I feel like I should personally thank whomever casted this production. My favorite actor (Will Chase) and favorite actress (Laura Osnes) in a Rodgers and Hammerstein
Good Lord, what a great clip. If there is a Broadway performer more beautiful than Laura Osner, I haven't seen her. Will Chase is remarkable, and what can you say about Leslie??? A GREAT star!!! Tom Wopat??? I would sell my soul for a video of this performance!!! I love the show...wish someone would doctor the book and try it again on Broadway!!!
+Gerry Reeves Right on, Gerry. Way back when they show tunes were actually pop tunes on the radio, "Everybody's Got A Home But Me" by Eddie Fisher got tons of airplay. But not much was said about the musical. Showbiz iron! Great story. Nice songs.
I knew the show too because I used to have this I Love Lucy video where Lucille Ball and Desi Arnez were on the Ed Sullivan Show, and on the same episode Ed interviewed Rodgers and Hammerstein about their (then) new musical Pipe Dream and they even showed clips of the original cast. And I also had a CD of Rodgers and Hammerstein which contained the songs "All at Once You Love Her" and "The Next Time It Happens" and I really loved the music!
I love "Pipe Dream." I loved it when I heard it as a kid; I love it today. Despite my love for the original cast, William Johnson and Judy Tyler, I love the Encore cast. I would like to see the book redone as Steinbeck intended it and see the musical produced again today. Without the puritanican gutting, I think it can be a hit. The score is out of this world!!!
completely agree at last somone else who thinks the musical should be produced today great score one of the best R& H wrote I'm always sing the tines have loved it since I first heard it 30 odd years ago
Its one of the few times that the revival cast was better than the original 1955Broadway cast. I.prefer William Chase Laura Osnes and Leslie Uggans over the 1955 singers William Johnson(1916-1956) Judy Tyler (1932-1957) and the soprano Helen Traubel.
In fact Julie Andrews Barbara Cook Marni Nixon and Florence Henderson tested as Susy. Barbara and Florence were rejected because of their youthful looks I dont know why Marni wasnt cast and Julie made My Fair Lady instead. So a mezzo soprano Judy Tyler was cast and Susy s keys were lowered for her .So Laura Osnes sings the original Keys. When Alfred Drake rejected the role a similar barítone performer William Tabbert was cast. After Ezio Pinza success in South Pacific they cast an.operatic soprano Helen Traubel. The musical was a tragic flop both Bill Johnson and Judy Tyler died few years later. The revival was better cast with the Keys Rodgers originaly composed.

000h! "Everybody's Got A Home But Me" & "All At Once You Love Her" were played extensively on the radio in the 50s.
...musical? Perfection!
yes Julie would have, Rodgers& Hammerstein wanted her to do it, she did of course work with them in the end on 'Cinderella'

It's Michael Swift!
Nobody has seen it, blatantly wrong. 42nd Street Moon in SF did a terrific staged reading with dance numbers of Pipe Dream back around 1995.
+Showbiz David Thanks for the info, Showbiz David. :)

OMG Will Chase is hilarious xD
Even Dick and Oscar's less successful shows, like "Pipe Dream," made back their investments.
