I'm still getting a T for Teen vibe instead of M for Mature, there's no blood, no finishers, all the particle effects seemed very fun instead of visceral. The tactical mode was severely lacking, looks like they went back to DA2 with only being able to tell companions what moves to use instead of in-depth tactics like Origins or even Inquisition. Glad to see character backgrounds are back and the action side of combat looks good, so I'm still hopeful but this left a lot to be desired for me. Crossing my fingers they'll bring back the Dragon Age Keep, to let us fine tune or change our decisions from Inquisition.
Perhaps you've already seen it since commenting, but keep will not work with it as the game is supposedly entirely offline. However you do get to make choices from the previous games through a tarrot card retelling at the beginning and you get to recreate your inquisitor from the last game after making your new one for rook
@@orionlong4863 Yeah, I saw which is a bummer, but hey at least it's something. My biggest fear is all those story points we've been wanting conclusions to will just be forgotten. I wanted to throw up after the MS showcase trailer. I'm completely back in after this gameplay preview. Game looks incredible. I can't wait to see how the other classes play.
My faith in the tone, and visuals has been mostly restored after that reveal. Combat looks snappier than Inquisition which may not be bad, hoping it keeps some of the depth and tactics left from DA: I. Theres a lot of dialogue from the player not being chosen which worries me but honestly they won't please every little thing i and anyone else might be looking for. What matters more than anything else for me for Veil Guard is doing justice to the story and characters we have spent so long with. I can have problems everywhere else but if they nail the story, characters, and writing that will be enough.
I'm not too worried about having a more assertive protagonist. We didn't choose every dialogue option in the ME games, or even something like Witcher 3 and that worked well too. My guess is that smaller banter will be automated for quicker story progression, but decisions and conversations with companions will be like every other DA game.

hopefully we can see more about the system like the classes, gear, stronghold stuff. I play DA for that and the "choices matter" aspect. Gameplay has always been backseat in bioware games, but the combat shown is good enough for this kind of game
The fact that a random dude (protagonist) has easily interrupted Solas's ritual he's been preparing for 10 years is so funny. What is funnier is that now the consequences of this interruption are far more drastic than the results of the original ritual as now two elder gods are being freed. This just decries Solas' status of a powerful elven God...
How does anybody look at this and be exited? As soon as I saw the character I knew where this was going… Then I saw the town, weird AF and then saw the crappy/flashy for no reason gameplay and I was out. Rather have more Inquisition gameplay with more bells and whistles TBH…
Ok some things I can't let stay in the room from what Andy said. DA wasn't really a humourous game with funny characters, it sounded a little like it but DA1 was brutal, bloody and there was nothing really to humourous from the character. About "peak Frost engine" usage. Yes it looks great but the magic that was cast from a char, I didn't see any impact on the environment, specifically foliage, grass, trees, bushes. Let's be realistic, hope it will be a good game, but I have to wait and see a little bit more.
Did we play the same Dragon Age Origins? This was the same game with Alistair and Morrigan, who couldn't go two seconds without endlessly berating each other with sarcasm. The best weapon in the game you literally get from a tongue and cheek Superman easter egg.
@@killerkoalas3573 I didn't said there was no humour but it sounded like he was saying it was a game with funny characters in a funny vibrant world. That's all.
Bruh, its the opposite. People forcimg themselves to say they like it. "Dragon Age is back"? Even one of the host first impression was it looks like Fable, haha, it doesnt look like Dragon Age.
the only dragon age game I played is inquisition and I adored it. I did enjoy the combat but the decision to make it more action focused is *exactly* what I wanted personally. Maybe longtime fans will disagree but this quickly shoots up to my number 1 anticipated game of the year
Dont listen to the DA Origins elitist.. They're still stuck in 2009. Dont get me wrong Origins was a very good game but they just refuse to let the series evolve. This trailer looked awesome , coming from someone that played all 3 Dragon Age games multiple times
@@GoldussstPeople who are stuck in 2009 need to move on. Obviously Dragon Age isn't for them if they only liked one game. They can choose to not buy this if they don't like it. There are plenty of other games out there. I played from the beginning too. Loved Origins and I also read the novels. Dragon Age II was ok but rushed. The story was still good but other stuff could've been better. Inquisition I really like and I think the party members I liked more in Inquisition. When it come to the characters and romances, they've all been fine in each game. Gameplay has changed but I have enjoyed them all.
