Asus has just released dozens of new Z390 powered motherboards, and today I am reviewing what is arguably the most sold motherboard of them all, the Prime Z390-A .
Better design, real improvements compared to its predecessors, but is the Prime Z390-A any better than the Prime Z370-A ?

Will the Cooler Master MasterFan SF120R ARGB and the Deepcool GAMMAXX GTE RGB work good with this motherboard? and Will the i5 9600k work well? (I have seen people having problems with the bios when Using the i5 9600k combination)

I have a question: I want to buy this Mainboard too and i have two HyperX RAMs with 3200 MHz. Are my RAMs compatible with this Mainboard? Because without OC, this Mainboard only supports 2133 MHz, so if i use my RAMs, the Mainboard can only get 2133 MHz out of the full 3200 MHz right? So the Mainboard will run at 2133 MHz only and cant get the rest out of it. So what do i have to do? Something in the BIOS maybe? I ve heard of the Intel XMP, when i enable it, does the Mainboard use the full 3200 MHz of my RAM then? I just want to make sure...
Did those performance differences dissapear? Can this chip fully handle the i9 9900k or should I get something more expensive?

how come my z390-a didn't come with wifi? also i'm only using 1 video card if i use the middle pci slot i'm only getting 8x transfer? also is this motherboard good for overclocking the 9900k cpu?Thank you so much for the video!

That tall I/O housing shroud. will it get in the way of large CPU coolers like the Dark Rock Pro 4 or Cryorig R1 Universal?
No, it wont, im more affraif for smaller builds and bumping into an exhaust fan.
so can you put intel coffee lake and non coffee lake processors on the motherboards for further upgrades. If I switched form the coffee lake to just a normal processor

When Laurent says it doesn't have addressable RGB, does that mean things like GPUs or CPU coolers with their own RGB won't be able to be changed at all? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

there’s a question nobody seems to answer for me. Cables. Do your usb cables and sata cables, basically all the extra cables being plugged into your psu, come with the box of the component or the psu itself??

i just upgraded to this motherboard but its not letting me use my MSI Radeon RX 580 8 GB ARMOR OC Graphics Card. It works with r9 270x and 2080 8gb. dont know whats going on anyone know whats happening?

Answer is no. Ull need a z370 or a x470 motherboard to support an AMD CPU.
Z370s and z390s are Intel powered boards for Intel CPU :)

Je vien de m'installer la 390-a et desfois le systeme gèle quelques secondes et j'ai un popup qui dit qu'un périphérique audio a été branché... (mes speakers sont déja branché et ont pas été débranché) a tu deja vu ca?
Débranche ton Front panel audio , celui qui est connecté à ton châssis. Vois si le problème recommence.
I have this board and attached a 970 EVO NVMe M.2 (250 GB) SSD to it. Before I had it under the heat shield location but now moved it up because it wasn't booting my computer anymore .The BIOS reads it but I can't boot from it. any help would be great. noob in distress
Disconnect any SATA storage, clear CMOS (remove board battery for 30 secs after unplugging PSU).
Then Reboot

Thanks for the review I still have a z87-g45 MB with i54690k. Time to upgrade been trying to decide on a MB that doesnt have the top heat spread like the ROG boards as I would like to go with the Phantax 350x case but there isn't much headroom at the top for the fans. This looks like a good fit for the case along an i59600k or an I79700k. Cant decide yet.

been searching for the 5 pin EXT Fan, cord connector for the Extension Card header 10:05 but all they show is the 4 or 3 pin if anyone one can please help to offer advice or use an alternatives solution to that EXT Fan header, Thank you.
The only mystery having with the prime z-390a is my boot times keep changing with no adjusts from 4.2 second to 19 seconds and 9 seconds. How is this possible from cold starts? processor I9

Yes. It will work.
You have 2 RGB strip connectors (right before the conclusion in the vicdeo.)
Normal RGB strips..not addressable.

Hi Laurent. Just a quick one as I am looking at a brand new build I was looking at the Z370A Prime with i5 8600k processor having seen your motherboard review. However, would you agree that with the build being new that it makes more sense to go with a 9th generation system?
I was therefore looking at the i5 9600k with a Z390 board such as this one. Would recommend this board? How does the msi Z390A Pro compare?

If i may... id stay with a Z370, and get a 9th gen.
MSI is great but they have a higher rate of failure these days.

First, both z370 and z390 support 9th gen CPUs. So id go for a z370 to save money.
In first choice id go for an Asus board. Gygabite as a close second choice.
Prime for everyday gaming,Maximus for real over clocking

Hey! Great vid! Need your advice! I’m buying a new mb and can’t decide between this one and the rog strix z390-E... i play cs go and some assassins creed and doom... (can’t wait for doom eternal). So i have a 9600k so to overclock it maybe by 25%, wich board you recomend! The 50€ more on the strix do really matter???
Not with this board series, They both have the same VRM configurations (4 true phases, 8 MOSFET). Save your money and spend it on the games ;)

It allows u to contral every indivual led color and effect on the same rgb strip.

just getting an 8086k for a deal off a friend and decided to spend the few extra bucks for the z390 a over the z370 the z370 does have a 6+4 choke layout where this one has a 6+3 but how much of a difference if the extra chokes are on the Igpu which I wont use is the question

Its fine. You won't do any fancy overlooking but it'll definitely rendre the full cpu stock potential

U potentially could use 2 screens on integrated graphics.. but I highly advice against it.
Get a cheap 1060 and u ll be set for 4 screens easy
