The Reality About Fighting & Training

- This was the second to the last training day before I began cutting weight for my last fight. Unfortunately about a week before I got sick, this is a common occurrence here it Thailand during this time of the year (abrupt changes in temperature).
At first I thought it was a common cold so I kept training since I still wanted to fight. A few days later the symptoms worsened. Weakness, body aching, sore throat, coughing and I felt like I was going to get a fever-I didn't check my temperature because I didn't want to know the extent of my symptoms since I know that would play a role mentally, which would go something like this: "I have a fever, I shouldn't be fighting." Sometimes knowing less is preferred. The next day the symptoms persisted so I took a half day from training (only ran in the morning. Light bag work/shadowboxed in the afternoon).
The next day (the current video you're watching) I came back to continue training (my trainer already knew about my situation). At 01:33 you can see I tell my trainer that I had a burning sensation in my lungs and that I felt slow and heavy-I could have told him that I am sick and that I didn't want to fight but these are important moments that will continue to form my attitude and mentality-plus I already knew the extent of my situation from previous experience fighting while sick-but without that first initial time of making the choice to fight regardless of my situation I would never have been able to make the decision to fight in my last fight.
This wasn't the first, or the last time I will train and fight while I am sick or injured. I take these negative aspects as a challenge. Persisting through these difficult times is what makes me mentally tougher. During the fight I did feel fine, I think the rest while cutting weight and medication helped.
Tell me if you've ever fought or had to do something while you weren't at your best.

Respect! You toughed it out and still fought a great fight! 💪🏼 “who’s gonna carry the boats!!” Lol
Got my second fight Sep 23 and I’m feeling a little rundown cutting weight but reading your description makes me realize I need to not let it get to me mentally and keep pushing.
That's the difference, you will be fine and come out much stronger mentally after the fight
Definitely feel you there. Life of a fighter is hard yet satisfying. especially after overcoming a hard fight.
Those are the best wins
@@TopicFight just fought and won against a veteran fighter last September 2. Definitely one of the hardest fight in my career. That feeling was the best
I got sick the week of my fight, even felt lightheaded when it came to shadowboxing. However, the visualization of the fight kept me going. I took the time to rest and on the day of the fight, asthma and everything, I finished and won the fight with a knock out! To those that are sick, visualize the fight and don’t let sickness affect your mentality.
Visualizing is a great tool, good work.
thats some real sh*t
Sometimes fasting helps with the transient illnesses. Maybe the weight cut fixed you!
Really? That's incredible if true
@@TopicFight I’m not sure how strong the evidence is for this, but I’ve seen a few lectures on the benefits of intermittent fasting on immune response. Some even speculate this is why we loose our appetites during viral illnesses. It’s a possibility. Either way, glad you’re feeling better!
