I think this is one of those things where you have to stare at it until it "clicks." I get the concept, it's just the visualization and getting used to it.
This stuff, I don't really understand it at the moment, but this is the type of field I strive to learn more about and probably get a profession in. This stuff is so fascinating....just the pure concept and functionality of it all.
I seldom write my opinion about these educational videos but this one is excellent. It is not easy to visualize those 3D molecules on a piece of paper sheet.
You guys should consider doing teachers workshops or something, they could learn alot from you. For going on 3 weeks of class I've been dreading this upcoming test because this shit confuses the hell out of me. But with these videos, I feel I have some hope
omg so puzzling! but i think i understand a bit now one qn though, how would u know which c-c bond to look at for newman projection? why C1-C2 and not of other combination?
+Sophia henry It really doesn't matter -- you can draw any one you'd like -- but you want to look for one that includes the CH3 group as one of its substituents. Sal actually draws the C1-C2 eclipse, but also the C4-C5 eclipse because those carbons are not connected to the C1-C2 bond!
It took me pausing the video and just staring at the newman structure for 8 mins until it finally clicked. Finally have a grasp on this stuff.
I've spent so long trying to figure this out and this video finally make it click. Thank you!!!
we just went over it in class today and I got it...but this just made it look so much better...its art really.....thank you for explantions

how are you supposed to know where to bond the H atoms? like how do you specifically know that you have to have the axial and equatorial orientation?
I'm in the empire business!
is the anti the same name of staggered ?
i . love . you .
13:25 it's not configuration. It's confirmation. Thank you.
Conformation to be precise
For the second ring, why carbon 5?
but if you're flipping it upside-down the methane is going to remain axial, no?
