Honestly I I am going to get it once it comes out. I have been waiting for Disney to allow arcade one up to release a Tron cabinet. And now that it’s finally happened I am looking forward to its release. The original Tron is one of my favorite films and the arcade game as one of my favorite arcade games so this will definitely make a fine addition to my game room that I am setting up.
@@PDubsArcadeLoft I think I’ll like it. I played the Tron cabinet in a local arcade near me. I’ve never played Discs of Tron. We’ll see how it ends up. I do have a good feeling about it. I would love to see an Arcade1UP Paperboy cabinet
Not a fan of the Tron video games but I can appreciate why someone who's nostalgic would want this. The cab is stunning and was a fixture of early 80s arcades.
Definitely will be getting one. We're not getting any younger and you can always make more money, I doubt I'll ALWAYS be able to get a Tron cabinet replica. Sure the games are a bit repetitive but as someone who appreciated the old arcades of the 80's, this one brings me back. These will sell out pretty quick as I think the "this is overpriced!" crowd underestimates the amount of people who are anxious for this.

Great video and great reasons! I actually have been begging for this cabinet for quite some time now. I love Tron, I grew up loving these games, and I have huge nostalgia goggles. Unfortunately I don't love the huge price tag. That's the main reason I may actually hold off on ordering day one. Very conflicted. Here's to hoping someone offers a lower price! 🤞
I played this outside Walmart back when it came out. This and Star Wars was my two go to. So I’ve got it on order now. Just great memories and it looks amazing. Plus the legends can’t really play this very well without the right controls as you covered.
I pre-ordered the Tron cabinet from Arcade 1 Up. Personally, I couldn't be more excited. This is my Mecca cabinet. I've read others upset about the price at $699. But, if you were to find a decent dedicated Tron cabinet or Discs of Tron, you spend $3,500.00+ easily. Therefore, $699 for both classic games seems a no Brainer to me. Play for the Users!
TRON is definitely one of the coolest looking and nostalgic games. Much better to play it like this than on my atgames, but man not at $699. If it never is cheaper, guess I'll never get it.
4:00 - I think nostalgia is the primary reason we buy these games. If not, we'd just play the MAMEs. For me, I absolutely had a connection with this cab... I was obsessed with Tron as a kid; had all the toys, the laser disc film, etc. and spend an insane amount of what little money I had on this game.
This is definitely a nostalgic piece, for me, only because I experienced it, and Discs of Tron in the arcades, and saw the film. I thought GRS was teaming up with A1up, regarding the controller, or maybe they consulted with him, at some point. Don't know. I was SO ready to pre-order, until I saw yet, another unwanted bundle attached to this product, so I didn't even bother. I will wait to see if a SKU comes out, without the stool. I hate being forced to buy junk I do not want, or need. I do like the fact these cabs are starting to look more, and more authentic. Thanks for sharing this.
I got Tron for $630 and free shipping with the coupon COOLTOY featured. I remember playing Tron as a kid and I've been saying the two A1UP's I'd have to have would be Tron and Dragons Lair. Tron doesn't have a super lot of replayability, but I remember going to the arcade as a kid and always playing 1 round of Tron and then moving on to something else. I think this will fit real well in my arcade.
Tron has a hell of a lot of replay ability. Dragons Lair, does not. These are my two most favorite arcade games of all time, but even at $630, it’s overpriced. I’ll bet it comes down Black Friday or close to Christmas.

