Good job... and not a swear word through out the whole video... kind of rare from home videos nowadays.... refreshing.... thumbs up on the soldering instead of wire nuts... I believe that a lot of capacitor failure is because of poor connections ...solder it and problem solving...
An extremely well done instructional video. Just took a look inside my fan which is barely tuning. Capacitor boxes look ok, but yours did too and apparently one or both were bad. in the past I've spliced wires by twisting them securely and wrapping with good grade electrical tape. Is this an option?

It can be. I just prefer to solder them.
