You are a life saver! I own 2 mini beams and was trying to program them with my new Rockville W2 DMX controller. I couldn't figure them out no matter what I did. Then I found this video and you explained and demonstrated everything so perfectly!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! SUBSCRIBED!
Hi, I started to watch some of your videos recently and I got to say that your channel is so underrated you are very helpful and your videos are so informative thanks for always including the links of the products as well, this is great especially for new Djs with tight budget.
Hi Steve wonderful video as usual. Both of these are on my shopping list, but I have to admit I didn't know the real difference between the two, and your video helped me make a decision. I also need to thank you; About 2 months ago, I decided I wanted to get into DMX lighting, but I had no idea where to start. I typed into TH-cam "simple DMX tutorial" and while there were lots of results, yours I found to be the easiest to understand. After looking into your TH-cam channel a bit more, I discovered all of your really helpful videos, and (After watching them) decided to take the plunge and buy my first DMX controller and a pair of LED PAR lights. I was instantly hooked, and now I know which moving head lights I'm going to add to my setup. I really appreciate you taking the time to write such a nice comment. And I'm glad that my videos could be helpful. I've been fascinated with DMX lights since I bought my first PAR 64 incandescent lights (with colored gels) that were controlled by a DXM dimmer pack. Good luck with the moving heads and let me know how it goes. -Steve
Hello, love your channel!! I have a few questions if you don't mind helping me please. We have a small club about 200-225 with a small stage 18 deep x 24 wide. We have live rock and country bands on weekends. I have bought 2 Chauvet gig bars and 2 Chauvet 4 plays.(Got them from a friend very cheap) Now we are wanting a moving spotlight effect and were looking at the 30 watt mini spots you did a review on. My question is do I have to have a haze machine to see the white spot lights? We were going to buy 4 of them, but the singer for Steelheart says no fog machines in his contract. We love the effects of the intimidator by Chauvet but they are 1200 ea and we aren't ready to drop that kinda money yet lol. Any recommendations is appreciated. 1. Do I have to have a haze machine to see spotlight effects? 2. Is there something better you'd recommend than 4 of the 30 watt ZKYML mini moving spots 3. Will a Chauvet DMX control board run the mini spot lights or will another board besides Chauvet run the Chauvet lights? ( we need a dmx controller also) Thank You so much we love your opinions and reviews!! Marlon
Hi- -If you want to see the beams of a light (or laser) in the air, you need particles for them to reflect off of (as a hazer is designed to create) Without some haze, fog, or smoke you will only see where the light hits the walls or floor. -Any light that can be controlled by receiving DMX, can be controlled by a Controller (control board) that sends out DMX. Different models or manufacturers shouldn't matter. -I believe there are many Chinese lights that are a good value but there is going to be a big difference between a $75 light and a $1200 one. The less expensive lights have worked well for me as a casual musician gigging out a couple times a month, but for a permanent professional venu, your mileage may vary. Appreciate your kind words and thanks for watching!
Note: this is not a single 30W White LED. It is only a 10W LED, total power consumptions is 30W. There is a stronger LED available, but then you have a fan instead of the heatsink.
Appreciate that correction. Sometimes it's hard to get accurate information regarding the actual LED wattage of some of these budget fixtures. Since making this video (years ago) I have determined the same thing.
If you go to the menu controls and go to DMX mode, the light should go off (if it doesn't you will need to lower the dimmer value on CH6 to a value of zero) Other than that, the only way is to unplug it ☹️
Hi Steve. I just bought a gobo light and do not have a DMX machine. I am find with using the SHWN mode that has the 5 demos (settings 0-4). Is there anyway speed that up with changing any of the channel information?
Can you set the Mini Gobo on a pattern (Non flower etc, more like a circle) like a mini spot? I was hoping to use this on a front tree and have mini spotlight for guitar and bass player.
Yes- one of the patterns on the gobo is a simple circle and with the white color its the closest you can get to a spot (with a fairly narrow beam) Appreciate you watching...
Hey got a question is there a way I can shut off the gobo designs on the light itself? I don't have a dmx controller, so just wondering if there's a way I can shut off the different gobo designs and keep a solid 🔴 one ?
Thats a good question. Although you can go into the menu controls and set quite a few functions without DMX, I don't know any way to set the individual gobo patterns (including "no pattern") or individual colors without a DMX controller. Simple DMX controllers are pretty inexpensive- you might have to put one on your shopping list 🙂 Thanks for watching!
Not very tech minded Could I ask why the Gobo Patterns end up not showing full pattern. It either does half or has half of one pattern and half of another pattern as if it isn't in alignment. Hope you understand what I mean. I do have a video of it. Thanks for any help / advice
thanks for the video it was really helpful. just a few questions...can you run 4 of these through dmx cables connected to each other to make them synchronised with the sound activated setting? in other words make them synchronise without a dmx controller? also with the mini gobo when its on auto mode can you set it so the mini spot is always on and not cycling through the patterns? thank you!
You can not alter the auto modes unfortunately. You can link multiple of the same lights together to have them run in unison. You can also have them work in opposit directions if desired. Hope this helps.
