  • Today im taking you along with me on how we mow our hay every year on the homestead. We have baled our own hay for decades to feed out livestock.

    This was the coolest cutting and baling video I've seen as of today. Nice job Mike.

      Thank you Mr Kenny. The raking and baling video I hope to get edited in the next day or two and show that process

      I honestly didn't notice it that much that day we were mowing. When I was editing I was thinking it was a very beautiful day for filming.

    Great explanations as always Mike! I didn’t realize how much I didn’t know about this process even though it happens all around me.

    Hayyyyyy mike! Always had fun baling hay with my old friends. They went the accumulator route now so no more dodging hay bales in the hay wagon 😂 keep on bailing!

      Hey Tony. Lol if I was doing alot of sqare bales I would definitely have an accumulator as well. Those are a life saver

    That is a crazy man! Didn’t know that was how a disc mower worked. Tiny blades but they work well

      Thank you Dustin. It has become a useful piece of camera gear. Got some good drone baling also.

    What one do u like better ? The more you cut and bail it the better the hay will be . It will eventually get rid of the weeds . Well not completely but the grasses will be able to live more

      Hands down I prefer the disc mower over the haybine. It's easier to drag down the road, simpler less moving parts, amd just works.
      Yes this helps with slowing weeds down and promoting grass growth. We still try to spray weeds early on in the year when we're able. Sometimes the fields get too wet to spray from rain

    2 mowers can knock a lot of hay down in a day!

      @TheRustyGarageandHomestead  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes they can. All these were the fields within a few miles of home. This same day they mowed 3 other fields plus the ones in this video.

      There is 80 here on the original homestead.
      We don't bale any of it though. Not enough pasture.
