Gales is one of the few players that can make me feel a range of emotions when he plays. Every time ive seen him live, it was like a religious experience.
It’s refreshing hearing two greats grabbing axes off the wall, playing clean, plugging straight into the amp, and just improvising off each other....it’s really becoming a lost art.
He'll yeah! Awesome say! Grateful is where it's at. This is why we love Greg and holy shit Eric. These two absolutely love life. There Gratefulness comes through in energy.
If you folks notice,on the right side that kid ‘Taz’ Brendon Neiderer is hangin watching and takin it all in. I heard him later and he is really quite a mature player. Check him out :) Thanks for listening. If you could please subscribe it would very appreciated :) Thanks
Strats are my fav, but the Tele just sounds gorgeous here the entire time, so sweet and melodious. Great player playing it like.a master doesn’t hurt either hahaha
Hey John, when you introduce yourself to people it’d be sick if you were like, “Pleasure to meet you. The name’s John Hendricks, but my friends call me Jimi.”
I was just thinking the same thing, like is he ever going to back off and play rhythm so he can let Greg step in and play leads. I thought they were going to genuinely play off each other but it was just straight up Greg playing rhythm and Eric playing licks based off Greg's rhythm phrases. Especially when he boosted his amp, I knew dude was def not going to back off lol. Even the greatest like Stevie Ray Vaughan knew when to back off and play rhythm and let the other guitarist do his thing. In my opinion that's what made players like Stevie Ray so great because he was so well rounded. Maybe that's a shortcoming of Eric.. people think hes like a prodigy but he don't know anything else but to play leads and be the center of attention while not knowing when to back off. Still blows my mind how guitarists like him and Albert King play a right handed guitar upside down but keeping it strung for a right handed player with the high e string ontop. Unlike Jimi Hendrix who played a right hand guitar upside down but restrung the guitar so it was properly strung for a left handed player with the low E on top.
Eric Gales is a genius, plain and simple, and Koch happens to be one of the best players there is, as well. Hard to find something you don’t like here.
I like them both and the exchanges in solo is amazing as always but one thing I didn't like here is Eric's impulse to do some runs during Greg's turn to solo and his guitar's piercing volume when his playing the rhythm, almost masking the solo of Greg. I tried the wildwood's video of this and though the volume was enhanced, Eric's guitar is still saturating Greg's guitar sound. But other than that, both are amazing and I still enjoyed the exchanges.
This is not shredding. It's much better: they're improvising, they're listening and reacting to what they're hearing. Often these jams are horrible, but here are two MUSICIANS.
Is it just me or is Greg Koch one of the only guitarists that impresses Eric Gales while jamming together so much. Not that there isn’t others but damn, Eric always looks so impressed when he jams with Greg.
Love Erics picking style. He holds the pick just like Hendrix did and it has that snap to it and it sounds amazing?I use to pick like that as well but i thought i was doing it”wrong”so i stopped doing it.And now years later i wish that i didnt change it because ive been trying to get i back but i cant do it anymore.
Anybody notice that Mr. Gales is playing his guitar upside down? Fat strings on the bottom and skinny strings on top. Wow... It makes my head hurt to watch his fretting hand work.
Hey everybody, thanks for ALL your comments! I know I’m late reading these comments but, would you all please subscribe to this channel. Thanks a lot Bert
Listening through my trebly, piercing lg g2 speaker, still sounds inspiring. Good musicians but nevermind the obvious. The way the brother plays is why i keep on picking up my guitar..
Still blows my mind how guitarists like Eric, Doyle Bramhall II, Albert King, and the Chicago blues guitarist Lefty Dizz played a right handed guitar upside down but kept it strung for a right handed player which made the strings upside down from a leftys perspective, with the high e string ontop. Unlike Jimi Hendrix who played a right hand guitar upside down but restrung the guitar so it was properly strung for a left handed player with the low E on top. Totally different approach of playing.. like having to pull the high strings down instead of pushing up to bend the strings to a higher note. I always wondered but never saw Albert and Lefty Dizz do it.. but Eric or Doyle or any lefties out there who play guitar like this and are reading this, can they play actual guitar chords with the strings upside down? Would he be able to play a G chord in the traditional shape? I'm sure they'd be able to play chords in a hendrix triad style, thumb over, bar chord tho.
As much as i love Jimi, Eric Gales gives anyone a run for their money... Though i do like better greg koch, i can't deny the incredible set of ears Eric has, he just see notes from nowhere, almost like he's squeezing a new vocabulary out of the strat, from a monster like greg id expect it easily from him to do such, but on Eric s case it's like no one saw him coming when he do solo. Jimi past his 30s bet he would ve been total fun to listen to.
Gales is one of the few players that can make me feel a range of emotions when he plays. Every time ive seen him live, it was like a religious experience.
I come back to this video a lot
I’m glad you dig it!!
Please subscribe,I need the help,lol✌🏻
Oooooh...it's hard to achieve a higher level...best musical craftmanship...holy mowly😇 best stuff😇 🙏👍👍👍
They're having a conversation. They're talking to each other through their instruments. It's absolutely beautiful to hear
That moment when Greg realizes that looking at Eric's fretboard for a cue won't get him anywhere. :)
I'm OK with it. Been playing up-side down for 40 years. You just don't see many people who do that.
my 2 favorite guitarists...ahhhh its so nice
Nyne would you mind subscribing? Thanks buddy
Man the facial expressions of Eric Gales Are priceless 😄
i think he will probably have a stroke someday
It’s refreshing hearing two greats grabbing axes off the wall, playing clean, plugging straight into the amp, and just improvising off each other....it’s really becoming a lost art.