Thanks DJ Kris for beating me to this- Yes, if you set one as a master in sound active mode and the rest to slaves they will all move in sound active unison.
Hey Steve, What's the best bang for the buck with moving head lights? I have a room that's 40 feet wide by 75 feet depth by 16 feet height. I'm guessing these mini movers wouldn't be bright enough for a room that size? Any guidance on what lights to purchase would be appreciated Thx
Hi- That's a pretty large room for mini movers like the ones in this video. There are so many different types of moving head light options and features (wash, beam, gobo, etc.) it kind of depends on what kind of effect you are going for. If you have a smaller budget (like i do) and aren't running shows 7 days a week you might look at Shehds. They have many mid range budget friendly options. Appreciate you watching!
@@croissantproductions Yeah. That's True but there are beams that use a different lens to mix the colours and create a more homogenised beam. Most of these use an ACL lens.
Great video. I appreciate your channel. I am just beginning a journey to add 3 or 4 lights in a hangar that I am looking to build, that during the boring months of the year, I could have some friends over for some music, some drinks, and have a few fun lights to be able to give a better atmosphere than "we're just hanging out in the hangar, which is basically a big barn with a wide-door on it". Curious about the MiniGobo. It looks like it has one "Open" Gobo spot, and this is something that I have been struggling with as I have started my research. I would love to be able to get a custom Gobo made that has a logo or something like that on it, but I can't tell if these lights allow you to swap out the Gobos for something custom, or are the Gobos glued into the unit and permanent? Is there an easy way to tell when looking at the descriptions if the Gobo's can be changed and customized?
That's a good question and something I spent some time researching a while back. Short answer is no you can't customize the gobos on these small lights but I think a real DIYer could probably make it happen. You can also buy projectors like this: amzn.to/3mnfDpA They are specifically made for using custom gobos. Thanks for watching!
I've seen those double sided lights online. Seems like a lot of features for the price. I definitely would like to do a review on them- hopefully soon. Thanks for watching...
Hello, I´m trying to set up 2 gobos with the dmx controller. I want to put them in one color and moving, but there is no channel for movement. So all the 9 first channels seem to be to set a fixed point, but with the sound mode the color starts to change, and with no syncronization between both. Is it possible to set up both of them with movement in one fixed color and in mirror mode (one looking left, one looking right) with the dmx controller? Thank you!!
The best way to acheive that would be to program multiple scenes with the same color but the different postions you want the lights to move to. Then program the scenes into a chase. (The Obey 40 lets you trigger chases with sound) Will take a bit of time to program the scenes and chases but should get you the look you want.
That stand is supposed to be able to hold up to 50 lbs and 4 of either of these lights are much lighter so should be totally fine (unless of course it’s windy or someone clumsy bumps into it haha)
Yes- you can daisy chain them together and it will work perfectly. You just have to make sure each one is set to its own unique dmx starting address with no overlapping channels.
Hi- You can access all these functions by repeatedly pressing the "menu" button on the front panel. Press it 7 times until the LED display says "SenS" This is where you can adjust the mic sensitivity with the up and down buttons. (press "Enter" to save) If you press it 6 more times you will see "temp" Then press the enter key and you will see the surface temp of the lamp. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
@@LearnLizard I appreciate your videos because I'm going into freelance soon. I've almost watched all of them trying to teach myself the art and science
Hello, i have a problem with the same controler. With the tapsync function, in auto chase mode, when y press 3 times or more the button, nothing happend and the speed fader stay the rythm master. Have you got the same problem or a solution ?
It sounds like you are doing it correctly. You could try resetting the unit by powering off and then back on while holding "Bank up" and "auto/del" Hope that helps and thanks for watching.
Thanks for that suggestion. I have been wanting to do a PC software video for quite a while now and will definitely move it up on the priority list :) Appreciate you watching!
Yes, the Tomtop lights have gone up in price quite a bit, but you can find lower cost alternatives in the description to this video. They basically all program the same way, so this video should work as a tutorial for any similar version. Thanks for watching!
I would like to see a real world application with you using these light fixtures. You got any videos of that? You have 6 of the beams now? How do you use them in a gig set up?
Answer I have six uking moving spots I am having a problem with with the last one in line I have five of them doing the same thing but the last one does not want to work in sync with the rest I'm trying to establish three left and three right how do I do this with the DMX controller
Hi- Is the last one in the line doing the same thing as the other 5 only at a different speed? This may be because it is calibrated differently from the factory. You could try doing a factory reset on all the units. If it is responding completely differently make sure it is set to the same DMX starting address as the other 5. To establish 3 lights being controlled differently than the other 3 on the controller you need to set each group to a different starting address. For example on the Obey 40 which is a 16 channel controller, you would set the first 3 to a starting address of 1 and the second 3 to a starting address of 17. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
