! Just preordered mine. I swear I don't work for xReal, just excited is all :) Probably the best companion accessory for the Steam Deck PERIOD!
I noticed that during the 3 screen simulation, you can only see the screen you're looking at and it seemed like you were using a follow spot. Is this how they glasses really are or can you see all 3 screens in front of you at the same time? As well, can you lock the screens in place and not have them follow you around the room?
Just the recording. It's a pretty smooth experience. AR Mode over phone can be a little jittery though at times, but also depends on the hardware aka your phone. The xReal Beam might take care of that though when it comes out mid July.
Did you say these are M1 MacBook Pro Compatible? That would be awesome as I'm a musician and use 3 monitors. My MacBook and two others. It would make life so much easier.
Hey Andrew, I've been thinking about side effects on eyes after long periods, like eyes cataracts. Specially since they are closer compared to a regular monitor. Is there anything on the glasses Warnings?
Hi! I have some further questions. The nebula app case you mentioned in this video was it totally functional without the help of XREAL BEAM? (meaning that I do not need to purchase a separate X real beam to get the same setting of the unfolded three screams when I just plug my x real air into Mac)
is the windows update out yet? i have them hooked up to my acer nitro 5 but id like to use them as a second screen instead of just mirroring the monitor.
Very interesting - sci-fi or no, this is more impressive than I'd anticipate this sort of stuff could be based off of VR virtual desktops (where the lenses are a huge limitation for these use cases, regardless of display). What sort of resolution would you say those virtual displays are providing? Size is impressive at first, but resolution so far has been the Achilles heel where I worry I'd need a lot more than 1080p to be able to use these for serious work, as a 4k vr headset translated to maybe a 720p effective virtual monitor
I found the screen stability to be its achilles heel. The integrated Sony OLED displays do wonders for display sharpness - they're more than fine for day to day work and content. You won't want to do any serious creative work on these though.
its 40 PPD, Quest have around 20PPD. It should be same as moving from 480p to 1080p, or 1080p to 4k. In headset to have same PPD you need Quest 2 to be 8k
@@iraklimgeladze5223 Appreciate it's been ages, but my point was that it doesn't matter what the PPI is if the lenses aren't clear enough off center to actually use it like a real monitor.
Does this work for programmers? Having back pain, so it would be cool if I can lay down every now and then and continue working without a shitty posture
Yes, but I usually find that I prefer just using the laptop screen due to the higher resolution. The Nebula app (for showing multiple displays in the glasses) is not smooth at all in my experience, and when I don't use Nebula, the glasses just show one external monitor which is about the same size as my laptop screen. It's nice for keeping my neck straight while working, though.
Not there yet for Windows. I tried using them but found the display grainy forcing me to zoom in to read text. If I'm zoomed in, I no longer have the benefits of a large display and might as well just use the laptop screen. I enjoy watching movies with them though. Nothing better than a 200 inch screen wherever I am.

The only way see the projected screens is to wear the AR glasses,... so you can browse the web with privacy? Also, comes with keyboard - laptop for connecting and can connect also to PC/Mac/Android/iOS/iPadOS... correct?
My question is are they bad for the eyes over the long run. E.g. I am farsighted, and I wonder if I would even be able to see anything through these since they are so close to the eyes
For those interested I installed this on my wife’s 16 inch MacBook Pro 2023, and not only did the three screens work but I was able to use Divvy to give her eight browser windows split. Breathtaking qualities so far on the virtual display!
I have a question. can it be usefull for AR product design purpose. For example can i watch an virtual apple on a real table . There are some softwares on phones that can have AR ability but they have camera and processing the real image with virtual 3d models i think. This is real AR but this glasses is usefull for being a virtual screen for gaming or watching movies only ?
Wholesome video 😊nice job I was wondering, but do they work as a monitor with any other device. Would be a nice feature just to use them as monitor with any device through HDMI port 🎉
Very nice glasses. Apple doesn't even come close to them in terms of lightness of workmanship. I wonder what image they actually give and what the final price will be.
@@sempertard how about watching movie in completely dark room? was it any good?
@@alexamderhamiltom5238 I never tried that specifically, but I don't see that being an issue or a problem.
@@sempertard i mean the quality, i want it atleast like a normal LCD.
