Man, Dorian was not kidding about the South being a backwater compared to Tevinter. Can you imagine going from cobblestone and neon magic signs and floating spires to rugged mountains and farmlands and swamps? Poor Dorian lol.
lmao seriously though he must have just hated it in the south. I was so funny when he was going in on the Arls style in the mage mission lol. Tevinter is pretty awesome looking!! can you just imagine being able to walk around there I'm so stoked for it.
@@Bowskii Looking back, it's hilarious to see how diplomatic he was trying to be with "so charming and rustic." He seems now to have genuinely been doing his best to avoid being rude.
I love your reaction. You see it with a more neutral eye instead of hating on it like the other goobers just because its not Origins. You're not mindlessly fanboying either so thats good. Im so tired of people hating the trailer for the wrong or for miniscule reasons.
Thank you I appreciate that. I try to look at this stuff with an open mind about how it may or may not go. There are definitely some things I would love to be back in the game and then again there are some things that look awesome with how they are changing the game. I'm excited to see where it goes I hope we get a bit more detailed look at the combat soon as I would love to see the warrior and mage. But all in all I think they have a lot of potential with the game and the story I'm looking forward to see what happens next.
i agree, every game has pros and cons origins had some great things bout it but i can say so did da2 and da:i i can say bad things and good things about all three but i did immensely enjoy all three and i think people are like 'but origins!' didn't or barley played any of the other games or have some serious nostalgia glasses which people who recently went through the games would not
I couldn't agree with you more! I've seen so many negative "hit piece" articles about this game already, based only on this 15 minute gameplay. Of a game that will be 100+ hours, most likely. The hate articles are ridiculously laughable too, I highly recommend people read them for a laugh. It's too early to tell how good the game will be, but there seems to be a purposeful, targeted attack on this game before people have had a chance to play a single minute of it themselves.
Considering its Tevinter, we will 100% get more lore drops on the old gods. Plus, we still have two remaining archdemons remaining after the fifth blight. Razikale and Lusacan. I bet we might have some sort of quest related to that while visitng Warden stronghold of Weisshaupt in the Anderfels.
I hope we get more info on the old gods. Wont lie I wouldn't mind seeing another blight at some point but I wonder if they will truly ever do another one. The lore drop we are going to get is going to be awesome. It feels good knowing its finally time for us to see more on Tevinter all we had was the codexs. And not sure about the books and comics as I'm only at Cole's book Asunder in the timeline.
Another thing I'm hoping we'll see - and it would be weird if we didn't - is the Imperial Chantry's take on Andraste. We've heard plenty about it from the Orthodox Chantry elsewhere, but I'm stoked to see what Imperial Andrastianism looks like on the ground. For that matter, knowing that we're going to Rivain, I REALLY hope we get to see what a society looks like that has a Qunari outpost, a Chantry presence, *and* indigenous religious traditions all more or less coexisting. I sincerely hope that the writers have put some real effort into what that kind of religious pluralism will look like.
If I remember correctly, the floating circular structure is the mage circle of Minrathous. It wasn’t built that way; it was built like a normal tower-it just exploded at some point in the past. No spoiler warning because I don’t remember specifics 🤪
that's the first thing that came to my mind either that or where the Archon is but isn't that were the Archon live anyways? But still that stuff was awesome looking holy moly.
@@Bowskii I BELIEVE the magisters meet there, but my knowledge of Tevinter is sadly lacking. The game will be a big chance to learn about it for me :)) The combat looks a lot like dragon age 2, but more fluid and fast. Very curious about how it will feel to actually be in the middle of it all. The developers have revealed the 6 backgrounds, and I see a few I’m interested in. Grey Wardens, the Antivan Crows, and especially the Lords of Fortune have caught my eye.
I loved the feel of a DA2 combat once again. I missed that game and always love playing it because the combat was so fun. My knowledge on Tevinter is lacking as well way more then it should.
I hope so as well. I'd love another big game that takes us completionist players about 200 hours to beat 😂. More mature content in romance scenes would definitely be welcome as well.
3 abilities per character, so you +2 companions is 9 on the wheel. There's also resource based special abilities like the bow & arrow ability and they also mentioned ultimate abilities.
its like they are wanting to get rid of the bloat a big I loved the massive amount of abilities but I also loved how in Mass Effect We were able to fire off our companions abilities from our screen its def got that feeling here which isn't a bad thing. But hey using 9 abilities should def be more then enough and however else more we may get via ultimate and such and the combos it seems like we can do here.