Hi- Cycle through the menu functions until you get to "Pint". (this is for X-axis rotation) Press ENTER, then select "on" for forward or "yes" for reverse. The next menu item is called "tint" where you set Y-axis forward or reverse the same way. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
Thats a good suggestion- I can say that the Mini Beam's light beam is quite narrow - so it looks really similar in size even when you get back a long distance, but the gobo definitely changes a lot depending on how high it is mounted. Thanks for watching!
Each of these have both auto and sound active modes so you don't have to use a DMX controller although you have more control over all the features with DMX. Thanks for watching!
Yes that is true. There are 4 separate colors and you can control their levels but they don't really mix to create new colors, only combine to make a brighter white when they are all on. Even with those limitations I am still really happy with mine (I have 6 now)
These lights are on the smaller side, and although I wouldn't recommend looking directly into them I would think they are safe to point out to an audience (unlike lasers) Appreciate you watching...
Your content is really great! all vids are to the point and a good source of information. I'm basicly bingewatching all of these lol. Can you recommend good DMX recorders ? I'm looking for a recorder with MIDI IN (so the playback of a predetermined DMX file is triggered by a certain MIDI note), and I don't want to use a laptop on stage.
Well I've never heard of a DMX recorder per se, but if you are triggering your scenes with MIDI, I think your best solution is to use an iPhone, iPad (or Android) device with a Midi recording and playback app. (there are SO many) Here's one way to do it: th-cam.com/video/TlQPGW-gHGE/w-d-xo.html
Please help! I have used the LIXADA 30w moving heads for a few years now. Great lights! I have the 4 older models (the ones with all black around the display) I recently purchased 2 new Lixada lights (the ones with silver around the display just like on your video) I cannot seem to make them work via DMX to match my other lights. Are they not compatible with my older models? My old lights are all on DMX address: 008, CH11. I have the new lights with all the same settings but nothing. The new lights do read "8" instead of "008" if that makes a difference. Any advice? Anything would be appreciated. Thank You. *I control my lights via the DMX go app with wireless dongles/dmx cable daisy-chain. The new lights have the same wireless dongles on the same Channel.
The old and new lights should work in a similar manner. I'm thinking possible the new lights are not retaining their DMX starting address. Are you pressing and holding "Enter" after you set the address? I would try setting just a single old and new light both to a starting address of 1 and taking it from there until you get both working the same. Hope that helps and good luck getting everything working...
Thats a good assessment. I have 6 of the mini gobos now and they really look good synchronized with the hazer running. But the gobo looks great projected on a dance floor so makes sense for parties and events like you say.
Hi from California! That is a very good question. When I made this video, the manufacturer's specifications said that the gobo had a single 30W LED. A viewer pointed out that the wattage was probably not really that high. I just checked the Tomtop website and now they are listing the wattage at 25 so that would be my best guess although it might still be a bit exaggerated. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the encouraging words! I was wondering the exact same thing and thinking of possibly doing a video on it. The light isn't designed to have the wheels swapped out so it would be a bit of a DIY project. I found some replacement wheels online so it must be possible but probably not for the faint of heart.
Great video, if anyone is looking at this thinking about which to buy I personally haven’t used the Gobo before but the mini beam since the 4 are separate mine make 4 squares different colors and it’s just really ugly and I wish it had what the gobo looks like it can do
First of all, thanks for the kind words. I do like my mini beams for the narrow beam they throw and they look good with single colors, but they won't color mix RGB and they definitely don't project any cool patterns like the mini gobo does. The mini gobo is more expensive, but more versatile in many ways.
You can rotate the gobo wheel at different speeds (which selects the pattens) but there isn't an ability to rotate an individual pattern that I am aware of. Appreciate you watching!
Hi Steve, All you’re videos were handy. It gave me more tips and ideas how I use my lights and set up easier. But I’ve got MyDMXGo (ADJ) light software, it’s brilliant for some lights from known brands. But for cheap brands they are not registered on them. Luckily I had enough funding to get ADJ Pocket spots, Equinox Fusion 100 spots MK2. Settings on these are amazing. Never tried the Manuel DMX controllers like the Obey 40 you had. Just wondering are they the same or different like more features and easily functional. Jefferson
Hi- Sounds like you have a nice setup! In general, I've found that software based controllers offer more flexibility and options for control. I have plans to do a video on MyDMXGo as it seems to be very popular with lots of users like you. What I like about hardware controllers like the Obey 40, is they are simple to set up, very reliable, and its great to have real faders and buttons.
@@LearnLizard Hi Steve, Yes that’s the information I would like to know. So maybe if I get hardware DMX controller that can be my backup if the digital software fails at some point. Feel free to check my DJ page on Facebook and browse through the set up. Facebook.com/djjeffo2015 Hoping you releasing another video soon. 🙏🏼
I'm guessing this is probably a software issue rather than a faulty LED. (Typically an entire LED would fail, rather than 3 out of the 4 colors) Is there only Red when it is operating in auto run? If so you can try going into the functions and doing a factory reset. Really hope you get it up an running correctly.
