Great yooper ramble! I really don't remember any place in the U.P. that I didn't like. I wish I would have bought some land there the first time I laid eyes on it.
The roads up there are immaculate compared to WV...and they get crazy snow and cold . We drove Deer park rd( don't look it up) which part is wash board but the beginning was very good but they was still repaving it.
Not ALL of the roads! lol Many of the highways and well traveled roads are pretty decent. While most city streets and surface roads are pretty rough! ;-)
I need to buy a truck and a trailer. Got property in the U.P. and live downstate MI. I look at property in the u.p. on landwatch. The central U.P. is warmer. Look for property in the deer wintering complexes. It where the deer go for the winter. I have been to Felch and drove the grade north.
We are keeping out eyes open for property as well. Getting harder to find than even when I first starting coming up here. I think over the last decade or two the Yoop has gotten far less remote. Locals even say it.. sometimes not with the happiest of tones. :-)
If you could live anywhere in the UP where would it be? Ontonagon, Neebish, Gladstone, where is your favorite place if you could choose? What about Paradise and white fish point?
That is a tougher question than you may think... Ummmm I think I'd have to say, well first I'd still get to travel and camp around the U.P. ummm I'd say Marquette area. Still tons of nature, with the advantage of a "city". lol Marquette is not very big but I sure like the vibe. That said, I like Lake Michigan but Lake Superior is SPECIAL.
Love it when you ramble.Makes me feel like I'm riding with you headed someplace else.
Glad you enjoyed the ride!

It really is a special place!
Started out looking like fall 🍁. Hopefully your family enjoys their new state. Sounds like you'll be busy helping for a bit.🙂👍
They got their move all done - they are pretty happy! :-)
"Part 1 ended weird"...lol. You made you go back to watch again.