@@Bowskii They explained that the different elements (fire, ice, electricity, spirit) will play a big role in combat and the tactical part about the combat is thinking about which skills and companions in combination work best together before going on a mission. There's a combo slot for specific combinations that your PC is able to do. I suppose a lot of the new skill tree and active/passive skills play a big role when it comes to those specific combinations.
I'm with you all the way. Dragon Age has always been a franchise that changes with each chapter. The demons look different because they are influenced by their environment. The more chaotic the environment, the more chaotic their appearance. Great video. 😉👍
thank you I'm glad you enjoyed it and share the same thoughts on it. We have a different change of the demons but over time the demons would def change with what is going on. I like change though I enjoy when games will change over time and give us different things to see and do. Have the same style over and over with just updated graphics would get a little old. Its still Dragon Age at its heart but with a different paint job. I just hope the pride demon does his crazy laugh once more lol
@@Bowskii OMG YES!!! The pride demon laugh is amazing. You're beyond welcome my dude. After seeing the gameplay, I'm dying to see the character creator.
@@MicahLetsPlay lol 🤣 gonna take me like 5 hours to create my first character but I can't wait. I'm gonna nerd out lol. I still have no idea what I even wanna play. Too many good choices like always in Dragon Age games.
I also really enjoyed You, Angel Arts and XEI's take on the trailer. We are rare for sure but it's nice to see more positive views on it. Critical when you need to be but also open minded about everything. The game is looking good things definitely has changed but this could be a good thing we won't really know until we get in game. All we can do is wait and see. I'm excited for it though I truly can't wait. I remember years back myself and XEI were doing DAO LPs at the same time that how I ended up meeting him we have been friends ever since, a really great guy. Love to see other great content creators reaching out to each other.
Re: Varric's voice actor. It might be worth noting that Brian Bloom is the same age as Varric, lol. Our favorite surface dwarf is canonically 52 now, (Bloom is 53), and given that it's been 10 years since the story events of Inquisition AND the release of that title, it would definitely track for Bloom himself to just have an older voice. LOL
@@Bowskii Lord yes. Being a few years away from 50 hits a lot different from being in your late 30s. I look back and I'm all...whoa, I was really still JUST in my 30s????
Let’s gooo 🙌🏻🙌🏻 haven’t watched all the way through yet so you might answer this in the vid but would love to know what backstory you think you might go for!
hahah enjoy the video my friend. And honestly I'm not really sure what background I would choose. I'm not 100 percent sure what all the backgrounds may be. This Shadowdragon organization sounds really interesting though.
@@Bowskiiwell I look forward to it’s release to watch your playthrough!! 😁 Wish they’d have a full date though “fall 2024” is a bit too vague for my liking 😂
@@Bowskiithere is some cool info on their website and some extra lore but I will say it does have slight spoilers so if you wanna go in as blind as possible avoid the website!
oh no worries I'm gonna pass I really just wanted to see the combat I wont read into more of the details the game has at this point I will def be reacting to more trailers for sure but the minor things I'm gonna let the game surprise me as we go with the LP.
I just had to come back to this video now that voice actors for Rooks and companions have been publicly announced and say damn you have a good ear, I literally never realized Harding's actress is Liara's actress too all this time :) Veilguard will have some cool voices. some other voice actors that will be here are also in BG3 :) and guy who played Javik our fave prothean in Mass Effect is playing Davrin, our new Gray Warden companion. so happy about that loved him as Javik :)
Goodness I can't wait!! I been so excited but I been completely ghosting all media lately as I just want it all to be such a surprise. But I definitely been hearing the minor things. I'm so glad to know some of the voice actors that are going to be in it. You just know they are gonna rock it!!
I'm pretty sure his voice actor is the same voice actor for Eivor from AC: Valhalla. A Nordic voice coming out of a Black mouth. It works, somehow. I also really hope that (assuming I decide to play this game) that Black Rook is one of the main defaults; he looks awesome, and you know, representation matters, and all that.
