I was in that orientation class, me and another guy had to go pickup trucks from Eaton, North Carolina.... It's been rough starting out trying to get miles. I've got 8 years experience, over a million miles and I worked the Bedford Walmart account about 6 years ago with Schneider for a year. They had me help out there for the first weekend. It's not bad, I just am hoping for 450-500 miles a day....if I get that I'll be happy. The truck I got is good. The work's not hard, the T-call loads are kind of a bummer, but that's trucking, it comes with every company. Customers are good except for Walmart, I just don't like dealing with the stores. Your channel, videos and insight are about 75% the reason I came over to Smith. I'm trying to work through the miles issue and get a rhythm down, get used to the ways of Smith. Good content and I'm sure I'll run into you eventually. Take care
literally was in the middle of editing this video, and they called me down to bedford to pull a walmart load over to dubois. i mentioned multiple times about the CMV ban, but at the time it was a tier 2. i pick it up and get going, make it up to state college, and the company issues a shutdown. so now im in bellfonte waiting till tomorrow im assuming to drop this. the walmart can be a pain for sure. i’m not on that account so it can be a challenge not exactly knowing what im supposed to be doing, but experienced enough to get it done kinda thing. i prefer the random OTR freight , but if they’re slow and your in PA, we can expect to get called down to bedford. it just how it is. they’re our biggest customer iirc so we HAVE to cover those loads. i’ve never pulled a refer in my life and now i gotta listen to this thing all night turn on and off 💀😂
@freshwhiteteee 👎 I pulled reefer for 5 years before coming here...if it were me, I'd put on continuous mode and just let it run all night, that thing will run on 3/4 a tank for 2 days non stop. To me, a reefer running is like white noise.
I've been driving 30 years. Just went through orientation. Thursday I had to pick my truck up in Atlanta, which was no big deal because it was almost new. In all my years of driving, this is one of the best orientations that i've been through
that’s awesome! welcome to the company. i had to go down there as well but no big deal. we have great people working over here and that’s what im trying to tell everyone
SO CAL?? daaaaaayyyum! i mean its totally possible! we’re under the heartland express umbrella so if they need a load covered or for whatever reason we find a REALLY good paying broker load, we will absolutely take it!
thank you for the support! appreciate it. and yes you can select a 389 if available. we have both manual & auto in the 389. all depends on what is available when you come through. if not, you’ll get a newer 579 like mine 😎
i don’t run that division, but i have heard at times things like what you’re referencing. actually, as i was editing this video after shooting, i was called down to run a reefer load up to dubois. never pulled a reefer in my life, but its not complicated. i make it to state college and smith issues a shutdown in that area. so im in bellfonte now at the rutters. my delivery time was yesterday, been waiting around to hear if i can deliver today. no word back yet.
Orientation was great but they over saturated the account I was on to the point there wasn’t any miles I never turned any runs down and still only got 1600 miles a week
was that walmart? i don’t care for it truthfully. it’s just a different animal from what we normally do. that’s not to say it’s not a great fit for others. people crush it running walmart for sure. it seems to fluctuate with how busy it is as well.
@ no it was on northeast gold so many t calls and never really got to deliver same load I picked up. I figured if they would put a hiring freeze on certain accounts it would give the ones on those accounts better mileage. I ended up leaving two weeks ago Communication there is also not good between everyone
@@michaelguller2026 yeah i can imagine that being over saturated. it’s a shame. generally speaking i think this is a good outfit from my perspective. i know it doesn’t work out for everyone. i live in south carolina so im never really up in new england at all. i’m more east coast midwest. not many t calls either truthfully

@freshwhiteteee i work for Heartland. Could've been a different company. Said Smith on the tractor
ohhh okay okay gotcha. makes sense
They don't go out west!!! They stay east of the Mississippi
Great content brother! Glad to see it's still going good. Do they offer a choice of 579 or 389, or just whatever is available?

Do you know if they hire out of central Florida?
i don’t believe so unfortunately
@ ok,thanks for the reply
The Walmart account out of Bedford could be good if different people ran it.A lot of favoritism and, at times, a lot of waiting around. 😮
