The hose wasn't in the water it was sucking air. The man is milking the job.
if you fully submerge the hose, it will pull too much water at once and essentially clog the hose. It's not the same as a pump out out hose that you put in a pool because his runs to a tank. He's not milking anything. That's also considered black water and has to be dumped into a sanitary sewer cap

This system seems like it needs improving. Even a Shop Vac can be totally submerged. Also sump pumps that can handle solid waste are totally submerged. But I'm no hydro-pro or even a water witch.

They say new construction has nothing to do with it, But we never had this problem before. Seems odd we have all this new flooding at the same time we have new construction. 🤔
It is because of two hurricanes causing a 500 year rain event. People choose to live in flood zones. Just look up the FEMA 500 year floodplain. It is available online. You will see many people live inside the 100 and 500 year floodplains. Please remember association is not causation.

just curious why people expect the govt to bail em out every time a hurricane flattens their home so they can just rebuild and do it again.
Same reason the gov expects to to continue paying taxes on a house you can`t live in! Ditches and drainage pipes are hardly ever cleaned. Yet you pay gov taxes to keep them cleaned and working. Gov has no problem issuing building permits to build in these areas though.
The drainage pipe outlets are likely now submerged under a body of water (like what happened in Miami) and they are now ‘siphoning pipes’ and will need one way valves and pumps to keep water from flowing ‘backwards’. In time, as seawater rises - Most of lowland areas of Florida will have this problem!