I’ve got room for 16 1ups in my room and 2 in my living room. Right bow I have 12 in the arcade and just Tempest in the living room. This one is gonna have to go in the living room. It’s WAY to pretty for everyone to not see in the main area of. my house. I reckon Dragons lair will replace that Tempest spot. Great video as always!
I built a 3/4 scale Tron cab and love it as part of my arcade. However, had I known they were coming out with this great looking Tron cab I would have waited and bought it.
I'm sure yours is just as good my friend - and you did it yourself! That means the value of yours is so much higher! That's how I would look at it. My Ms. Pac-Man I built myself - way better (IMO) than any Arcade1Up could produce just for example. Love the work you put into it brother!
Great video and I love Tron but IMO is just not worth the high price tag. The only A1UP cab I own is the Star Wars and I would definitely buy that machine again (at the $400 I paid originally). But their prices are too rich for me. I'll stick with playing Tron on the ALU.
I preordered from Target. Enjoy both games, but love Discs of TRON the most. This is the only way to have accurate controls in a cab. Real requires both cabs…$$$$. Mame doesn’t do it justice with standard arcade controls. I would hope Discs of TRON has the emulated background display vs just the black background all roms seems to show
Thanks for pointing out reason #5 not to buy. I’m a huge Discs of Tron fan and really wanted this cabinet for THAT game. I wasn’t really aware that the original Tron game was vertical, and that this cabinet would therefore have the wrong screen orientation for Discs of Tron. Argh!
I wonder if Arcade 1 up will integrate, emulate, and implement the original arcade background cityscape for Tron Deadly Disks? The original arcade game had that by having the monitor reflect off a special back glass just like Space Invaders. I'm sure they could easily replicate that effect.
I lost an auction for an original brand new Tron cabinet that went for $7000. Been waiting 17 years for something affordable. The game isn’t that fun but just the cabinet is a work of art!
Like many of you I own several 1up cabs. One thing I just don't understand. Even on this cab you can clearly see the screws. SCREW CAP!!!! Thank goodness I have a 3d printer, and the 3d printer colors are available in just about any cabinet color. And I want this cab, but go back and forth due to the cost.
If Arcade1Up is going to do Horizontal and Vertical in one unit they need to come out with a square monitor that can accommodate both with the proper aspect ratio.
For me as long as the themed game is the right aspect I am good. That is why I skipped Tempest. It was the deal breaker for me. When Tempest was part of asteroids I understood why screen was horizontal but they made a tempest cabinet setup to play horizontial. Why?
Pass! I own 12 1up cabs and three of their pinball units. Got them before the insane price mark up. Now have an Atgames pinball table that is expandable, better graphics and bigger and cheaper! Next purchase will be iircage cab that is better built and yes, EXPANDABLE!
It's a great game. One of the top classics in it's era but honestly I think many are going to be priced out of this one unless Walmart sells them without all the upgrades.
I wasn't going to buy because of the price but then saw that Best Buy had it for pre sale. I had a 250 gift card with them that I have been holding onto for awhile and using this dropped the price to a reasonable range for me. I love the look of the game and it is nostalgic for me. This is not a cab you will find in great shape at a great price if looking for an original so arcade1up is the route I'm taking.
Maybe if the cabinet came with gorf and satans hollow since those games had the same flight stick I would consider buying it but I can’t justify spending that money on just tron games
I am a huge fan of the original movie and arcade game as I was 6 when I first saw the movie and played the arcade. The cabinet is a show piece and would look amazing next to my Star Wars cab, but the price is just not right. I got Star Wars for $350 and that was my limit then. I can't see spending over $500 bucks for a two game cabinet, no matter how amazing it looks :( If it ever gets to $350, I will jump.

The main reason I would get this cabinet is just to look at it and watch the attract mode. It would look great in my arcade. But, you’re right, these games kinda sucked. Tron was pretty hard and got boring pretty fast, at least to me it was. But, man, this cabinet looks awesome!
I'd buy this just because Tron (and Tron Legacy) was awesome. The game, eh... the light cycles used patterns. Once you mastered the patterns, it wasn't fun anymore. But the arcade cabinet and everything about it was just as cool as the movie.
So many people saying the games aren't good but then they play boring ass games like fighters, beat em ups and gun games all of which are just copies of each other.
I will definitely not be picking up this cab, not anything else from Arcade1up until Daytona (and maybe not then). This is a great looking cab and the controls certainly have potential, but it's an easy pass.
Why so many comments about the game being repetitive , boring , not aged well etc etc . Almost all of the games in this period were very repetitive and could be considered boring by some people . Space invaders , steroids , Pac-Man etc etc . Same boards over and over score chasers but awesome if you grew up with them ! Why only so many comments about Tron specifically?
Tron and Asteroids don't really "do it" for me. Space Invaders and Pac-Man I can still play. I guess it's all subjective on personal taste. I mean they were the Originals. Obviously late 80's and 90's games got better.