Hmm I'm not sure I never played any assassin's creed games just yet. I know I'm way behind the times. With the main character id imagine this will be a default male Rook and in the next Trailer they will be showing the female. I think this Rook looked awesome they did a great job with it. I wanna see a dwarf default for Rook lol 🤣 I don't think they would do that though as they don't seem popular but I love the dwarves def my favorite race in Thedas.
@@Bowskii , if no one liked dwarves, they wouldn't exist, so your love for them is not only valid, but unindividual. Also, just so you know, the composer is Hans Zimmer. He wrote the music to many of Christopher Nolan's movies, Pirates of The Caribbean, 12 Years A Slave, and even the Lion King.
@@Leomerya12 well I know people like dwarves of course but most people wanna see elves and humans let's be honest they never show a dwarf as the main character. I would love to see them I don't usually play humans as much I will go Elf though at times. But I wanna see a bearded beast of a dwarf 😄
(i changed my user, but 'tis I, the jon you know) thanks for the rection my man!! I love how everything looked in here. the change in demons is to better reflect how they really look like, they are creatures of emotion, which is why their "nervous system" is showing and stuff. the devs said they wanted to reflect that. now, I’m guessing, if you think about it, this is not how demons have usually entered the physical world, there has always been a summoning going on of some kind. and in inquisition, cory opened a rift in the sky. but solas is doing here a ritual, so you could say it’s not exactly the same thing, hence the appearance change, again this last part is just my guess. and regarding that cost of the abilities you mentioned, it is confirmed each class has a unique "resource" to fuel their abilities. rogues have momentum. it builds up as you normally attack, like stamina in previous games. but unlike in previous games, if you pay attention to it, you can see that the momentum bar goes down a little bit each time the rogue takes a hit. So, you have to be on point with those dodges and parries I’m afraid because it is not just health you are losing lol at least for rogues. Anyway, amazing video as always. Expect to see your gay bestie in your comments a lot more from now on. I am the gay bestie.
you know I'm happy you brought that up about the demons i feel a bit better about the change on them now. I do like the old versions better but, It does make a bit more sense if you think about it. Yes it will take some time to get use to like everything does. I mean look at the darkspawn change from DAO to DA2 that's and the Elves look. It def took some time but in time I grew to really enjoy it. I'm digging the combat alot i love systems to go beyond just firing off all abilities. Have another resource we need to spend for dodging and blocking is going to be tough but its going to be so much fun. Its only the start of all these DAV vids I cant wait to see more as we go and of course I cant wait to make our Rook and start our story! So much more to discuss as we go so much lore so much tactics we all cant talk about. Its gonna be great and of course the theories.
Hello Bowskii, I am glad you actually decided to react to the gameplay reveal, it's all so exciting!! I agree it's kind of sad to see the DAO combat system go, I enjoyed it a lot. Also I am playing Baldur's Gate 2 at the moment which is also a Bioware game (but very old :D) and the combat is very similar to Origins. But I don't mind the change that much, the combat in Veilguard looks so amazing and I can't wait to try it out. I like the new demon design, they look less physical now, like they are really a manifestation of an emotion or something, I like how you can see their veins but they don't have their own body and I am curious to see the other enemies. I haven't played Mass Effect yet but the way you talked about it made me excited to play it one day :)
thank you my friend I was strongly considering skipping the r reveal but I just had to know I wanted to see the gameplay and how they are going to approach the game. I did however love the Origins combat it was relaxing to play it. We could play it with one hand. My favorite in the trilogy so far was DA2 combat I love the fast paced stuff but with lots of tactics and combos. Holy moly you are in for a treat with Mass Effect I just finished my first time run finally and that series was amazing. And I kind of wish I played the old BG games before jumping into 3 but I def will one day either off camera or on.
@@Bowskii I agree, I also like DA2 combat a lot, it was truly a perfect mix! Thank you, I can't wait to play ME, if it's anything like Dragon Age I know that I will love it. It's great that you played those games on the channel, I will will definitely watch your let's plays after I finish them :D And I can't recommend the original Baldur's Gate games enough. I also played BG3 first and then went back, it was so good to recognize the locations, the lore and even some characters. A lot of things in BG3 suddenly made a lot of sense :D It's true that they are old games now, but I think the story is worth it, it is well written, I think your let's play would be amazing :) I hope you enjoy them when you play them eventually!
that's awesome I hope you enjoy those LPs. They are my first ever LPs I did on the channel so I def have changed a bit and gotten better equipment but hey I was excited to just start recording and start somewhere. But just being able to soon play a new dragon age game on the channel is so awesome and cant wait to do it.