It would be cool to see them compared in "office" use with the Lenovo Thinkreality A3, which costs almost 4x times ;) But their projected screen size is, on purpose, smaller (to adapt better to office usage). Working in mobility is getting so close to sci-fi movies ;)
Thinkreality A3 are very heavy on your nose, and this unfortunate makes them uncomfortable to work with.
exclusive collaboration between Meta and mediatek involves co-developing custom silicon, highlighting a strong commitment to the future of AR smart glasses and innovative computing experiences
Get a hoodie to cover em up
The ends should be magnetic removable earbuds
When you wear the glasses, can you see the keyboard well, without a problem? Is it easy or difficult?
A perfect review, thank you. Exactly everything I wanted to know, compatibility, specs, uses, etc. Thank you!
How sharp & bright the virtual multi screen set up is? Is it on par with 2k resolution at least?
If you connect it to a regular device without special software support, don't you have any issues that the image stays 'static' without and gyro happing? Lots of people complain that they have to keep their head perfectly still for a comfortable experience. The moment you move just a bit it can be distracting or you start to hurl :).
This was my experience. It's really a strain on the eyes when trying to read something that is not on the middle of the screen.
I plan on also using it on my camera to check focus, exposure and composition on location. Sci-fi
Does it work?
@@javes2477 yes! You need to get the hdmi adapter and your golden. Also don’t forget the black out covers if your version comes with it. Be prepared to be asked a lot of questions 😂
haha be prepared to be asked a lot of Q's lolz. thanks bro! enjoy. seems AR glasses is worth it! considering I broked my M1 Max screen geezus... @@PopoRamos
@@javes2477 yes! I use it mostly for gaming, but you just can’t beat the portability aspect! Comes in clutch for sure! Make sure you use the right nose adapter for you because it can be a bit finicky finding the perfect position at first. And obviously keep the “screen” glass clean as any finger prints distorts the image or causes some corner light reflections. Lastly wear a black shirt if possible (helps keep the reflections down, as the lenses reflect what’s directly bellow them)
deeem to informative, thank you so much bro@@PopoRamos
any recommendation on an ar glasses that can use emby from your computer to watch movies without having to plug the glasses into the computer - in other words , using wifi signals
Great vid! Could these be your only monitor with a Mac Mini or Mac Studio?
I'm considering something like this with my laptop because it doesn't have OLED. I do a lot of editing. Would you recommend something like this?
What were the virtual monitor's settings? It looks like scaling has been cranked up. Is it unusable for text based work?
Im a little late , but i wanted to ask about the pixel density . do you have problems with the resolutions ?
Sci-fi! Awesome review of the glasses. I wonder though how it compares to the Vitrue?
I want to buy a pair and use them as a dual monitor setup. My question is - are the monitors fixed in space or do they move along with my head movements? Thanks!
What resolution monitor do you usually use? How did the ppi feel when doing office work all day?
is it good for software coding work? how is the virtual screen resolution? thanks
How is it for programming?
How long does the battery last if used to watch media from your phone? I just discovered these yesterday so lots to learn!
is this good for work use for viewing pdfs, powerpoints, webpages etc? is the text and readability crisp & clear like a real monitor and the color reproduction ? and what about media viewing experience like movies etc ?
After that time using it, do you this is a true replacement for monitors (like buying😊 it instead of monitors) or still not there?
Thanks.
piracy is the way to go
Really great video, i am really interested in AR Smart Glasses because of what you can do with it, and this video has helped me a lot to understand what AR Glasses Really are (Also Formula 1 is cool) ;)
i need to move my head to see the other monitors? i think that would be a dealbreaker for me for working with multiple monitors. i'm surprised you didnt mention this. (i like seeing the progress though!)
Did you try to open WebXR or WebVR scene via the web browser? Can you project a 3D background? Is there an option for the geolocated AR scenes? Do they have plugins or APIs to connect 3D animation and 3D object-building software like Blender or Unreal?
i am courious about this too. I know that epson glasses have this kind of features but i couldt understand if this product has or not. Did u find the answer ?
Would love to see a video with the air pro 2 version :)
Thanks Andrew, definitely buying myself a pair of these for work :)
Can you use this while continuously charging? So the battery will not get depleted. Just like a laptop would.
Did you get the beam? How do you find latency for gaming? I’m still tweaking mine
Do they improve the resolution somehow?
Question: Can I use just my Samsung S24 ultra and dex mode, a bluetooth mouse, and keyboard? Or even a USBc hub
I noticed that during the 3 screen simulation, you can only see the screen you're looking at and it seemed like you were using a follow spot. Is this how they glasses really are or can you see all 3 screens in front of you at the same time? As well, can you lock the screens in place and not have them follow you around the room?