You are correct about the controls as well. I wont be purchasing this. I have to ask myself. What else could I spend my disposable income on that would be approximately 700 to 800 bucks. Answer: a whole lot of better things. =-)
I don't know PDubs, I think I miss the hot takes. I appreciate the balanced overview, but I miss the old videos. Fully agree tho, no normal person will buy this cab. Only for the die-hard fans IMO

Where is the information for the vertical screen? I don't see it on the Arcade1up website... I personally think that a horizontal screen is better for a vertical game than a vertical screen is for a horizontal game and because of that it should be a horizontal screen. If this really is vertical, it would be a first for Arcade1up, would it not? That could be the ultimate deal breaker for me. I hear that Discs of Tron is actually the better of the 2 games.
If you watch the video clips in this video of the live dude actually playing on the real device (not the renders) that is a vertical screen from what I'm looking at.
@@PDubsArcadeLoft I re-watched to get an idea, but I still think it could just be the game being vertical on a horizontal screen. It's always hard to know for sure with any kind of marketing from companies. I believe we'll have to see it in the wild to know for sure, but I will say this: Arcade1up, apparently, hasn't confirmed in writing what the screen shape will be. So there's an indication that it _could be_ vertical. But I personally think that it will most likely be horizontal because Arcade1up is kinda cheap 'n lazy and I think it will be especially true with the screen. I could be wrong, but I'm leaning that way. Plus, I hope it's horizontal.🤞😛
Nope… while nostalgic, not a hyper fan.. This is just my story..Rather buy a Switch and that control panel that lets you play said console on an Arcade 1up cab..
Tron is the inspirational basis of the whole retro style. It heavily influenced the genre of cyberpunk and sci-fi. I think this is why most people want it. The games for the most part are irrelevant for most people.
Once again, Arcade 1Up missed the boat and made this a "no buy" for me. I would have bought this if they would have added Satan's Hollow, GORF, and Zaxxon. How awesome would it be to have to have Zaxxon on this?! But alas, as usual, Arcade 1Up dropped the ball on the games it had the opportunity to put on one of these cabinets and then didn't do it.
The deal breaker for me really is the fact that they have done nothing to rectify the Discs of Tron overlay, which adds a lot to the game in my opinion. Spending nearly 800 and they couldn't be bothered to at least include a physical screen overlay or emulate it? Yeah, no thanks.
@@thecomicdrill I have a suspicion many of those preorders were bought up by people who are going to repost on Ebay and jack up the price pretty high since it's around Christmas time.
Good vid and you cover it well, but I do have 1 thing. I don't think it's fair to have arcade accurate controls as a plus and presumed quality of controls as a negative. I know, this is a preorder vid so you've not been able to accurately test them - so with A1UP's history, I see exactly what you are saying - it's a risk at this juncture. I do see both sides of the risky coin, but I'd have to believe this as just a W. Their dedicated controls like the Outrun wheel and Star Wars flight yolk receive minimal criticism, and I'd expect this to be the case here. If you did need another negative, perhaps A1UP forcing you to purchase a stool an not providing another cheaper option could have been one. Or...just simply say $700 is too much for this x2. I'd also agree these games have not aged well. I enjoyed them in the early 80's, but they don't hold up well in today's era. I get everything I need with these games from my ALU for significantly less $$
"Arcade Accurate Controls" means we are being provided all the standard controls to play both games on a single cabinet. A1Up is Making sure we get the push pull spinner and deflect button for doscs of tron. However, just because we have all the controls- what will the quality be? I'm pretty confident their flight stick will not be "as good" as The GRS Flight stick as Arcade1up historically makes these things as cheaply as possible. Hopefully it's at least decent.
@@PDubsArcadeLoft Yep, like I was saying - I get what you mean. However, since gen 3 I'd say A1UP stock controls are passable for casual players. I'd expect the same here. Even with spring and restrictor gate replacements all the way up to IL sticks that many of us have done to improve A1UP stock controls - they are still not arcade quality which is different that arcade accurate. I have a GRS stick on my ALU - and even that, as good as it is - isn't an arcade stick. You don't notice unless you are side by side, but there's a difference. To your point though - standard controls don't mean anything if it's not playable, therefore I'd argue it doesn't qualify as arcade accurate. If it looks good but controls like a sponge, it is a sponge and not accurate. One thing is a near fact - the control quality will not mirror the price of this cab, leaving the question: will they be "ok" enough, or require a $150 upgrade with the GRS Stick and new Push/Pull spinner? Either way, I'm not buying it at $700. I won't even feel bad if I miss out and they never release it at a lower bare bones point without the stool. It's simply not worth that price.
Don't get me wrong it is a very very awesome looking cabinet with all the lights and bling. But me personally it's not my cup of tea I was never really big on Tron or discs of Tron that I've never heard of until this cabinet came out. So this is going to be a big no go I'm going to have to pass on this one more power to anybody that wants to have this awesome looking cabinet in their arcade. It's just not my cup of tea.
I was born in the mid 70’s. Had an Atari 2600, SEGA Master System, NES, & Super NES. Loved local arcades and loved the movies and music of the 80’s. I never saw the original TRON, nor did I ever play the game. With all that said, this game looks hella stupid, repetitive and boring. $700 for this? 🤮. I will say the flight stick and black light appeals to the 80’s child in me. Presentation is good.