What is going to be your headcanon for the first three games leading into Veilguard? Do you already have an idea about your Rook's background? I think I might play as a Qunari Warden, I don't think I've ever heard of one.
I have a lets play of DAO, DA2 and DAI on the channel atm I'm going to import those ones into DAV if we are able to. But long and short of it my Warden was a Warrior Male Dalish, My Hawke was a male Mage and my inquisitor is a Male Dwarven Rogue. I wanted to spread the love of each class and each race. For DAV a Qunari is the only race I haven't played yet so that is a high possibility and Dwarves are my favorite race so that might be a choice as well. I will say that I'm not playing a human or a rogue for this play through so it will either be a warrior or mage. But gonna be hard to pick between Qunari, Dwarf and Elf. Not to sure about the background.
So it's a dragon age 2, preset character situation? I heard them call the character Rook. So is that like Hawk, a prenamed character, or is that a title like Inquisition?
One of the things I didn't like about this gameplay was how Rook acted without player input to save that woman at the beginning (3:43). I typically prefer to roleplay as a more individualistic anti-hero type of character who usually doesn't care much about others, so that could severely affect how I roleplay.
That definitely would be a bit tough to RP a character that isn't choosing to help people. I always wanna RP a renegade type of character on my second run through or at least try since most of the time I'm usually a bit Chaotic good in my style for the first playthrough in games.
I'm pretty sure that the "old friend" Varric is talking about can only be either Dorian, or possibly Maevaris. If you don't know her, she's a character from the comics (and maybe a book). Although I don't know if Varric would refer to her as an "old friend" as such. She's the wife of a deceased cousin of his. She's also a Tevinter Magister, with the same goal as Dorian toward reform, so I think she'd be just as likely to be aligned with the Shadow Dragons as he would. I can't remember for certain so I might just be making this up, but I want to say I remember her being mentioned in one of the war table missions from Inquisition. That said - I'm inclined to think his old friend would be Dorian and this is meant to be a shout-out to Inquisition fans. But then again, if Maevaris were to make an appearance, this would also be a cool way of signaling that to book/comics readers.
I know a little about Maevaris but not much only from DAI wartable stuff but yeah that would make sense it either being Dorian or Maevaris. I guess Fenris wouldn't really make sense fully. But with Bioware you never know maybe an old companion will be the leaders of each of these factions.
@@Bowskii You know, you're on to something. Am I making this up or wasn't there something said at some point about Zevran heading the Crows? It WOULD make sense for Fenris to lead the Shadow Dragons. I'm not sure which former companions would make sense with the others. Sera or Isabela both come to mind for Lords of Fortune. I can't decide if it would make sense for Merrill to be one of the Veil Jumpers, or if that would be more Velanna's speed (not that Velanna was a hugely popular character, never mind she was from an expansion that I don't think got a ton of play). Hmm.
That gameplay reveal was a bomb, I'm so looking forward to it now, even replaying Inquisition now for a refresher. With those vibes I can get past a art style I enjoy less easy! Looking forward to your playthrough too! Sacastic Hawke is a legend to me.
I really enjoyed what I have seen so far. I'm looking forward to seeing more i cant wait to see the mage and rogue. Sarcastic Hawke is god tier I love it so much.
As always great video! A small tip if you love the lore you might consider reading tevinter nights as well as short stories plus dragon age the missing comic book series as they set the stage for this game. They are pretty good!
oh most def atm I'm re playing all the games in order and reading all books and comics in order as well. Atm I'm in DAO and after that I will be starting the rest of the books and games in order. I recently finished the calling book and got all the books and comics sent to me off amazon. Def was a pretty penny but I'm excited and cant wait to see it all before Veilguard.
For the demons, something felt parasitic about them. Those purple and yellow nerve ends crawling through them. As if something was taking the demons original form of pride and rage and corrupting them, controlling them. I wonder who would want to do that?
