I watched the eruption evolve on your channel and found it utterly compelling I know it affected peoples lives and livelihoods and I hope that that is getting back to some kind of normal whatever that is these days, however disregarding that the ability of nature to form new ground and then from that destruction build new eco systems in such a short time is truly amazing . Thanks for the updates and keep the posts coming best wishes to you from the UK
Get an excavator instead of a dozer. With the right attachment, you can literally 'pick and choose' what you want to move or whatever. You can grade with one too. Try a 'mini' to get used to controls, move up from there, as your projects require. Maholo Scott, thanks for the updates!
4 years wow, I love to see this, fissure 8 (I wouldn't know how to spell it in Hawaiian) all the greenery so verdant and lush. Is it still steaming out there from the baby 8s, that's a view I love to see especially in the mornings. It's been tough with my work hours to keep up but it's always a pleasure to see how things are on the opposite side of the world. As always mahalo for sharing 🏝️🌋😁👍❤️
Thx for the update. Plants sure do take over quickly. 4 years have passed quickly as that is when I started watching your channel. You continue to be entertaining with your hikes, sawing, chipping, chats, backyard tours with dogs, etc etc.
Thanks for the video Scott. That will be a great way to show folks back home here our hike out to fissure 8. A place you really have to see to get an idea of it's power!👍
I enjoyed the tour. I recall when you stood not far away from the last scene to shoot live video for us to view. Charles lot is almost lost in the ferns. Wow! Nature sure rules, doesn't it? Take care, my boy.
Hi Scott! Hope things are great. We're planning yet Another Trip to Hawai'i for April 2023. Just can't get enough, I suppose. Thanks for the trip down memory lane here. Remember when I dare mention that tree was DEAD and making it some kind of symbol of endurance got me outcast by some of your more crazy followers? Good times. Maybe we will see you in the Spring!
Great view, simple but poignant reminder of Pele's fury and what it is capabe of doing. Unfortunately similar events are likely in the future as Halemau'mau keeps filling the crater. At some point the weight of lava will cause another collapse and lava will rush through the fissures.
Scott , did the people who lost their homes on Nohea Street get compensation and as they obviously still own their plots, would they be able to rebuild
Wow 4 years later thank you for the video
Wow ! That growth is amazing ! Thanks for taking us along Scott 👍👍
Interesting to see it 4 years latter. TY.

Fissure 8's name is Ahu'aila'au. Roughly Ah Who I Lah Ow
That truly is amazing Scott
Amazing how fast the plants grow back, but you are on the wet side of the island so there is plenty of water.
Please keep these videos coming, I really enjoy them...
Thanks you! I haven't been around for awile...you always lighten up my day!
The rate vegetation, especially those ferns, is reclaiming the flow and other damaged areas is astounding. Wishing you and your neighbors well.
Wow that vegetation sure takes over quick! The Red road looks good! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Haha...I remember it well!
Man!! It didn't take long for the jungle to take that over!!
Life returns to lavaland.

is charles lot on the north or south of fissure 8?
Where are you staying now?
Now that’s fast growing from the rich soil from volcano eruption 🌋
Hi Scott. Ah....memories!
That vegetation grows so fast on Hawaii that it must need a permanent residence to keep it under control?
Scott , did the people who lost their homes on Nohea Street get compensation and as they obviously still own their plots, would they be able to rebuild
Not sure of their status but they can rebuild if they choose.
So glad I didn’t buy my dream plot of land that is now under 50 feet of lava!