Tron was and is a shitty game with an amazing cabinet and looks like Arcade1up captured most of that. If under $500 I would have already pre-ordered for the nostalgia. I feel the same way about Dragons lair Great Cabinet bad gameplay but the animation in Dragons Lair is amazing and also looks like A1up will deliver a great Dragon Lair so I will get that one even at $700. - That said if I ever see Tron under $500 with the same features minus stool I will pull the trigger. - I am excited about Ridge Racer but again price is key.
Update: got Ridge Racer for $350 last month and just got Tron with stool for $450 -I know better deals exist but I am happy with those prices for waiting.

The gameplay footage in the arcade1up trailer appeared to have the black background.
I noticed that too….I’m just glad they finally made this cab, but would be thrilled if they had a software update later on to add the background

If Arcade1Up is going to do Horizontal and Vertical in one unit they need to come out with a square monitor that can accommodate both with the proper aspect ratio.
For me as long as the themed game is the right aspect I am good. That is why I skipped Tempest. It was the deal breaker for me. When Tempest was part of asteroids I understood why screen was horizontal but they made a tempest cabinet setup to play horizontial. Why?
When tron came out , i ended up getting @98,000 on the score . ( i just hope the same patternes will work.)
I hate they didnt use a horizontal screen then just use pillar boxes for the vertical games. Cause that's acceptable. But squished images are not!

If they have a legacy version of the same cab with more games I would definitely purchase but for the price tag and only two games it’s a pass for me

Pass! I own 12 1up cabs and three of their pinball units. Got them before the insane price mark up. Now have an Atgames pinball table that is expandable, better graphics and bigger and cheaper! Next purchase will be iircage cab that is better built and yes, EXPANDABLE!
It's a great game. One of the top classics in it's era but honestly I think many are going to be priced out of this one unless Walmart sells them without all the upgrades.