Yeah it sure looked like it. It had a lyrium feel to it. Wouldn't be crazy if some how it's a twist with the Titans or it's Solas way of controlling them maybe. But the pride demon almost looked mechanical like a decepticon 😂
Tried both Templar and Mage path, And Tried All 3 Divines! The Templar path, gives definitely more to the Companions! I also finally got what was bothering me with Veilguard as i rewatched some Origin Gameplay. DA is no longer gory 😅 That's the biggest change! Was Happy to see Solas for some reason! Who would have thought 🤣
I really need to check out the templar path I think I'm gonna re do a run off camera is I have the time and check it out so I can get a bigger picture of the story. So I was seeing the gore when Rook would hit people but it was super quick and you would need to slow it down or pause to see the gore coming out.
You’re so right about the tactics in DAII. That game doesn’t get any of the credit it deserves for the things it did well because of the recycled assets. The tactics options in that game were the best in the series. In my opinion.
Truer words have never been spoken my friend. It's not even close how much better the tactics and gameplay was for DA2. The reused areas really blinded a lot of people from seeing how great that game actually was. Just imagine if they had more time to make that game what it truly could have been.
DA2 is by fare the best game combat wise.. all the tactics of DAO plus faster more enjoyable combat and better moves. it was perfect and is always so satisfying to play. I dont get why so many ppl get stuck on reused maps. it's literally the least important part of Dragon Age games. no one plays for maps, you play for combat, story, lore, companions etc... and all those things were great in DA2 :)
Re: the choice to show us the gameplay they did. This is the one thing that genuinely worries me. It seems like a conspicuously bizarre choice to show us combat this early in the game. Almost as if they quite literally did not have something BETTER to showcase. Because if they had a finished point in the game where they could show us pure combat that allowed for a more comprehensive demonstration of the combat...why would they NOT show that? That's one of the few legitimate critiques I've seen that dampens my enthusiasm and makes me at least a little worried that we might actually see a delay from the advertised Fall 2024 release. That said - I dunno, maybe they did have a good reason for showing us combat THIS early in the game. I'm not fully convinced, because with Inquisition they showed us a slice of combat from Crestwood (albeit in a form that did not make it into the final product, but even so). They were able to show us that without ANY spoilers and, if I recall correctly, not even any cutscenes. It was almost exclusively combat. But I'm trying to remain optimistic that they really are on the verge of releasing it and it was just a bizarre marketing choice.
I'm not sure honestly but I do know DAI had all types of combat even showing Dragon Fights parts of a main quest and higher level stuff. I don't know why they wanted to show so low of stuff. You got to figure most people when they play a game they either stay or go in them first hours and most will sometimes go because combat or story may be slow. You would figure that they would wanna show the good stuff first to rope in more people. So I'm unsure with the approach. But I did however enjoy what little we got a chance to see. I want more though. My biggest concern is the gameplay will be like Black Desert or Monster hunter. I'm not a huge fan of that press and button and another button at once and then hit the directional pad a certain way and boom you got a combo. I just hope its tab target press buttons 1-0 for abilities and then maybe the left clicker and right clicker for light and heavy attacks.
So I’d wanna know if we pick the grey warden background will we be an actual grey warden, or will we just be someone like the people in the keep in dragon age awakening. where they are extremely loyal to the grey wardens and are more trusted and knowledgeable about grey wardens than the average person.
I don't think you're wrong about Neve - EVERYONE who sees her has commented that she has Vivienne vibes, myself included. I think that's by design. Bioware knows what we like! But yeah, she strikes me as Vivienne, albeit without the, ah...caustic bits.
she really does its really the only comparison we can make of Neve atm. I'm looking forward to seeing how she is so far I'm most excited for her out of the new people that we have saw. Harding I'm excited for but we knew her already but from the brand new people see seems like an interesting one.
@@Bowskii I'm excited for Harding, but I also pretty much expected she would be in the next game once it became clear she was a fan favorite. (Also, an aside, I had planned to romance her, but there's concept of her chilling with Neve that makes me think Neve would shank me with an ice shard for stepping on her territory). Neve strikes me as Vivienne with all the cunning and charm and none of the bits that make me want to strangle her, so I'm REALLY stoked. But I think Davrin is the one I'm most intrigued by. I understand that he, like all the others, has a story in Tevinter Nights. I might get around to reading it and get an idea of his backstory. But absent that, I'm guessing that he is alienated from the Grey Warden order for some reason. I REALLY want to dig into wtf is happening with the Wardens - I've been kind of mistrustful of them since the Legacy DLC in DA2, but some of the comments about them in Inquisition solidified it (quite aside from how easily they were duped by Cory's henchman.