Very inspiring comment. Thank man.

oh my god, this is too much! what a joy ! unbelievable amount of talent! thanks for the upload
They're playing over the harmony from Se eu quiser falar com Deus (Gilberto Gil).
Playing in the key of Awesome
Eric Gales is on another level
An absolute genius
The build and release Eric does from 1:21-1:32 is just unreal
2:50 Eric pulled out the purple rain on em. Greg Koch is crafty with his playing no doubt. 🙂
If you folks notice,on the right side that kid ‘Taz’ Brendon Neiderer is hangin watching and takin it all in.
I heard him later and he is really quite a mature player. Check him out :)
Thanks for listening. If you could please subscribe it would very appreciated :)
Thanks
Wow! Awesome playing! Absolutely love this! Fantastic musicianship, pure gold!
Nicky B Yupppp
love this. Two styles of playing but a show of mutual respect and pleasure from this synegistic moment between two great musicians
Strats are my fav, but the Tele just sounds gorgeous here the entire time, so sweet and melodious. Great player playing it like.a master doesn’t hurt either hahaha
Talk about musicality these two speak through music.
Greg Koch throwing in country licks in there, these guys are bringing the listener for a ride.
John Hendricks yes John they are.
Hey John, when you introduce yourself to people it’d be sick if you were like, “Pleasure to meet you. The name’s John Hendricks, but my friends call me Jimi.”
I was at the 2018 NAMM and I missed this jam! These 2 guys are just awesome players as well as down to earth human beings...
4 eh Absolutely!
Absolutely amazing! These are 2 of the very best players in the world.
Awesome. Only criticism of Eric is he sometimes doesn't know when to get out of the way, but can't fault his passion.
He is the way, the light and truth! 😂🎸🔥

....and that he has a shirt and hat with his own name on it. Muppet.
Anyone else hear the intro to Cliffs of Dover at 2:18 from Eric? ;)
Easton Dread Pirate Roberts he played some purple rain too
Yep!
Love watching pros bounce off each other.. incredible man
Why doesn’t this have one billion views!? Sooo good!! 🤟🙌👏
Please subscribe my friend 👊🏻

Agree, makes me want to collect my guitars and not play them

Just curious ✌🏼
Well said
I love both of these guys so much. In this particular instance Eric is so fun to watch.
Two amazing players, and total characters... this video, life is good. Thanks for sharing! =)
Finally, someone that gives Greg koch a battle! They are on another shimmery spacious galaxy of guitar playing
+10 would watch again.
eg is just crazy stupid amazing---love him and one of my all time faves! greg is great too!
Should do a duet album. I'd buy 2!
Redjet Definitely!
What a lovely conversation
WOOOHOOOO!!! The notes were flying everywhere, i felt that and i wasn't even there!! Thanks for the "good feeling" upload Mr Elliot.
TONESEEKER7 Your welcome brother. Would u mind to please subscribe? Thanks a lot
these two need to formally record together. In this jam and last year's, they conjure an ethereal sound between them.
What? So somebody's, namely me, head blows straight off? lol
well, lucky you!

