I saw Henry for the first time, at a club called the Funny Bone in Knoxville in the 80's just as he was starting out. The emcee introduced him as a hometown guy. He walked on stage, said "How y'all doin'?" and most of us wound up laughing tears! We were all so shocked no one had the ability to stifle their full blown belly laugh!
I've met him and known him thru my association with Vince Gill's golf tourney. Henry is HILARIOUS and never offensive. The best part is that he is just as nice a guy as he is funny. Good guys win.
A great comedian is one who can make you laugh without all the cussing and vulgar sex talk which most do nowadays. Jonly bonly Stewart gets me every time
Dude, I just discovered this guy and had no idea he went this far back. This was around the time comedian Bill Hicks was still alive, and for some reason, Henry is giving me Bill Hicks vibe.
I used to record comedians on VHS tapes in the late 80’s and I had him recorded from either 1987 or 88 and we laughed so hard then my brother took my tape without asking and loaned it somebody and I never saw it again. It was a longer set and hilarious and we’ve been fans of him since.
Henry & Hicks are two of my all time favorites... both wickedly smart and observant with humor that sneaks up and gets ya where you've never been tickled before.
I’m a fan of Star Trek, starting from TOS days. So, having seen this set when it originally aired, I have always loved and remembered the “to Boldlygo” joke - I even remembered I’d heard it on The Tonight Show, but could never, ever remember who told it. Been watching Henry Cho shorts on YT for a while, and tonight, finally decided to do a deep dive on his material. Can hardly believe, after 32 years, I finally found this joke again! Thanks so much for posting this!!!! You just freed up some major space in my brain … and at a time in life when I can probably really use it!!
OMG! He is so funny! I was lucky enough to see him at a local college during what was called an All Nighter. He came out with longer hair, cowboy hat and boots along with a fringed vest or Jacket. Wow, that was decades ago!
I saw him at my college. He was great playing off the audience. My quick witted friend came in late and he reviewed all the punch lines. Everyone laughing. She busted him by saying, "thanks but I saw your show last year." Brought down house. He didn't recover that moment but it was a great show...even with a lot of the same material as "last year."
I thought I remembered this guy from the late 1970's on a comedy special on Gil Cable. Maybe I was wrong. But I never forgot Jonly Bonly Stewart. Laugh out loud funny then. Laugh out loud funny today. Here's to Henry Cho.
Probably wrong guy because he was born Dec 30, 1962. So even on Dec 30, 1979 he would have only been 17. Not saying that is impossible, just not likely. Also, Wikipedia says he didn't start doing comedy until 1986 (and we all know Wikipedia is NEVER wrong, LOL)
Show him this past weekend (6-12-21), very funny. Got tix on birthday (14th ) for local comedy club 'Stardom Comedy Club' Birmibgham, Alabama. He did this bit even after all these yrs.
@@tomball8092 man, hearing his voice, it don't sound like he's appropriating nothin. he must just be a true blue southerner, one of us. if he talk southern, he's kin.
It sure beats today's multicultural beatdown. The 1980s saw racism licked in the United States. The Obama era Democrat party brought it back as a political tool.
I was just going to take a drink after Cho joked about JB shooting Zete, when he finished the joke with Zete's last words were "What's that clicking noise?" I almost spat all over the screen.🤪
She's not his sister!!! Lol!! He was just on some podcasts not long ago talking about how she started and spread that rumor around when she got started in business to gain some notice for herself on his coattail.
He's still around. He's working on some new film and television projects, and is scheduled later this year (August and October) for some stand-up appearances in Tennessee and South Carolina. Bookmark his website to get up to date: www.henrychocomedy.com/upcoming-shows
I'm originally from Alabama. It's an honor to claim him whether or not he claims us. What a great comedian!
You from arab al?
@@Mr-pn2eh Pronounced "A-rab" (long 'A'). Naw, from Hueytown, actually, the home of race car drivers AKA NASCAR. I no longer live there.
he's from Tenesse
Henry is the only comedian to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry since Jerry Clower.
Well... He and Gary Mule Deer🙃
I am a big fan of his but I didn't know that! Thank you for sharing. Grew up on Jerry Clower too!!
You forgot John Bright Russell.
This performance was from decades ago but the material is still funny and has stood the test of time.
Yes it is. Caught it thus past weekend 6-12. Good clean comedy.
Ok.
I remember hearing him on the radio about 35 years ago .
Henry Cho is a good standup.
My wife and I say Jonly Bonly from Boldly Go very frequently 😀
Husband & I do too!!!

You can be funny without being vulgar! Very good.
But you do have to be really observant and work at it... too many go low 'cause they're lazy.
This was from a year before I was born, but why do I find a korean with southern Accent and clothes so attractive and funny?
Maybe your into K-pop?
Cause he's so unique and a really good person. He lives here in Nashville now !
Love this man! Always wonderful.

Lots of people in the south wear those things.
You worded that as if few people would know what "all nighter" means. You could have just said, "during an all nighter." We all know what it means.
I’m a 2000’s kid so I didn’t see this guy but bro was ahead of his time, he’s funny.
I'm a 1940's kid and I totally agree !
This guy is a Legend! So funny!! 😂🤣
Jonly Bonly, classic!