Hi- The mini beam uses individual single color LED's so it's not really designed for accurate color mixing. If you combine the colors the beams will change (if you are using a hazer) but you will still see the individual LED's on the wall. Hope that helps and thanks for watching...
Thanks for that heads up. Its advertised as having a 30w LED and it does have a large heat sink on the back as well as a fan, but now you have me wondering if the 30w claim is exaggerated. I'll need to do some more research to confirm. Appreciate you watching (and fact checking me!)
Do you have t0 have a control panel for the lights to work or can you just plug the lights in and will they do ther thing automatically ........and use the buttons on the front of the lights ......
Both of these lights will work without a DMX controller. Each of them have an auto function (where you can set them to cycle through patterns) and a sound active mode (where they will sync to music with a built in microphone) Thanks for watching!
Hoping to do a Freestyler video one of these days. I'd love to see 24 of those mini spots running together! If you have any video please send a link and thanks for watching.
One important thing to check is that the DMX starting address on the controller is set to same starting address as the controller. Here are 2 videos that might help you get started with the basics: th-cam.com/video/dJQAZsNwcv4/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/X-vSXeuwOwA/w-d-xo.html Congrats on your new Christmas present!
LearnLizard Well thanks but everytime when after I plug it in that DMX cable to the moving head it's still not do anything like when I able to control the light it's not working.
LearnLizard my second question is that do I turn the gobo moving head off the sound mode or just keep it on the sound mode until I plug the cable into the moving head to the DMX controll?????
@@adamssirenadventures6574 Hey, idk if you still need help, but. When you plug in the DMX cable you have to set the light to it. He showed it at some of his videos, then choose channel mode and set it to one. After that just activate the fixture by cliking on that one which you want to op. I'm bad at explaining but if you watch some DMX videos you will understand. :D
There are other differences between a spots and beams, just not on the two consumer models you showed. Also, any time you are using a lensed light, such as these moving heads, blending the RGB LEDs becomes pretty much impossible so you wind up with the three separate, unaligned, and very noticeable red, green, and blue beams. No real yellows, oranges, violets, or any other hue, just red, green, and blue we are all very familiar with. My own bias, but to me they appear cheap. With the gobo colors you may only get 8 or 12 colors (as opposed to the RGB supposed millions but really only 3), but they are true, rich, deep hues.
You need to connect a DMX cable from the "out" jack of the controller to the "in" jack of the light. Here's a video that shows the basics of setting up a simple light with a DMX controller: th-cam.com/video/dJQAZsNwcv4/w-d-xo.html Appreciate you watching!
@@blueverse To hook up more than one light you need to Daisy Chain them together by connecting the DMX out jack of the first light to the in jack of the second one and so on. I’ve connected over 20 lights in a chain and it works great- but on long connections you should use a DMX terminator on the output of the last light. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
I'm not sure if I completely understand your question, but you can put both of these lights in DMX mode via the menu controls (as shown in the video) Here's another video that shows the basics of how to set up a DMX light with a controller: th-cam.com/video/dJQAZsNwcv4/w-d-xo.html Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
Very good video I have an obey 70 and 6 adj focus spots 2 but I want a set 2 going one way and another 2 going another way but I can’t get them to do that can you help thank Mr. learnlizzard
Thanks for the kind words- If you have them all set to the same channel, you can go into the menu settings and reverse the pan (and/or) tilt on half of the lights. Then their movement will be the reverse of the ones that you haven't changed in the menu. Hope that makes sense and thanks for watching!
Don’t know if anyone will see this comment but anyway I have the slightly bigger moving head featured in this video, I originally bought 2 of these but 1 of them didn’t work so I had to send it back. Long story short I couldn’t find the same one to re-order so I got a slightly different one and now I can’t get the dmx to work on the new one. It works fine on the original and I have set the modes to exactly the same but still no luck. If someone could help me out it would me much appreciated 👍
You could try these things: -Do a factory reset of the unit -check that the cable is good and plugged in fully -make sure starting address on controller matches starting address on fixture -Make sure it is the same channel mode as the original (for example 7 vs 14) Good luck and hope you get it up and running...
I've never tried myDMX GO. It's great to be able to control lights with a tablet wirelessly but the hardware only works with the ADJ software so you are in a "locked" system. Yes- But you need to use a DMX controller. You would program one scene with it pointing left, and one scene with it pointing right. Then you would program a Chase with the 2 scenes and you could control the speed of the pan. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
DMX cable is a nice touch? The ones that come with these lights are so cheap I would never use them! You can get some cheap metal end DMX cables easy enough. Once you start paying 200+ per light they start including OK cables. But the plastic end cables these come with are SO CHEAP!
Hmm- that's an interesting perspective. So far I haven't had any problems with the DMX cables that were included with these lights. Maybe I've just been lucky with them. Appreciate you watching!