I'm glad you decided to watch it.. and also that you skipped the part in the end lol. yeah combat looks very different so do demons. some changes I like some I dont. Like I feel Pride demon is a downgrade I miss the old design 😅 but it's just smth to get used too. on the plus side combat feels fluid and fun like hell. I do feel they didn't showcased it properly.. Game Informer article that came out recently show more of the skill trees and they look very involved and detailed and you still get to pause combat, direct your companions, even que up their attacks and set up their combos between party members.. I really love that the emphasize on combo skills is back I will have a lot of fun exploring those :) the landscapes and environments look amazing too :) Also dont want to spoil anything because Game Informer article revealed a lot but there is a LOT of ancient lore drops incoming :)
I'm happy I did as well and of course skipped the end lol i feel like Bioware is a bit wild atm with giving away these spoilers. Don't really know why they would do it but I'm going dark on all platforms just incase I see spoilers. I really enjoyed what I seen here but I'm still unsure about the demons I'm not the hugest fan of the change but it makes me wonder if it was a lore thing and it was changed because of what is going on now. I will get used to it and may grow to love it. Combat wise it looks so good I hope it still tab target press abilities type of combat the only thing I'm worried about is it might be like Black Desert Online or Monster Hunter since we didn't see much in the way or pressing 1-0 at the bottom of the screen. But it was console so I'm unsure. But I do hope its def tab target stuff.
hahah yeah I def don't wanna see or know anything about what's gonna happen with Solas. Yea we got to see a bit much with his plan but that's not unusual I figured we would with how it left of in DAI. But whatever happens at the end I'm gonna leave that for the LP. I cant wait to see it though. Hell it might even be different in game I remember in DAI some of the trailers showed story stuff but in game it ended up being different.
I'm very excited about Veilguard, but I do feel a lot of what built the dragon age aesthetic has been lost through time. The designs of the demons, for example, were very unique in Origins: a hunched scrawny shade, a sexy desire demon, a flaming rage demon and a big burly pride demon? All fantastic. But these new ones suffer from a particular design choice: when you make them all basically a legless, floaty dark blob full of holes with glowy branches, all you really have to tell them apart is the shiny bits. So now we have Purple demon, Yellow demon and Blue demon...definitely a far cry from what the older games taught us to love. I really don't like them going down to 2 companions, with only 3 abilities each, and apparently no stamina/mana gauge in favor of a charging special bar. It feels like a lot of the Dragon Age identity is gone in this iteration...But like you said, we still have to see how combos work with other abilities and companions. Maybe it is amazing. I really hope it is!
The change of the art direction for the characters has been fine to me. I actually think it seems to work better with the frostbite engine. However the change to the demons and enemies thus far has been a bit puzzling. On one hand I think they looks pretty badass and it's never a bad thing to change a little. But then on the other hand I kinda of miss the original looking demons. I think if they are going for anymore Mass Effect feel with combat we should be ok with just two companions. But I think my personal favorite of it all was how it was done in DA2. We had 3 companions very smart AI how they would run away if being meleed. But not only that the tactics was some of my favorite things to set for our companions. What's worries me the most and I meant to bring it up in the video is I hope the combos we are seeing Rook do isn't like playing Black desert. If you're not familiar with that what I mean is we don't see the player pressing buttons on screen so it's like we must press the A button and then at the same time press another button like the B button and then push the directional button a certain way to perform it. I feel like if that is how the combat is I won't be a fan of it at all. So I'm hoping it's still a tab target and press 1-0 buttons to use abilities. I'm not sure how the player was performing the moves Room was doing but let's hope they keep the tab target press 1-0 to use abilities.
hahaha it might take up the whole screen be careful lolol. But sounds good my friend thank you for checking it out and the support on the channel its very much appreciated. And I agree it looks pretty great so far I cant wait to see higher level builds its going to be alot of fun.
I love the new combat, but really don’t like the new demon designs. They went from being unique & terrifying to looking & sounding just plain generic. Can’t wrap my head around why they would change them so drastically.
