    While learning any language can be such a huge challenge, I strongly recommend learning English because it opens up your mind to the world. This is because English is the most spoken language across the 6 continents, so you can learn about every country through it. For example, when you travel overseas you will always find people giving directions in English and most of the signs are translated to it as well. Therefore, we can establish a strong relation between communication in English and learning about the world.

    To be honest with you, before starting to study English, I didn't even like it at all. But there were some situations that kind of forced me to learn it. Now I love it. So, I don't say I'm studying, but living it. I get involved with English from the moment I wake up until I go to bed. To wrap this up, I take the view that learning English is important to me because it keeps my mind fresh and even prevents it from some possible diseases. Learning English can open doors to new career opportunities. I can learn about other cultures and so many new things. Not to mention that lots of contents are written just in English. There are also a bunch of other advantages of learning English, and over time, I'll get to know them. Thank you, guys, for helping us all. I wish you all the best.

    The reason why I think English is important to me is because, with this language, I will be able to meet new people, get more knowledge and the main reason is: I must have to speak English as a video editor to learn and get valuable clients! Through English, a lot of opportunities comes to you. Do you want to learn something new? If you know English, you learn with quality and faster than any person who doesn't speak English. Do you want to travel? Well, you need English. Do you want to learn new cultures? It's going to be easier if you know English, because most of the people from that place won't speak in your language, but in English...
    I'd spend an entire day just writing about this subject, but I guess that that's all.

    English is important to me because it's the only way to get off from my native languague burble (Brazilian-PT) and be able to connect to the rest of the world. It basically means I can go deeper in everything I do in life like entertainment (games, music, etc), work, friendship and be able to know different things since once you know English you can access way more source of information. In addition to that I have the satisfation of speaking another language and I simply like the way English sounds. That's it, ohhh yeaaaaahhh.

    Hey, Thiago and Ethan! It's a great TH-cam channel I found few days ago and I am so happy that it motivates me to learn and improve English. This channel is even helping me to get outta my inferiority complex regarding English and to embrace the mistakes, it further helps to improve. My reason for learning English is, I want to read books but I just fail to understand everything. Reading something in English is a huge challenge in my perspective that reading a book or an article or a story may be, it will further come up with the great new words which are not known to me. Hence, it'd make me confused that first should I note down the new words and find their meanings or just read without considering them. That's the problem I face; also learning English opens the door to a good career opportunity therefore I wanna learn English. Thank you:)

    Every writer from different generations would agree with that stament: writing is the deepest form of thought. Writing is not just a mere task but an elaborate one. In order to express concisely and coherently the message, it needs a great variety of subskills, such as: punctuation,eloquence,and spelling , and main skills, such as: grammar, vocabulary and style.

    Why is learning English so important to me is because of the fact that English is a global language. I see people talking to each other. And it seems like becoming day by day a brand, and more people are attracting towards it. Like it has got a lot of customers, and I can also that the customers that are buying the products are also label in English with an English transcript. Most of my books, we read in schools and colleges are also in English so, it's kinda becoming important for me to learn English and understand what my teachers are teaching me, and also go deep in reading books. Talk to people from different countries, and explore and enjoy the vast, and rich cultures with them.

      @sidonwire4091 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Wow, I like how you compared English to a brand. To me, it actually does feel like that sometimes. I don’t know if that’s true but my mother once told me during the coronavirus crisis that if 80% of people are vaccinated, then the other 20% automatically become immune. I don’t think that’s true but I like the idea. I imagine it would be the same thing with languages. If the majority of the world speak English then the other small minority of people are bound to do the same. Or else they become isolated and miss out on a lot.

    First of all, one of my main reasons, why learning English is important to me, is the fact that I plan to go abroad in the nearest future and start to travel across different countries and I want to speak pretty freely, without much effort in that language - at least in moderate level like day to day conversations. Secondly: I don't want to rely on my native language subtitles anymore, so when I want to watch a new movie that was just aired online, I could watch it at least with English subtitles and understand 80-90% or so, of the content. Thirdly: English may be useful in my career, so I can get more job offers in the future, with better income as well as just earn more money thanks to the fact of knowing English at a decent level.

    People in the past used to exchange ideas by writing to each other with carefully crafted letter. It is almost to a point that writing was a respectable art form to develop connection and friendship. Today, the word pen pal is seldom mentioned and the only time we write is for school assignments or for business reason. Writing is thinking and thinking is a critical skill to speak well.

    First things first, learning English is crucial to me in the sense of passing the IELTS exam, so I will be continuing with that agenda along the way. Speaking of passing the vital exam, I have to pass it in the matter of the time in order to apply to the university abroad. I plan to study journalism there in an English language program, for that reason, this freaks me out even more. Nevertheless, I motivated to make it real by increasing my knowledge with modifying the English environment on an everyday basis. I have never dreamt about studying overseas, but when I have this opportunity, I cannot miss it by throwing the towel in it. I am aware of the information that it might be arduous for me to study there, especially not in my native language, which is Ukrainian. However, I require striving to accomplish that in my future by showing myself that everything is possible by believing in yourself, hard-working, embracing your fear, and finally taking actions in a heartbeat.

