The capitalization of education where it’s no longer about learning but about convincing your future overlord that you are a good enough tool to be used and maybe if your lucky he will then award you a livable wage.
omg im understanding so much now. my professor is not even able to understand these things to the class and he claims that is his speciality. thank you so much
Well after a very quick simulation, it came out that the difference between staggered and eclipsed was ~12kj/mol -> this corresponds to the termal energy at about 1.5K, so ethane freely rotates at essentially all temperatures. As for the usefulness of Newman projections, outside of stereochemistry, newman projections can be useful to justify major and minor products, especially in elimination reactions!
I think one thing I haven't heard Sal say (yet at least) which is a very useful idea is this: The atoms 'try' to pack in space in a way that will make each one as FAR away as possible from the others.
Great video!!!...the color scheme helps a lot here...one note though...the terms Configuration and Conformation are different especially in organic chem. Configuration refers more to the stereochemical aspect of molecules where bonds must be broken but in conformations, only rotations around a sigma bond occur. It's kinda annoying but many professors accentuate this distinction. Thanks again!
How do u know which is the correct way the substituent belong. It could be on either side and called the same thing. Due to that, there's uncertainty where it goes on a Newman project. Which is the correct way?
just to make sure: i thought i there was a higher potential energy when the electrons were further away from the nucleus? meaning staggered will have a higher potential energy.
You're right, he could be more like the crap teachers we all have who explains a concept once and never goes back to it. Leading everyone to forgetting and not understanding.
9:03 If you want to get to the Newman Projections.

danke mucho gracias amigobonasera merci merci ai ai ai arigato gosaimas!
Thank you Jesus
Wish I saw this comment before I started watching lol

THANKS SO SO SO MUCH!!
He cleared all my confusion about hybridization
I love Khan academy because it is colourful 😀
100000 hours of watching lectures online = walk away with nothing.

khan is my fave educational youtube. I credit it to helping me pass my university entrance exam
Thank you for using colours! I seem to only understand things like this, you are a great teacher :)
I'm from Kazakhstan and I watch Khan Academy and it helped me a lot thanks
"and you know what a saw horse looks like, a saw horse, well,uh uh it looks like what am about to draw " lol amazing man you are Mr. Khan

Great intro to Newman Projections! I like the "wind" / "unwind" metaphor! 😅
i feel like crying from relief because i understand now

Kevin Octacok he did at 13:13
For the people asking, this can be done via "paint" program....
just fill the background with black, and do it. or do it on a white background

Thanks a LOT for your awesome explanation. I finally understand this topic after watching your videos!
I swear to god,if I ever get my doctors degree, you are the first I'll mention up there.
Make a video on sp hybridization
Their is already a video on whole hybridization
wow i love this guy
this is where i go whenever i have a midterm
Same here, from 2020 :)
you are amazing thanks for taking your time w/ this
Gv
thanks for making it easier.
what program are you using for this? and how can you "write" things on the screen. thank you so much for the videos. you are a blessing.
thanks for this video. i didn't learn this in AP Chem last year. learned something new =]
Great, Thanks!.
wow, these videos are amazing
Wow thank you this will save my butt.
thank you very much your videos make the information stuck in my mind you are really excellent, thanx a lot
i cannot believe how long it took you to explain each aspect of this...
What a great video! Thank-you!
i get the Newman projections, thank you
thank you soo much..great teaching effort
best part of khan academy is the dark mode ! (black background)
should have learned this as a four year old - it would have hit me - i would have understood
thank you so much I watch all of your videos
helped alot , thanks .
Gracias.
Caltrops! Tetsubishi. The things the Ninjas through on the ground. One point always points up for people to step on. That's tetrahedral.
Thank you...
really informative and interesting

interesting video and very informative
Could you tell me which Wacom tablet used here for your lecture? Thanks.
I love you. Like actually.
WOWWW dude!!!!! ur the best! :D (from tunisia :p :D )
we need "balls" to represent these molecules... oh yes we do :>

i love his voice,,, it is super cool ,,, his name plz >o
he’s the founder salman khan. it’s in the description :)
Can you calculate your good deed? :)
Hahaha
[[[ VOTE KHAN FOR PRESIDENT ]]]
I think that he confused in the Newman and sawhorse configuration....the saw horse is the opposite one and Newman is the same direction one...
"Horseshoe projection" 😂 anyway, Khan academy really helps! ☕
this black molecule (8:20).... LOL!
Sal! You keep confusing yellow with green and vice versa.
Eichorn?
The video was great but i think you are colour blind because you called yellow as green on 10:11
YOOOOOOOOOOOOO whats gucci
this entire video could take half the time if he didnt repeat everything he said a million times
You're right, he could be more like the crap teachers we all have who explains a concept once and never goes back to it. Leading everyone to forgetting and not understanding.
its yahoo doodlepad, but i dont know haw to get that. Cuz i wanna start making vidz too.
this black molecule.... LOL!
kuch padhna baaki hai tera ? 🤣🤣🤣
fack, tu to hindi samajh hii nhi payega🤦
