  • The Accor Sofitel Hotel at London Heathrow Airport Terminal 5 is a Luxury 5 Star Hotel situated on Terminal 5 Itself, with a quick 10 minute walk to & from Departures and Arrivals.
    I stayed here before an early morning BA flight to Central Europe and this is my review of a Sofitel Luxury Club Room, and the facilities at the hotel.

    Heathrow Terminal 5 is an airport terminal at Heathrow Airport, the main airport serving London. Opened in 2008, the main building in the complex is the largest free-standing structure in the United Kingdom. Terminal 5 is currently used exclusively by British Airways and was exclusively used as one of the three global hubs of IAG, served by British Airways and Iberia until 12 July 2022 when Iberia moved all flights to Terminal 3. I’ve stayed there a number of times. Found the room average size, but modern and comfortable especially the bed. My room service was good.
    Breakfast was decent.
    Very convenient to Terminal 5 flights

      The rooms and the hotel in general aren't quite as "5 star" as they were about 7 or 8 years ago. I suppose that's inevitable, unless they constantly spend a lot of money on refurbishing the rooms.

      The only problem is you don't really want to pay through the nose for a hotel room which you're not going to be using for long. I would stay at the Premier Inn at Terminal 4 instead if I had to leave the room early.

    This might sound a bit niche, but the only times I stay in an airport hotel is when I've an early connection the next day.
    A description of how well they handle wake-up calls would be interesting. For 5*, I'd expect a call from a real person.

    I stayed here once the night before going to Ireland. Dad got a pretty big discount through the Accor Live Limitless loyalty program.
    I had Guinea fowl for my dinner - I'd had that at a regimental dinner once when I was in the CCF while at school.
    There were two bottles of beer in the fridge (albeit Coors).

    I've stayed at this place a few times. I really liked it and the proximity to T5 couldn't be bettered!

      Have you been in the last 5 years? I think it's not quite as smart as it used to be when it first opened.

    Thanks for taking the time to put this together, have stayed at the Hilton before, I have considered staying here myself for an early flight, but quite pricy, then again so if everything at Heathrow! Looks ok, wonder what makes it 5 start over 4?

    Just stayed here for the second time, (first time was about 7 or 8 years ago). I wouldn't describe it as 5 star, it's more like 4 and a half stars. Not quite as smart as it was when it first opened in about 2008. The rooms look slightly tired, whereas last time I stayed here they still looked 100% new. There often seem to be queues at check-in, with lots of staff milling about in the background, not offering to help make the queues shorter. Also you used to be able to use the spa all day for £40. Now they're charging £30 just for one hour! About 6 years ago I actually paid £40 to spend all day in the spa even though I wasn't staying at the hotel because I thought it was worth it. £30 for one hour definitely isn't.

    The call themselves luxury but charge for the spa which is ridiculous.

      About 7 or 8 years ago the situation was that guests could use the spa for free and everyone else could pay £40 and stay all day if they wanted to. Now even hotel guests have to pay £30 just for one hour! That's a bit of a change over time. I actually paid £40 once to use the spa all day even though I wasn't staying at the hotel because I thought it was just about worth it. I was doing a bit of train and plane spotting around Heathrow and wanted somewhere to have a bit of a rest and relax while I was in the area. Very convenient.

    From the video, which was very informative, I'd give this hotel 3 stars max. The room looks average and no way 5 star quality which usually comes through in a good video.

      I think it was 5 star when it first opened in 2008, but it's certainly gone slightly downhill since then. The rooms at the Premier Inn at Terminal 4 are actually slightly larger in my estimation.

    No way a luxury room, who are they trying to fool. Luckily I don’t need to use a hotel when I fly from Heathrow.

    • @ajs41
      @ajs41 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The rooms are probably slightly larger at the Premier Inn at Heathrow Terminal 4. I agree about not being luxury rooms. This room is only slightly larger than the standard room I was staying at.

      @@ajs41 Of course it’s understandable that Airport locations aren’t exactly the places you would expect to find a genuine luxury hotel😊

    • @ajs41
      @ajs41 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, just take one of the trains from terminals 2 and 3 to terminal 5. Takes about 5 minutes, and then a 5 minute walk to the hotel. Just stayed there, and it isn't quite as top class as it was a few years ago. The rooms are starting to look a bit faded.

    I cant stand thise Nespresso machines. They are less friendly to the environment and make really small cups of coffee. I am glad they had a kettle.

    • @ajs41
      @ajs41 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's pretty much compulsory to have a kettle in a British hotel room. People would be outraged if it didn't have one!
