    What a great video, really cool watching both of you pull in nice fish on various nymphs, tiny to large. Also very cool that you called out which nymphs were taken.

      Thank you brother! I really try to always tell my viewers what fly I caught a fish on, and somewhere in the video, show the fly. Yes, Ryan and I are always changing and trying different patterns throughout the day, but once we find an effective combination, we’ll stick with it until the fish switches it’s appetite. Glad you enjoyed it. Appreciate you watching and commenting.

    Another great video Scott. Thanks for bringing us along. So much for the theory that later in the day the water warms up and the fish become more active. Not that day any way.

      Hello James! Well, that time of year a bunch of different bugs, tail end of the Hendricksons, definitely sulfurs, and starting March Browns, plus tan and light olive and dark olive caddis, and there’s always BWOs around. Hendricksons will be in the 14s, sulfurs 14-16, March Browns/Gray Fox in 10-12, BWOs in 18-20, and caddis in 14-16. All those respective nymphs and pupas, and soft hackles. Sorry, just so much going on at that time. Also don’t forget big brown and golden stonefly nymphs in size 10. And never show up without some Globugs, San Juan or squirmy worms, green weenies and your favorite perdigons, especially a medium shiny blue color, and some Walt’s Worms. I think that’s enough, ha! Hi Scott,
    Wow fishing with a living legend [the man's a God!!!]
    Great to see you and Dave together on the stream [one of my bucket list items]
    I see you are using a tandem hook pattern for your wiggler
    Do you notice which hook took more fish?
    Was that moss on the tail or is that tied with a longer tail?
    Fun to hear Dave describe all the 'bugs' on the rocks especially identifying the "immature sulphur nymphs" [would an olive Perdigon be used to imitate those little guys?]
    And one last questio [sorry]; how would you describe Dave's pattern for his Hendrickson [dark brown] nymph?
    Thanks and all the best; be safe out there and God bless

My wiggle nymph does have an ostrich herl tail with around 5 fibers about the length of the abdomen. Does yours have a mono attachment that connects to your fly line or does the furled leader attach directly to the fly line? Good morning Adam! All my Cutthroat Furled Leaders have a loop to attach loop to loop to your fly line and the other end you usually can order a loop or tippet ring to attach to your mono. Appreciate you watching and commenting. Now for my drift, it all depends on depth and flow, if you’re fishing close enough you may be able to keep part of your leader off the water, but once you’re out a certain distance, some or all of your leader may be in/on the water, also I’m not a fan of high-sticking, so I don’t really focus on that.

      Hi Russ! Well, not really, I only play fish on the reel if they put themselves on the reel, like if they go for a run or I’m getting down almost no play line left. Most fish I still bring in by hand.

    Scott- great meeting you today. Thanks for all the on-the-water tips. Priceless. Gonna try your leader set up. Quick question- do you use the bow of the fly line as your indicator? Or is your furled leader out of the water as the indicator for nymphing. Again- thanks for tips …. And the flies.

    • @pawoodsnwater7551
      @pawoodsnwater7551  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Doc Joe! My indicator is the bow, more so towards where it enters the water, sometimes I can even see some of my line in under the water and focus on that, most times most of my furled leader is under water, especially if I’m long distance nymphing. Hope this helps. Good luck!

    I know this video isn’t about the Tulpehocken, but I was just wondering if you had any tips for that Creek since I know you fish there often. I’ve really been struggling at that creek recently. I use 4x leader to a waltz worm and then 12 inches of tippet down I add a San Juan worm. I also have a split shot splitting the two. My strike indicator is about 4 feet up from the San Juan worm. Is there not enough weight, line? Am I not presenting it right. Tips would be appreciated on how to really fish your recommended setup. Any tips are appreciated. Tight lines!

      @pawoodsnwater7551  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Liam! Well, since the stocking last week, the Tully been getting pounded, so try 5x or even 6x if you’re comfortable, try the micro egg or the micro San Juan worm , also black or red pupa in size 20 or an RS2 in size 20. The rule of thumb for setting your indicator is 1.5-2x the depth of water you’re fishing, use enough weight to occasionally tap bottom or get hung up. That I’m pretty sure should get you some action and don’t overlook the flats, plenty of fish in there. Good luck and tight lines!

      Hi Matt! Thank you very much. Sure, I’m using a standard weight forward floating fly line, then a 50” Shorty Cutthroat Furled Leader, then 3ft of 4x Flouro, then 2ft of 5x Flouro, then my tandem rig made of 5x. I’m using 5x because the water was pretty clear, usually I use 4x. My 3 fly in-line tandem rig has the flies around 14-15” apart from each other. I build it from heaviest fly up top to lightest on the bottom, and I place my splitshot above the top fly. Hope this helps. Appreciate you watching and commenting.

      Hi Mike! Thank you very much! The flow was very close to normal, around 330cfs, but a teeny bit higher and a little dirty I would have preferred, but still no complaint. Sorry no WB video, was too windy and rainy. Take care and tight lines! Appreciate you watching and commenting.

    Hey Scott! The old wiggle nymph strikes again. Since I don’t tie them do you think a micro jig streamer would have the same results? Some beautiful fish you and Dave caught,thanks for the video and good luck on the WB.

      Hi Dale! Funny you should ask, I did try the black micro jig streamer for about twenty minutes without any hits. The fish were better than average and fought well. Things looking up so far for Penns this year 👍🏻. Appreciate you watching and commenting.

    Hey Scott, another informative and fun video. Thanks for your content.
    I had a question, I think I'll hit the Tully this Friday morning, any suggestions on what might work this time of year?

    • @pawoodsnwater7551
      @pawoodsnwater7551  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks brother! Well, I haven’t been there for about a week, caddis should be showing up very soon and BWOs have been coming off in the afternoons and there’s always midges around, AND it just got stocked yesterday, but flows are low because they’re filling the lake. So Globugs, worm patterns, pink beaded Walt’s, olive emerger patterns, Caddis patterns, red or black zebra midges, RS2 , and small 18-20 soft hackles, those should get you started. Good luck and have fun! Appreciate you watching and commenting.