Well just as an example, a higher end pro fixture like the Elation Proteus Beam costs over $3.5K and weighs over 75 pounds, so these are definitely "mini" in size and price!

Hi any suggestions? I need just a solid white beam spotlight if it comes with different colors as well for options that’s great but I just want to make sure the beam the circle of the beam is large enough for a person to stand in the middle is it possible to find anything for under $100 that’s not junk? Please advise? Thank you.
Hi- I'm thinking to get a light that will illuminate a person you are going to need to spend quite a bit more than $100. Even these little lights are close to that price point now and they are more designed to give color and movement to a DJ or musical performance as opposed to spotlighting a person.

Not very tech minded
Could I ask why the Gobo Patterns end up not showing full pattern.
Hey Steve,
What's the best bang for the buck with moving head lights?
I have a room that's 40 feet wide by 75 feet depth by 16 feet height.
I'm guessing these mini movers wouldn't be bright enough for a room that size?
Any guidance on what lights to purchase would be appreciated
Thx
Hi- That's a pretty large room for mini movers like the ones in this video. There are so many different types of moving head light options and features (wash, beam, gobo, etc.) it kind of depends on what kind of effect you are going for. If you have a smaller budget (like i do) and aren't running shows 7 days a week you might look at Shehds. They have many mid range budget friendly options. Appreciate you watching!
The mini gobo light looks like an ADJ Pocket Spot/Equinox Fusion Spot. The mini beam actually has a single 12w Cree style Quad LED.
Appreciate that additional info- good to know
@@LearnLizard thanks. The optics are the reason you see 4 different colours as opposed to one solid colour.
@@andrewgrindley6773 All multi color LEDs have individual diodes like that. It’s impossible to get an actual color changing LED.
You should review the double sided moving heads. They have an identical base and arms as the gobo light.