Just bought a pair to hopefully help with neck pain while drawing on my ipad so hopefully it goes well
That framerate looks... unconvincing. How did you find it? Or is it just the recording.
It's incredibly impressive. Thank you for sharing a perfect review!
Hey Andrew, I've been thinking about side effects on eyes after long periods, like eyes cataracts. Specially since they are closer compared to a regular monitor. Is there anything on the glasses Warnings?
"Sci-Fi", This is awesome!
I'm thinking of buying a portable mini PC with N100 processor. Can I use glasses without a pc monitor? So can glasses serve as a monitor?
Can I wear these while exercising on a stationary bike? Or would head bobbing cause motion sickness? Also is the gear sweat resistant enough?
Hi! I have some further questions. The nebula app case you mentioned in this video was it totally functional without the help of XREAL BEAM? (meaning that I do not need to purchase a separate X real beam to get the same setting of the unfolded three screams when I just plug my x real air into Mac)
I think a stability function would be great to learn the natural head movement from any user using it and stabilize the windows to that small movement
is the windows update out yet? i have them hooked up to my acer nitro 5 but id like to use them as a second screen instead of just mirroring the monitor.
I wonder how people who use eyes glasses to use Nreal? Can you do review how will be the set up with mini laptop? or Raspberry Pi 4?
Does this work for programmers? Having back pain, so it would be cool if I can lay down every now and then and continue working without a shitty posture
Hi! Cool gadget 😁. If I get 2 of these, can my wife and I watch movies together using them? Is it the "movie" feel of an oculus? Thank you
Great review! I wonder if anyone knows about the possible harms to vision…
Kinda used to high refresh rates now. So I'll just wait for better models.
The display color is over saturated. Is it how it is or is it just because of your video editing filter?
Is the resolution good enough for Excel and coding? Feels very sci-fi ;)
@@FromDesertTown thanks! Have you tried the Meta Quest 3 as a comparison?
Not there yet for Windows. I tried using them but found the display grainy forcing me to zoom in to read text. If I'm zoomed in, I no longer have the benefits of a large display and might as well just use the laptop screen. I enjoy watching movies with them though. Nothing better than a 200 inch screen wherever I am.
Did you watch any 3d movies on those Glasses, how whas the experience?? if i want to connect those glasses to my gaming pc i asume i need to connect them directly to my Gpu,how long is the cable??? .
Whats your opinion about Rokid Max are Xreal Air better,i am looking for an alternative for my 3D tv and i want something for me and me only,Great Review............
Omg, thanks your effort and time for making this incredible interesting video!
Sci fi ❤ So intriging Andrew! I think I am going to get one. Which brand should I go for?
The only way see the projected screens is to wear the AR glasses,... so you can browse the web with privacy? Also, comes with keyboard - laptop for connecting and can connect also to PC/Mac/Android/iOS/iPadOS... correct?
Yes, not SUPER private, unless you use the cover. Get a BT keyboard, does connect to most of those except has issues with iphones
Do you need the beam to be able to use the fixed screen mode? Can that be done with just being plugged into the phone or a windows pc?
Wholesome video 😊nice job
I was wondering, but do they work as a monitor with any other device. Would be a nice feature just to use them as monitor with any device through HDMI port 🎉
I wear glasses, I have 2 degrees of astigmatism, can I adjust them?
Very nice glasses. Apple doesn't even come close to them in terms of lightness of workmanship. I wonder what image they actually give and what the final price will be. Personally, I wouldn't spend more than $500 on such technology and I'm not from the US. However, if this is a solution for projectors, I might even think about it carefully.
Actually these glasses go for around 400 USD
Does it not charge while plugged into the MacBook?
Does the physical screen turn black while you’re viewing screens in AR?
Does this thing work for programmers? Thanks!
Sci-fi
I have specs, are these still recommended?
This is incredible. Can I wear this over my regular glasses?
how is the resolution of text? do you feel comfortable reading text for 5 hours?
How do you seal incoming light from all around the glasses ? If not this will destroy the complete experience of V.R. not ?
Mine had patches of blurry text that made working impossible. They sent me a replacement and it was still blurry
it’s quite floater inducing, if you haven’t got them floating in your vision already.
when are these being made available for ios computers?
Can you use it with linux?