I honestly like the demons better in the other games specifically pride rage and desire. Kind of hope the new change is because of t story or lore thing but I wouldn't mind going back lol
at 6:00 that is actually a pride demon. the demon artistic style they choose to go with I dont like it is like something out of borderlands or overwatch and very cartoony. Makes it feel like the demons dont belong in this game since this is supposed to be a dark fantasy game. All the other graphics are good and the combat looks like it will be good too.
as the video goes on I drop my thoughts on the demon change but I def did find it a little puzzling with the change to them they look a bit mechanical the pride demons at least but it makes me believe it might be some reason for it story wise why the change. Well either that or it was just a different direction with the art.
@@Bowskii appreciate your review and positivity about it. I will still play it though just hoping they dont drop the ball on this game as it may affect the next mass effect game coming out.
@@russman74 yeah I wanna big win for Bioware. Now that I finished the Mass Effect trilogy on the channel this past year I need more Mass Effect immediately and a big win for Dragon Age is a big win for Mass Effect.
I have to admit I was a liiiiiitle disappointed by the three ability limitation. I even felt that 8 wasn't enough in Inquisition. But I have also enjoyed games like Diablo where it's very limited in active abilities but you can highly specialize and build them how you want. So we'll see! I'm still optimistic.
I want more abilities as well. I love combat in games when it's a bit more tough and or more tactics involved with how we play our classes. I think going away from maybe at least 6 abilities is kind of rough but it could also work if the game is leaning more towards a Mass Effect feel. It truly does feel like they adopted that style here. I'm optimistic as well I loved what I saw. In time I hope they release more and more so we can see the other classes as I'm never a huge rogue player myself. I'm more of a warrior or mage player. But I'm excited to see where it goes. Though one more thing is I was really hoping for tactics once again how they use to be in DAO and DA2 I wanna set up our ai of the companions but I think that might be gone for good.
@@Bowskiiwe do also see the player using some abilities not on the bar like pulling out their bow and leaping to enemies. So we'll see on that, and if that's just base stuff or if that is also customizable. Yeah long gone are the old school Bioware games like DAO, KOTOR, and the original Baldurs Gate games. I do wish they would try to lean into their roots and come up with a modern version of real time with pause. But I've accepted defeat on that I think at this point...
yeah I'm gonna really miss that gameplay as well. BG3 was so successful with that turnbase style I would love!!! to see a turn based bioware game lol but even the Origins style once again would be very welcome i really loved all the combat in each of the games.
It looks like Dragon Age The Veilguard it has some similarities to Mass Effect maybe Swtor a little Witcher 3 with the combat but looks like itself and really good. But every game out there share similarities no matter what it is same with movies ect.
yeah I'm a little shocked that they didn't show a bit more abilities and went through a few different stages of the characters level. Just a level 1 rook pretty much. I liked what I saw I believe the next trailer will probably be a lot more classes and stuff. Its like they wanna spread it out it seems instead of giving most away in one trailer. But I was generally shocked we didn't have more abilities used for the rogue. Story wise its gonna be awesome I agree. It is just set up so perfect atm.
i think it's because they wanted to show story and combat with the gameplay and any 'later in the game' story beats might be too spoilery that being said, they can release just a clip of one battle of gameplay without anything story wise but i think the initial gameplay they wanted to give people a feel for everything and not just combat which is why they went with what they went with i think it will be very mass effect, you can control your companions to deliver abilities and do combos with those abilities
@@Bowskii Looking back, it's hilarious to see how diplomatic he was trying to be with "so charming and rustic." He seems now to have genuinely been doing his best to avoid being rude.
right lol
So this adds context to everyone calling Ferelden "country" and smelling like "wet dogs."
bet you Tevinter smells like blood and thunder with all the blood magic and well the demons coming through now.
@@Bowskii don't forget about oppression lol
But all in all I think they have a lot of potential with the game and the story I'm looking forward to see what happens next.
i agree, every game has pros and cons
origins had some great things bout it but i can say so did da2 and da:i
i can say bad things and good things about all three but i did immensely enjoy all three
and i think people are like 'but origins!' didn't or barley played any of the other games or have some serious nostalgia glasses which people who recently went through the games would not
I couldn't agree with you more!
DA is going to make a case for game of the year most likely.
It definitely will for sure. It's definitely got the potential and foundation to do it.
The game will be a big chance to learn about it for me :))
The combat looks a lot like dragon age 2, but more fluid and fast.
Hopefully this game huge . Hopefully the promise of more complex romances with more adult content 😊 is fulfilled.