    Well, learning English is absolutely very important for people of all ages. For me, it's a priority because I can use and benefit from it throughout my current school studies and also during my college education. Additionally, I can benefit from English if I have the opportunity to study in an English-speaking country, which I hope for and I would like to thank CHatGPT for helping me piece this paragraph together :").

I really enjoy this conversation and learned a lot with both of you. off this topic and following the Thiago's tip, I asked my son why he likes Minecraft and for my surprise he gave me a rich answer. saying that he likes because the game tells about the starting of times, since Adan and Eva, "the first humans" haha. and asked about the graphics his answer was No because everything is squared. 😂

I'd like to say that nowadays English is a powerful tool all over the world, i wanna speak it mainly cos It`s a requirement at my university so I'm kinda forced to learn it at least up to some point, apart from all of this, I have some friends abroad which I'd like to meet in person some day sadly the one way to converse with them is in English so due to this I feel forced too lmao, finally other goal could be work abroad in a speaking English country. To sum up, English is a key to have a better life. THX

    I’d rather to have a high score for getting a efficient scholarship and show the university that I’m smart and useful.
    Bedsides I don’t wanna get underestimate by native people , I want to keep up with them.

    You've only shown a clip of the TEDx* talk, but I have to disagree with what was shown:
    I don't know what "SAT words" are, as I never took such a test, but I say: when we write, we should make full use of our vocabulary.
    Sure, a personal email shouldn't read like the technical portion of a scientific paper, but we also shouldn't "dumb it down" if we have the vocabulary and can easily and correctly use it.
    "Dumb it down" is what newspaper publishers told their writers a few decades back; To write at an 8th grade reading level in order to increase sales, because people of lower education weren't buying newspapers that they had trouble reading.
    A consequence of that was that ideas also had to be simplified to 8th grade reading level, which means 8th grade level thinking, and now for-profit media as a whole aims for that low common denominator, which keeps humanity as a whole from progressing in our thinking towards more acceptance of differences between peoples, towards better planning of our future as both nations and species, and most importantly which affects all of the former, devaluing education in society. And what is learning English about, if not educating ourselves so we can access more information and learn even more.
    Learning English was important to me, because I wanted to play computer games, I wanted to watch TV channels that didn't have subtitles I can read, and I wanted to read books that weren't translated yet.
    Learning English expanded my world to include audiobooks and podcasts, from which I learned that I love skepticism, which includes science, that I love history and philosophy.
    Learning English not only expanded the scope of my previous interests, it allowed me to discover new interests I wouldn't have without, and those in turn, forced me to improve my English further, to a point when once, a native speaker thought I was one as well.
    Also, English is the language of technology, and just because I learned English, my work is now with technology and not manual labor.
    * You should mention it's TEDx, not TED, which is not a TED conference but a similar event of a more local scope.

    Writing isnt my cuo of tea but I know how important it is. The problem with me is English isnt my first language. I'd love to write in English. However, everytime I have a hard time organizing my thoughts not to mention the grammar etc. I quit right away 😢 Plus, no one's going to correct or check if am doing it correctly, so that's why I give up writing.

    • @agatastaniak7459
      @agatastaniak7459 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, writing is hard. It is thinking about the way you think in a language. This is what makes it hard. But the more often you do it, the easier it gets. And the more often you consult what write with someone like an English tutor or an English teacher, the eaiser it is to correct mistakes that you make most frequently without even thinking about them. I always encourage my students to read and to write in English, at least from time to time, since it helps them with making faster progress. People who are stubborn about not learning any grammar and about learning only by speaking make the slowest progress I can observe. Of course it's possible to learn without writing or reading too much but it makes both learning vocabulary and grammar much more difficult and slower.

  • @jojomorgan
    @jojomorgan 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    No, not that we don't want to pay attention. It's because it's really difficult to write with certain vocabulary about those given certain topics.
    Listening and speaking, on the other hand, they're used for daily life communication. So, we don't need to squeeze our brain to explain/listen properly about what we're talking.

    • @agatastaniak7459
      @agatastaniak7459 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Writing is also used for daily communication. Daily practice of writing actually helps to transfer new knowledge to long-term memory. This is how human brain evolved when humans over centuries were learning various things mostly using hands. Usage of hand movements, not eye movements or audio input is our highway to move new information from short term-memory to long term-memory. This is why learning just by looking at screens is not as effective in retaining information for exams as hand writing is. There are neuroscience studies on this topic.