@LeamLizard Do you think the

Chauvet CH06 can support 4 of these or would i need to sandbag it ?
That stand is supposed to be able to hold up to 50 lbs and 4 of either of these lights are much lighter so should be totally fine (unless of course it’s windy or someone clumsy bumps into it haha)
@@LearnLizard thank you so much man , i decided on the ADJ LTS -02 with O clamps , hopefully it works out :D
Hi.. am new to lights things can we link led par with moving heads???
Yes- you can daisy chain them together and it will work perfectly. You just have to make sure each one is set to its own unique dmx starting address with no overlapping channels.
Thanks dude! Yer really good at explaining. I work in film and finally learning this stuff. And you E been so helpful

How many meters are go light
On the gobo light, how did you go to the mic sensetivity setting on it? And the temp?
Hi- You can access all these functions by repeatedly pressing the "menu" button on the front panel. Press it 7 times until the LED display says "SenS" This is where you can adjust the mic sensitivity with the up and down buttons. (press "Enter" to save) If you press it 6 more times you will see "temp" Then press the enter key and you will see the surface temp of the lamp. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!

The light in Tomtop were expensive over $100 dollars so can you compare U' King and lixada moving head lights
Yes, the Tomtop lights have gone up in price quite a bit, but you can find lower cost alternatives in the description to this video. They basically all program the same way, so this video should work as a tutorial for any similar version. Thanks for watching!
This was super helpful! Thanks heaps :)

I would like to see a real world application with you using these light fixtures. You got any videos of that? You have 6 of the beams now? How do you use them in a gig set up?
Thanks for that suggestion and stay tuned. That's exactly what I have planned for some upcoming videos!
I got to gobo lights and just leaning how to use them with the dmx-512 so far works well.