I hope so as well. I'd love another big game that takes us completionist players about 200 hours to beat 😂. More mature content in romance scenes would definitely be welcome as well.
they have said nudity and even in da:i there was nudity based on who you romance
lol why is that your number 1 thing you want
Beautiful!! We need more combos like this we need more tactical thinking going into situations I love this.
@Bowskii Bro, I've actually started a character sheet on figuring out how I'm going to do my first playthrough. 🤣
LOL
lol true and damn time sure does fly. I really like Brian Bloom alot I'm glad he kept his role as Varric this long.
@@Bowskii Tell me about it. I'm having a hard time with the fact that I was in my late 30s when Inquisition and now I'm in my late 40s...

I cant wait to see this game and when its released I really wanna know when its gonna drop. And I need to fully get ready still lol
Davrin honestly sounded like Jacob Tayler lol
I'm really not sure. I think it can go both ways. If I had to guess I think it's gonna be more like Hawke. A name instead of a title.
I always wanna RP a renegade type of character on my second run through or at least try since most of the time I'm usually a bit Chaotic good in my style for the first playthrough in games.
lol i feel you though i normally veer towards 'help everyone' characters
you could always headcanon that rook knew that person if you have to lol
@@Bowskii ....I...I forgot about Fenris...yes, it absolutely could be him... :::shuffles off, head down in shame::::
@@amypetty5013 but seriously what if that is the twist. What if an old companion is the leader of each of these organizations. That would be awesome.
Hmm.
Yesss finally!!! Dragon Age 4 and I already put dragon 4 on my wishlist for ps5💚
Hell yes I can't wait I'm excited. It's been way too long since we played a new Dragon Age game.
I wonder if our Warden has managed to stop the Grey Wardens Calling by now.
be pretty awesome if they did I hope we get resolution to that.
The game looks so good. Combat looks pretty fun as well. Cant wait
It really does! The graphics are pretty awesome and the gameplay looks smooth. Definitely looking forward to another trailer or gameplay soon.
My question is how the romance will come into play for spoilers (i'm trying to keep it vague just in case.)
with bioware id imagine they are gonne be done very good probably a more adult type of scenes since they seem to be going down the nudity type route.
I would imagine they would probably be making us one full force. Won't lie it would be odd if we can pick to be one but we aren't truly one.
Yes yes yes!!!
enjoy the reveal my friend I certainty loved it.
I really love that the emphasize on combo skills is back I will have a lot of fun exploring those :) the landscapes and environments look amazing too :)
Also dont want to spoil anything because Game Informer article revealed a lot but there is a LOT of ancient lore drops incoming :)
Im glad you stop watching where you did. I didn't and really regretted it. There wasn't a big spoiler but enough to make me wonder lol
hahah yeah I def don't wanna see or know anything about what's gonna happen with Solas.
@@Bowskii bit of a left field question but did you ever see the Austin powers in mass effect mash up?
hahah no but it sounds absolutely hilarious
I'm going to watch this when I get home so I can see your big fat head on the TV 😂. Can't wait for this game it looks good
hahaha it might take up the whole screen be careful lolol. But sounds good my friend thank you for checking it out and the support on the channel its very much appreciated. And I agree it looks pretty great so far I cant wait to see higher level builds its going to be alot of fun.
Absolutely man and also happy Father's Day
@@daryleb87 you as well if you are a father have a wonderful day!
Diablo Age: The Veilguard
It looks like Dragon Age The Veilguard it has some similarities to Mass Effect maybe Swtor a little Witcher 3 with the combat but looks like itself and really good.
But every game out there share similarities no matter what it is same with movies ect.
I think story-wise they might deliver
But gameplay-wise...they need to reveal a combat video involving all three classes at high levels
yeah I'm a little shocked that they didn't show a bit more abilities and went through a few different stages of the characters level.
@@Bowskii yeah, if they don't they will definitely disappoint origins fans. And they're loud
i think it's because they wanted to show story and combat with the gameplay and any 'later in the game' story beats might be too spoilery
that being said, they can release just a clip of one battle of gameplay without anything story wise but i think the initial gameplay they wanted to give people a feel for everything and not just combat which is why they went with what they went with
i think it will be very mass effect, you can control your companions to deliver abilities and do combos with those abilities
