You got them! The only thing about steering is how you exit the draft on the outsides. If you turn on the draft meter on sauce for zwift it’s a fine line between in and out of the draft on the right and left side. It really would be worth it for you to get sauce, you can set it up exactly the way you want it. I love using lap meters so I can pace myself on climbs or breaks. Also the W’bal meter and draft meter are pretty useful. It’s time you make the plunge!
Well done!! Enjoyed racing against you and you deserved to win 🥇…unfortunate DQ because of you HR monitor. My 3rd place feels a bit stolen as I finished 4th! Great video by the way, something else then me just streaming the race.
@@CloudRacer-9 haha thanks! It was fun racing with you too. Hopefully again soon! Same time next Monday? 😂 I wonder if streaming would be a good option too though... Haha. Now that’s top notch zwiftcraft! Well done James you deserved that win, hopefully race you and a few of the others again as it was pretty close looking at the finishing times and stats, hopefully do a longer route with some spicy climbs next time - I’ll take 3rd (2nd on Zwift Power😂)
Awesome job! Perfect execution of the race (C minus for readiness; no HR monitor??? I guess it happens...to some...but not the ultra-neurotic, like me) I don't like the shorter view for the final segment personally but the mini-map is still very key and watching for the timing of the sprints from behind you when the red flashes from someone behind you as it actually happened a second prior. And, I'm so glad you finally can steer-BIG advantage, so take it. On to the next
@@daletocemd4781 thanks! I kind of like the first person view for the finish but at the same time, not knowing whether people are right on my hip is not the best hahaha
Nicely done there James! Impressive finish and great tactics throughout. I thought you were going to puke for real at the end 🤣 I'm glad your controllers were worth the 1.5x haircut price!
@@RyanCondon thanks Ryan! I still have to watch your recent Tiny Race video. It was queued for this morning's trainer session but I traded it for video editing time because I can't do any of that when my kids are around hahaha
Such a lovely course to race on. Really punchy the whole race through! I actually did the same move as Vandamme in my race (...-650 RS) and made it stick to the end. The small hill gives you a very good launch pad, but you really need to pull it over the hill into the descent though. (Also did it with a pairing fault on the HRM unfortunatly) 😁
@@idsBme hahaha no HR brothers! Great job making it stick 😳. Must have been a very hard effort haha. Hope to race against you some day! Follow me on zwift if you haven't already! 👍
@@idsBme also, I love courses like this. Definitely fit my physiological profile better than most courses. I like short punchy efforts. That first climb is a little too long for my liking but it'll do 😂
@@alexfacciobene2832 😂😂😂 that's cuz you desperately wanna do Zwift races with me but for now you want to live thru me vicariously 😄. But it's okay. We will be ready for the road season coming up either way. HYPED!
I liked Vandamme’s move, especially if he doesn’t have a good sprint. Making it to the last 100m tells me that group didn’t have it under control. And there was a good chance that once he got that gap Group Two syndrome would take over and no one would chase. If he went from further out, it might work, but he also might get put on a leash and run out of energy to keep the longer move going
@@davidhofmayer1031 yeah, agreed. Anyone who doesn't have a sprint and is looking for a win, should at least try something similar to that move, if not get in a break earlier in the race. But if someone doesn't have a sprint but is just looking for a decent result (not looking for the win), sitting in is still the better choice I think
@@SilverCometCycling thanks! it's getting closer but still not the same haha. But it's also hard to compare because outdoor races you can coast quite a lot more than on Zwift. Either way, it seems like my peak outdoor would be somewhere around 1100 and maybe 900 for 20 seconds at the end of a race while indoor, it's about 925 peak and 650ish for 20 seconds? I'm not too worried about it haha. They are different animals!
Steering isn’t cheating-Zwift sets the rules. I hate it as a racer who hasn’t yet bought steering, because it makes it easier for a rider to attack and avoid getting drafted, but then as soon as they’re caught they can settle into draft and get ready to attack again. But again that’s Zwift’s choice to allow some unfairness between haves and have nots, presumably to encourage more purchases of Zwift Play
@@davidhofmayer1031 yeah I get that! I feel like with the pack dynamics, the more people who have steering, the more it'll even it out for everyone too though so 🤷. Maybe it isn't an advantage unless you use steering well
Of all the guys who post Zwift races I think you are the best. Your commentary is excellent. Great results in this race, congratulations.