Thanks for the kind words- I think it will be hard to find gobo lights for that price, but maybe used or needing repair? Good luck with your shopping!
Hi there. How do you adjust pan / tilt opposite effects on the gobo one please? Thank you
Hi- Cycle through the menu functions until you get to "Pint". (this is for X-axis rotation) Press ENTER, then select "on" for forward or "yes" for reverse. The next menu item is called "tint" where you set Y-axis forward or reverse the same way. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
@@LearnLizard Thank you so much, you’re a star
It would be nice if you did the side by side comparison showing the size of the beams from different distances hitting the floor or walls. Thanks!
Thats a good suggestion- I can say that the Mini Beam's light beam is quite narrow - so it looks really similar in size even when you get back a long distance, but the gobo definitely changes a lot depending on how high it is mounted.
Thanks for watching!
do you need the board to actually use the moving head?
Each of these have both auto and sound active modes so you don't have to use a DMX controller although you have more control over all the features with DMX. Thanks for watching!
Once you use dmx lights with a controller or software you rarely will go back to the pre-programmed shows or sound active modes.
When will the video be about Goboes because I just got gobo lights I love your videos❤️
You’re so funny
Hi- Look for the new video about gobo lights sometime in January. Appreciate you watching!
I saw some reviews on the mini led that the colours don't mix but are mostly seperate beams, is this true? I can't quite see it on the video test.
Yes that is true. There are 4 separate colors and you can control their levels but they don't really mix to create new colors, only combine to make a brighter white when they are all on. Even with those limitations I am still really happy with mine (I have 6 now)
@@LearnLizard ah ok, thanks!
These types, are they safe to point at a croud?
These lights are on the smaller side, and although I wouldn't recommend looking directly into them I would think they are safe to point out to an audience (unlike lasers) Appreciate you watching...

(there are SO many) Here's one way to do it:
th-cam.com/video/TlQPGW-gHGE/w-d-xo.html
The moving head light looks different then from what’s on the packaging
The Mini Beam package shows pictures of 3 different lights and only one of them even looks similar LOL!

Mini gobo for the win. For proms & party events definitely gobo.
Thats a good assessment. I have 6 of the mini gobos now and they really look good synchronized with the hazer running. But the gobo looks great projected on a dance floor so makes sense for parties and events like you say.
how much watts are your gobo moving!? hello from brasil!!
@@LearnLizard thx Bro, and thx for all help with dmx
Great video as always!
I was wondering if you can swap in different pattern and color wheels on the Gobo?
Hey,
Does the mini gobo have the function to rotate the pattern?

Facebook.com/djjeffo2015

great Video, Thanks from Germany
Thanks for the kind words, and hello from California!
I have the mini beam but only the red light works. Can you reprogram the light to only use the red LED or should I replace the LED unit?
I'm guessing this is probably a software issue rather than a faulty LED. (Typically an entire LED would fail, rather than 3 out of the 4 colors) Is there only Red when it is operating in auto run? If so you can try going into the functions and doing a factory reset. Really hope you get it up an running correctly.
If you're using it with a DMX controller, you probably just need to switch the page to access the next channels. 9 is Green, 10 is blue, 11 is white.
Can you help, i have te problem that i want to mix colors then it shows each led on the wall and dont mix it, can you make a tutorial about it, please
Hi- The mini beam uses individual single color LED's so it's not really designed for accurate color mixing. If you combine the colors the beams will change (if you are using a hazer) but you will still see the individual LED's on the wall. Hope that helps and thanks for watching...
If you didn’t know, the gobo spot moving head thing has a 10w LED, not a 30w. 30w would probably need a fan.
Thanks for that heads up. Its advertised as having a 30w LED and it does have a large heat sink on the back as well as a fan, but now you have me wondering if the 30w claim is exaggerated. I'll need to do some more research to confirm. Appreciate you watching (and fact checking me!)

Hi I tried testing out the DMX control on the gobo moving head but it's not working, Do you know how the moving head works with DMX controller?
One important thing to check is that the DMX starting address on the controller is set to same starting address as the controller. Here are 2 videos that might help you get started with the basics:

@@adamssirenadventures6574 Hey, idk if you still need help, but. When you plug in the DMX cable you have to set the light to it. He showed it at some of his videos, then choose channel mode and set it to one. After that just activate the fixture by cliking on that one which you want to op. I'm bad at explaining but if you watch some DMX videos you will understand. :D
DJ Xela Well the channel on my moving head it shows Channel 9 and Channel 11 and that's it.
Thanks for that- all good points. And yes, relative to other movers the mini beam IS cheap!
How do I connect my mini gobo to my controller

Hi- I'm thinking to get a light that will illuminate a person you are going to need to spend quite a bit more than $100. Even these little lights are close to that price point now and they are more designed to give color and movement to a DJ or musical performance as opposed to spotlighting a person.
