Tim Burton's attempt at making a Hammer film, underlined by Christopher Lee being the one who sends Ichabod to Sleepy Hollow is absolutely gorgeous and dripping with atmosphere. It's worth seeing just to appreciate the imagery. Also, it's my favorite Depp performance. I love how he turns Ichabod into a heroic fraidy-cat, especially his habit of ducking behind anyone else for cover. And at one point he's even using his kid sidekick as a human shield. Oh and Christopher Walken as the Horseman is all the recommendation you need to watch it!

Pretty cool idea to make Ichabod Crane a police constable instead of a school teacher in this version. It really adds a darker tone to the story. And Christopher Walken with sharpened pointy teeth was a great touch, too.

One of Burton's very best. Probably the perfect Halloween movie. The cinematography is like nothing I've ever seen before or since, successfully engendering a totally surreal look without making it seem artificial. This film has SO much atmosphere. The only real problem with it is that it wastes the character of Brom Bones. 38:01 - Her shorts were NOT nearly that short in Evil Dead Rise!

A hessian is a German from Hess, they were used like mercenaries because there just wasn’t a whole lot of opportunity in Hess. I think not sure but between battles they tried farming, but the mercenary gig was more lucrative. And the head lopping was because the sword and axe upon impact became as hot as the fires of hell instantly cauterizing the wound so the blood spray on the pumpkin doesn’t make much sense, so it may have been someone else who committed that murder impersonating the horseman.

I had the McFarlane Ichabod figure, but he was not very fond of staying upright: A situation that was not helped by the material starting to bend, not long after I got it. I wanted the horseman with tree but... oof, that was a chunk of change I couldn't part with, at the time. The black and yellow spiders in your fields are probably a breed of orb weaver from the argiope genus: The Black and Yellow Garden Spider. I can't stand spiders, but even I will admit that those ones are pretty chill. I have NEVER seen one inside my house, nor have I ever seen any even trying to come inside, which makes them okay by me, even if some of the females can get rather friggin' large as North American spiders go. As long as they stay outside, I'll keep up my end of the truce. They just hang out in the bushes or weeds, minding their own business and killing grasshoppers. They CAN deliver a bite on par with a bee (worse, though, if you're allergic), but they don't seem terribly aggressive.