I wasn't going to buy because of the price but then saw that Best Buy had it for pre sale. I had a 250 gift card with them that I have been holding onto for awhile and using this dropped the price to a reasonable range for me. I love the look of the game and it is nostalgic for me. This is not a cab you will find in great shape at a great price if looking for an original so arcade1up is the route I'm taking.
Must have for my collection. Tron game play is still 100% better than Dragon's Lair!
Maybe if the cabinet came with gorf and satans hollow since those games had the same flight stick I would consider buying it but I can’t justify spending that money on just tron games

I am a huge fan of the original movie and arcade game as I was 6 when I first saw the movie and played the arcade. The cabinet is a show piece and would look amazing next to my Star Wars cab, but the price is just not right. I got Star Wars for $350 and that was my limit then. I can't see spending over $500 bucks for a two game cabinet, no matter how amazing it looks :( If it ever gets to $350, I will jump.

The main reason I would get this cabinet is just to look at it and watch the attract mode. It would look great in my arcade. But, you’re right, these games kinda sucked. Tron was pretty hard and got boring pretty fast, at least to me it was. But, man, this cabinet looks awesome!

I'd buy this just because Tron (and Tron Legacy) was awesome. The game, eh... the light cycles used patterns. Once you mastered the patterns, it wasn't fun anymore. But the arcade cabinet and everything about it was just as cool as the movie.

So many people saying the games aren't good but then they play boring ass games like fighters, beat em ups and gun games all of which are just copies of each other.
Everyone has their own 'flavor' or taste in games. It's all subjective.
I will definitely not be picking up this cab, not anything else from Arcade1up until Daytona (and maybe not then). This is a great looking cab and the controls certainly have potential, but it's an easy pass.

Why so many comments about the game being repetitive , boring , not aged well etc etc . Almost all of the games in this period were very repetitive and could be considered boring by some people . Space invaders , steroids , Pac-Man etc etc . Same boards over and over score chasers but awesome if you grew up with them ! Why only so many comments about Tron specifically?
Tron and Asteroids don't really "do it" for me. Space Invaders and Pac-Man I can still play. I guess it's all subjective on personal taste. I mean they were the Originals. Obviously late 80's and 90's games got better.

You are correct about the controls as well. I wont be purchasing this. I have to ask myself. What else could I spend my disposable income on that would be approximately 700 to 800 bucks. Answer: a whole lot of better things. =-)

Where is the information for the vertical screen? I don't see it on the Arcade1up website...
I personally think that a horizontal screen is better for a vertical game than a vertical screen is for a horizontal game and because of that it should be a horizontal screen. If this really is vertical, it would be a first for Arcade1up, would it not? That could be the ultimate deal breaker for me. I hear that Discs of Tron is actually the better of the 2 games.
If you watch the video clips in this video of the live dude actually playing on the real device (not the renders) that is a vertical screen from what I'm looking at.
@@PDubsArcadeLoft I re-watched to get an idea, but I still think it could just be the game being vertical on a horizontal screen. It's always hard to know for sure with any kind of marketing from companies. I believe we'll have to see it in the wild to know for sure, but I will say this: Arcade1up, apparently, hasn't confirmed in writing what the screen shape will be. So there's an indication that it _could be_ vertical.
But I personally think that it will most likely be horizontal because Arcade1up is kinda cheap 'n lazy and I think it will be especially true with the screen. I could be wrong, but I'm leaning that way. Plus, I hope it's horizontal.🤞😛

Nope… while nostalgic, not a hyper fan.. This is just my story..Rather buy a Switch and that control panel that lets you play said console on an Arcade 1up cab..
Tron is the inspirational basis of the whole retro style. It heavily influenced the genre of cyberpunk and sci-fi. I think this is why most people want it. The games for the most part are irrelevant for most people.
Yep mant will buy for the Nostalgia Overload..but probably not play the cabinet as much as others in my opinion

Once again, Arcade 1Up missed the boat and made this a "no buy" for me. I would have bought this if they would have added Satan's Hollow, GORF, and Zaxxon. How awesome would it be to have to have Zaxxon on this?! But alas, as usual, Arcade 1Up dropped the ball on the games it had the opportunity to put on one of these cabinets and then didn't do it.