@@SorceressWitch 100% agreed.. DA2 is the only one that i didnt really love. This trailer is basically Inquisition on steroid , and that's fine with me. If they release it in a polished state the game will do very well. All the whining is coming from the vocal minority.. I wouldnt worry too much
@@Goldussst Stuck in 2009 but BG3 swept every fucking award show and was a massive success. "let the series evolve" More like let is devolve to try to appeal to the lowest common denominator.
I was not feeling this gameplay at all. Too boring for what they showed and looked like the same basic hits over and over. I also noticed no switching like they said and dear god please for the love of god no. DA npc’s are sooo stupid!! I swear if there is no way to force the tank to do things and stand in the right place or a way to force it I’m gonna die lol. Feels too weird
For ALOT of people mainly fanboys if it's not Dragon Age Origins it's automatically trash 😅 (trust me I'm getting death threats cause I told those fanboys that it's only a video game)
Character models look like ass. It looks like an old arcane game. Combat looks tight though. Inquisition is 7 years old and those graphics are like 10 times better.
Andy, you're an artist, and it may be that you aren't seeing this as close, but this is nothing like past Dragon Age games. The characters are not proportioned like humans. Their heads are all slightly bigger on these shorter bodies, like they've been produced for a Disney movie instead of Dragon Age. You and Greg can like it, of course. But look at the model of Neve, then go back and look at the model of Cassandra in Inquisition. Cassandra is proportioned like an average human woman. Even Solas, who was this tall, skinny guy, has changed proportions where he looks stodgy now. Dragon Age was gritty, that's why there was always blood all over you. Now it looks like kids animation. The character models in Baldur's Gate 3 look better, but I'd also say that for Cyberpunk 2077 or even Witcher 3. The character models in the Fable trailer looked so much better. Then they just copied the play style of Mass Effect. It was wonderful that they were separate things. You could always switch to your other party members in Dragon Age. Now it's squad commands like Mass Effect. I'm so disappointed. And this might entice some players who are mainly/only action rpg fans to try the series, But i do think this will turn off many long time fans. Bioware just isn't Bioware anymore, i have to accept that.
The IGN video is FULL of negative comments. I guess all the fans of the game are KFG best friends. Hell, even the hosts here are head over heels for Veilguard... seems that someone doesn't wanna loose their EA sponsorship!

This just decries Solas' status of a powerful elven God...
Is this a mobile game port ?
I think your phone would explode if you tried to render any of this
How does anybody look at this and be exited?
That's all.
How the hell did the word “Detective “ make it through reviews?!! A “Detective” in The Dragon Age??
It looks like inquisition with slightly worse looking character and monster designs
People are just forcing themselves to hate this at this point.
I watched this and can't wait to play.
I’m sold.
Thumbnail looks like a league character smh 😫💔
I don’t get the outrage with this one. If it runs this well on launch it looks pretty enjoyable. Mind you I haven’t played other Dragon Age games…
For ALOT of people mainly fanboys if it's not Dragon Age Origins it's automatically trash 😅 (trust me I'm getting death threats cause I told those fanboys that it's only a video game)
Everyone who likes this seems to never seen pr played another DA game. Seems to common theme here.
And this might entice some players who are mainly/only action rpg fans to try the series,
But i do think this will turn off many long time fans. Bioware just isn't Bioware anymore, i have to accept that.
Looks fantastic, real-time combat, no turn-based garbage please
Did ea just bootleg the kingdoms of amalur?
I can’t believe they went with comic style characters 😢 They don’t even look realistic.
there is noting of dragon age in there.
still not sold honestly. This seems leans in to all the weakest parts of DA:I with the lighter tone, simplified gameplay and meaningless decisions.
Then don’t buy, boohoo 😢
Wdym lighter tone? This is the same tone as DA2 and the original.
Delusional
Meaningless decisions? They literally confirmed the choices impact the characters like the Mass Effect games do
Afraid of being too honest? Nobody wants these shit companions, the true Dragon Age fans wants Morrigan, Leliana, Cassandra and Alistair.
R.I.P Bioware
Looks rather mediocre, and Origins is better. Suppose all the talent truly has left BioWare, including the writers.
Game looks terrible.....just raw sewage.
The IGN video is FULL of negative comments. I guess all the fans of the game are KFG best friends.
Hell, even the hosts here are head over heels for Veilguard... seems that someone doesn't wanna loose their EA sponsorship!
Or and hear me out on this…
It looks fun to casual gamers. The KFG audience is mostly casuals/people who have lives. Hope this helps:)
Yeah... no. This looks bad, really bad. Especially if you have to pause-fight...
Tell us you've never played a Dragon Age game before..