I recorded this so I no longer have a face!!
Art, in a world that needs more art.
I hear some Hendrix and Purple Rain ideas in between...amazing
Eric Johnson's Cliffs of Dover at 2:19 ... nice, the smile on their faces

Thomas Atzinger I so agree Tom!
yeah i dunno, the first half was all over the fuckin' place, so i didn't even bother with the second half
Thomas Atzinger I’m confused! What is it?
Dynamic Hypnotic
They're doing improv and letting loose, not recording a studio album.
@@blackie75 That was Little Wing bro
OMFG...two beasts! Thanks so much for sharing this :)
Shahin Nomani It’s my pleasure my friend. If u want more please subscribe :)
Done :) Keep'em coming.
the volumes are a little out of balance but they are great players.
God bless the blues! It was amazing!
Sweet guitars and playing.
This is gold!

Greg knows a lot of things more than a lot of guitar players do

Eric's playing comes from his soul ❤️
Jeez this guy's feelin em all ! Every single freakin note
Magic
John47 Kimber absolutely
This is so cool! I love both of their styles - crazy talented and they really gel!
God bless you brothers. Jammin, great.
Remind's me of Chet , and Jerry Reed , one is firery and the other humble gracefully
Wow! The battle was on! Amazing! 👏at one stage I didn’t know who was playing what. 🤘🤘✌️✌️
Eric Gales is the real deal. Greg starts killing at the 6-minute mark. So great!
Sounds like they're improving over reharmonization of "Little Wing". Good stuff.
2 of my favorite
I’m glad u folks enjoy the video!
If u get a moment please subscribe :)
11 minute musical sound collage!
This is an intelectual musical improv over the sounds "not neccesary chords" of Jimi Hendrick's Little Wing. Wow!
Anybody notice that Mr. Gales is playing his guitar upside down? Fat strings on the bottom and skinny strings on top. Wow... It makes my head hurt to watch his fretting hand work.
Incredible!
Its a Musical Conversation ... I can sense Koch Country style
I watched this video then promptly listed all my guitars for sale.
I love seeing people at the height of their craft. It's a real pleasure to watch
Can't even stop smiling while watching the video. 😊
Daaaaammmnn holy gobs of goodness. Awesome boys !!!

Incredible! Gales is genius!
Literally every music performance i see makes me think of shawn. Man we missed out:(

The man is sick talented eric is
Perfect interaction!
Peter Brusch agreed!
Great moment!
Wasn’t this Little Wing in some past life? Great stuff!
My jaw started to wiggle on its own watching the interplay.
Can anyone figure out what chord progression Koch was playing?
great stuff
Jeeezzz...that Eric Gales is so emotional! Love the guy!!
And so rythmical too!!!
@0:56 … what the hell was that Eric 😅😅👍👍… god damn! @02:46 purple rain… genius and amazing ..
I love how he hit him with that country and Eric hit it right back...THAT WAS IMPRESIVE!
I like the video, but you did not include the tab with it...
Lol
Holy Shit!!!!! Dem's Great Blues!!!!!
Two of the best players on the planet
Jimi up there tappin' his foot.
At first, I was like Greg seems more like Eric's rhythm guitarist in the video. Was I mistaken. Awesome stuff!
Giants among us mere mortals.
Personally, because of the humbleness of both,I think Greg was giving Eric room to blow and laid back. But he kicks in high gear about ½ way throug.
Gales's Salt Peanuts reference at 5:26 did it for me.
Imagine a circus…and you see a sign that says: Freak Show…you walk in and find this! Two of the most under rated cats around…
when you suddenly realize you have been you have been watching and just smiling for ten minutes lol
Exact frozen time there dude.
What’s the guitar brand Greg is playing on? Love the headstock
They are at the John Page booth at NAMM,so John Page Guitars👍🏻

A bit far out for me but AMAZING !!!!
These two can wear out a guitar in one sitting 🤣
Greg has a “Koch” on his shirt, Eric is somewhat less subtle.
A contrast which seems equally evident in their playing. Masters nonetheless.
@SRV1
He is an absolute genius. Beyond comprehension.
Did Jimi Hendrix have a child we don’t know about ?
wow, so good performance:)
Wow! Awesome stuff.
Holy shit!!! That was amazing!
Imagine Hendrix alive playing with Eric Gales. as duo.
As much as i love Jimi, Eric Gales gives anyone a run for their money... Alpha Kitty me too bro!
Is the guitar Gales is playing strung right side up?