You left off that Disc of Tron has no digitized voice from the original game. Only way to get it is to use mame. Big disappointment.
At the time of filming this video prior to the cabinets release we had no idea that was missing. But definite reason if we had known.

The deal breaker for me really is the fact that they have done nothing to rectify the Discs of Tron overlay, which adds a lot to the game in my opinion. Spending nearly 800 and they couldn't be bothered to at least include a physical screen overlay or emulate it? Yeah, no thanks.

Good vid and you cover it well, but I do have 1 thing. I don't think it's fair to have arcade accurate controls as a plus and presumed quality of controls as a negative. I know, this is a preorder vid so you've not been able to accurately test them - so with A1UP's history, I see exactly what you are saying - it's a risk at this juncture. I do see both sides of the risky coin, but I'd have to believe this as just a W. Their dedicated controls like the Outrun wheel and Star Wars flight yolk receive minimal criticism, and I'd expect this to be the case here. If you did need another negative, perhaps A1UP forcing you to purchase a stool an not providing another cheaper option could have been one. Or...just simply say $700 is too much for this x2. I'd also agree these games have not aged well. I enjoyed them in the early 80's, but they don't hold up well in today's era. I get everything I need with these games from my ALU for significantly less $$
"Arcade Accurate Controls" means we are being provided all the standard controls to play both games on a single cabinet. A1Up is Making sure we get the push pull spinner and deflect button for doscs of tron. However, just because we have all the controls- what will the quality be? I'm pretty confident their flight stick will not be "as good" as The GRS Flight stick as Arcade1up historically makes these things as cheaply as possible. Hopefully it's at least decent.
@@PDubsArcadeLoft Yep, like I was saying - I get what you mean. However, since gen 3 I'd say A1UP stock controls are passable for casual players. I'd expect the same here. Even with spring and restrictor gate replacements all the way up to IL sticks that many of us have done to improve A1UP stock controls - they are still not arcade quality which is different that arcade accurate. I have a GRS stick on my ALU - and even that, as good as it is - isn't an arcade stick. You don't notice unless you are side by side, but there's a difference. To your point though - standard controls don't mean anything if it's not playable, therefore I'd argue it doesn't qualify as arcade accurate. If it looks good but controls like a sponge, it is a sponge and not accurate. One thing is a near fact - the control quality will not mirror the price of this cab, leaving the question: will they be "ok" enough, or require a $150 upgrade with the GRS Stick and new Push/Pull spinner? Either way, I'm not buying it at $700. I won't even feel bad if I miss out and they never release it at a lower bare bones point without the stool. It's simply not worth that price.
Don't get me wrong it is a very very awesome looking cabinet with all the lights and bling. But me personally it's not my cup of tea I was never really big on Tron or discs of Tron that I've never heard of until this cabinet came out. So this is going to be a big no go I'm going to have to pass on this one more power to anybody that wants to have this awesome looking cabinet in their arcade. It's just not my cup of tea.

I was born in the mid 70’s. Had an Atari 2600, SEGA Master System, NES, & Super NES. Loved local arcades and loved the movies and music of the 80’s. I never saw the original TRON, nor did I ever play the game. With all that said, this game looks hella stupid, repetitive and boring. $700 for this? 🤮. I will say the flight stick and black light appeals to the 80’s child in me. Presentation is good.

They got 2 left at the brick for $499 with stool but it's not on website you have to go in the store.
Tron was and is a shitty game with an amazing cabinet and looks like Arcade1up captured most of that. If under $500 I would have already pre-ordered for the nostalgia. I feel the same way about Dragons lair Great Cabinet bad gameplay but the animation in Dragons Lair is amazing and also looks like A1up will deliver a great Dragon Lair so I will get that one even at $700.
- That said if I ever see Tron under $500 with the same features minus stool I will pull the trigger.
- I am excited about Ridge Racer but again price is key.
Update: got Ridge Racer for $350 last month and just got Tron with stool for $450
