By the way if you try to cancel your 3 dollar plan you can get acorns to suggest their acorns assist plan for 1 dollar for just the investing account. Its kinda hidden😕
Looking back, I think Acorns should give you the option to invest in the total stock market through the ETF, VTI. It would be simpler. Their most aggressive portfolio could be 100% VTI, and their most conservative portfolio could be 100% BND. I think they do not do this because people would probably stop paying for their services and invest in the ETFs themselves if they saw that Acorns was just investing in VTI or BND.
Going for a new slick look for your videos I see. The pain for me is the $3-5 recurring fees just to use Acorn. You could just select an aggressive, moderate, or conservative premade Pie in M1. Or copy the ETF allocation over from Acorn to M1.
@@suzettampia9539 I sold it at a loss, so no. Americans should tell their state legislatures to repeal the Sixteenth Amendment. Before 1913, it was unconstitutional for the federal government to directly tax individuals' incomes.
The pain point for me with acorns is that fee. If you don't know jack about investing, you're likely not ready to sink thousands of dollars into it. And the less you have invested, the more those fees hurt, especially in the long term, which is the timescale you should be investing for.
How do you get your money so you can pay bills or pay off your car or buy a new car? I was wondering that one we started Acorn invest yesterday and now have 3 cents more then what we put in. Which was 40 because we put a 20 one time fee and a recurring of 20 as well a week. I hope we are able to pay off our car with this in like 5 or so years from now. I don't think we will touch it ever. New subscriber here. Hope you are still with Acorn or at least do more videos like this I know this was a year ago.
There isn’t an instance where they “take your money away”. Your investments could go down in value for a while which is normal though. If you want an hour on how I think things should go with a beginner investing check this video out: th-cam.com/video/r49Y8fTtW2M/w-d-xo.htmlsi=prkUlxaWR5gvBS4B
I prefer the medium risk portfolio. I’ve seen slow but steady returns from it. I didn’t want to be too scared and go for the safe ones so I have had good luck with it. It’s not for everyone I like how easy it is. Thank you for this video. I appreciate you bringing this up.
Hi, I need help in this acorn app I want to get into it by having some kind of savings because I like the dollar round up. Do you guys think it’s a good idea to buy the $3 dollar a month with dollar round up for the next 5+ years? Btw I’m a noob in investing just really Like the idea of the dollar round up thinking it’ll be good for me as a saving account?
If you stick with full aggressive then anything can happen. Not easy timing the market but if you pay attention you could have moved out of stocks in to the money market, it is paying about 5% . Full aggressive and you could be down another 20%
Is ur acorns acorns account an ira or regular investing account? Are you able to withdraw money from ur acorns right now theoretically and be charged fees or no?
I just use the taxable brokerage (aka regular) account. Here’s the tricky bit, even if you used an IRA you would be allowed to take money out whenever you want. It’s not until tax time that it could come back to bite you.
Hey I’m only 15 yrs old and wants to start early into investing. I work part time 15$/hr. Investing has caught my interest for a while now, so would you still recommend acorn for someone like me? Or is there other options to choose from? Btw I’m a total beginner in this so I have no idea
The best thing you can do for now is learn valuable skills to set yourself up for a high income in the next 5-10 years. As far as investing, you’re not legally allowed but maybe your parents could invest your money for you. A custodial account is meant for that kind of thing
You can’t legally trade right now. If you trust your parents, there is a Future feature on Acorns that 18+ people can invest in their kids. You could have your parents put your money in there for you and at least be getting some interest.
Kiddo you should aim for a 200k to 300k job first… then play with stocks with extra income. Go in tech or medical field. You have time but get through college quick and start working for a good company and save!!!!
Man if they add individual stock picks that would be amazing I’m only moderately investing because with this, 401k and stocks somewhere has to be lower and I decided acorns would be. However, if they add this feature I would add a little more in as I go.
I have thr moderate conservative and I'm getting a 7.4 % return even after accounting for the monthly 9 dollars app fee.. and almost 9% returns on the market alone. . I think i just picked the best option and the 7 best stocks at 5% each ..
Well duh you were buying when market was at all time highs 😆 if you are long term this will work out better for you when the market recovers .The 6k ypu will get back plus alot more if ypu are long term.
When others are fearful 😧 stay greedy! I am buying the blood 🩸 😈 😂. Great content. I started using Acorn in 2017 and forgot about the account. I redownloaded the account and was surprise to see there was money in it 😂 I should really check my bank statements more often 😩
“I chose the riskiest portfolio so acorn is to blame” wild.
By the way if you try to cancel your 3 dollar plan you can get acorns to suggest their acorns assist plan for 1 dollar for just the investing account. Its kinda hidden😕
@@iNotcid yeah did that too, it's better than just 3 a month with just round up
The whole market is down 13% for the year. What do you expect?
To be down 13% 😆😆

@Ronniem90 I think that’s probably accurate
@@BrendanEvan lmao
Interesting! On Acorns I'm set to moderately conservative and am down 11%. It felt painful til you said 21%, now not quite as bad lol
Ha, yeah I guess the pain is relative in that way!
Right behind you guys. I'm currently down 19%

Maybe I should make some M1 pies for people to easily copy when/if they switch! Good idea!
@@BrendanEvanYEAH!!! Do that! Please! That would help A LOT of people out and me in choosing their investments types of stocks!
@Brendan Evan my biggest concern with the 3 dollar fee is when I stop adding to the account, or stop working. That's when the fee will really hurt
A year or two ago, I used Acorns for a few weeks, but then I withdraw all my money because I didn't like the ambiguity over its stock choices.
Makes sense! Good thing that there are plenty of options out there!
@@BrendanEvan Your videos are great. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Did you pay taxes?

Yes not having control of what acorns picks..doesn't work for me

Yeah with low amounts the fee is far too painful to stand!
Exactly initially 1$ monthly increased now to 3$ monthly 😕
They offer ambassador program if interested to join and get some rewards from it …

I'm up 27% over 5 years with moderate aggressive - I don't understand your numbers assuming you made no withdrawals

Shouldn’t have done esg. I have 60,000 in acorns and my return is almost 7 percent ytd
