I love this movie too. I have a phobia of them too. Along time ago I watched Arachnophobia with my buddies and they loved the movie. I have to say for the 1st time watching the whole movie I actually liked it even more and I finally faced my fears with this movie. Except in real life though lol .
Eight Legged Freaks is still really fun. And the CG for the most part is decent enough for the kind of movie it is. It’s like an early 2000’s Gremlins.
Last physical I had, my doctor just put two fingers next to my junk and had me cough. Way less awkward. Thanks Doc. lol But as a kid in the 80s/90s there was definitely a fear of having our balls grabbed due to scenes like this. It was definitely a "thing" back then.
I slept on this movie for so long and only watched last year for the first time. It has some surprising performances in and has some really scary spider scenes. Spiders jumping at ya will always get me 😅
I was 6 years old when this came out. I still remember seeing the poster on the video store and the trailer on TV. I hate spiders and I loved this movie, scared the crap out of me. Such an early 90's classic.
So this is where The Collector(Juan Fernandez) first became fascinated with rare specimens. He’s the Dominican guy with Dr. Atherton in the beginning of the film.
This movie absolutely gave me irrational fear of spiders! Such a great movie though, and it's about time you gave it the VERY famous treatment. Great episode!
It’s true that spiders have an exoskeleton, it doesn’t make them prone to shattering upon impact from falls. In fact, their exoskeletons are made of flexible, tough chitin, which provides protection and some level of shock absorption. Because spiders are lightweight and experience relatively low terminal velocity, their bodies don’t hit the ground with enough force to cause them to shatter or break apart.
The first scary movie I ever saw. Was watching it with my family as a child, my dad leaves for a few minutes just to jump scare me. He used his fingertips to tickle my neck. I was so scared, I think that was the first time I swore. I didn't talk to him for two days. Aaahhh memories.
Frank Marshall and Jimmy Buffett were, in fact, long-time friends and worked together a bunch. Podcast: The Ride has covered a lot of Jimmy Buffett lore and Frank Marshall comes up repeatedly.
I watch this movie about 5 times a week. One of my staples! I have a fear of spiders, I thought exposing myself to this movie when I was a child would help with that. 30 years later, still working on that.. 5:08
The ball grab and cough is to check for inguinal hernias. The head turn is just so you don't cough in the Dr's face. For athletes like football players or wrestlers, it's common.
I used to have a pet house centipede. When they feed they wrap around their prey like a snake, and they spend hours each day cleaning every one of their legs.
When I was 12 years old I had to do the turn your head and cough while this man was cradling my testicles. It was so I could go to boy scout camp which wasn't all that fun also. As a result I have avoided the doctor unless it was for an emergency room visit for the last 20 years.😅
I rewatched this last month, and DAMN does it still hit hard. Goodman is the best! That end battle throws off the tone of the movie slightly, but it's still a blast. Great review guys!
These "Australian huntsman" spiders are everywhere where I live...and I'm still a little b**ch when I see one because of this film. Pretty dope they used our spiders
If you guys hadn't mentioned the orkin commercial prior, I would have fell victim to the spider bit. But in your defense, it did get me a little bit. Lol
The Mortician did a lot of things I seen. He was the head of "Recall" from Total Recall and he was on Star Trek Nextgen of the strategist in the episode Peak Performance
I remember watching this when i was a kid with my older sisters and their friends and while watching a daddy long legs was coming down from the ceiling and my mum saw it was like look a spider my sister be like yeah yeah after abit my mum was like no seriously my sister and one of her friends looked up and they quickly jumped all in all this movie was great shame theres going to be a remake
Wait, is that how the climax went? I haven't watched the movie in decades but everything in the first two-thirds came rushing back to me through the discussion, yet I could have sworn that Goodman died in Atherton's place and that Bridges found the body right before the final confrontation. Serious Mandela Effect, I guess. Anyone else?
Can you guys do an episode on Mary Reilly (1996)? To me it's the third entry in the 90s Gothic trilogy after Bram Stoker's Dracula and Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.
One thing that I always notice is that they say the spiders lack reproductive organs, but when they say this they are looking at a tarantula. If you've ever looked at one you'll notice they actually have ten legs; the front pair are used by males to deposit sp*rm in the female. Yeah, I'm a nerd... 😅
Tarantulas actually do touch legs during mating. The male then lifts the female up to expose the belly and then punches her abdomen repeatedly. Okay, he doesn't actually punch her, but that's what it looks like. 😂

"Where's the rest of ya..."
Best Spider horror movie. yet to be topped.
Best horror comedy eight-legged freaks
I have arachnophobia and I love this movie so much, I just squint during the spider scenes
I love this movie too. I have a phobia of them too. Along time ago I watched Arachnophobia with my buddies and they loved the movie. I have to say for the 1st time watching the whole movie I actually liked it even more and I finally faced my fears with this movie. Except in real life though lol .
Seeing John Goodman running around wearing a pesticide tank sprayer makes me wonder how he would've done as one of the Ghostbusters.
I think he'd be a good fit honestly!
True he would have bin great I say haha
... Surprised that never happened considering he was friends with Akroyd.
"AM I THE ONLY ONE AROUND HERE WHO GIVES A SHIT ABOUT THE RULES?"
@@JohnnyBurnes Well, they did Blue Brothers 2000 instead.
Spiders don't scare me, but beardless Tony does.
Eight Legged Freaks is still really fun. And the CG for the most part is decent enough for the kind of movie it is. It’s like an early 2000’s Gremlins.
John Goodman was the best character in the movie.
As a kid, I thought he WAS the main character.
Eight legged freaks is still good, i rewatxh it every year
FINALLY. Do you have any idea how many times I searched this title for no reason?
The "ball cough" is a check for hernias
Thought it was for prostate exams!
Tony got taken advantage of
Last physical I had, my doctor just put two fingers next to my junk and had me cough. Way less awkward. Thanks Doc. lol

OMG YOU GOT ME WITH THE SPIDER IN THE END YOU SOBS...that was good though, I looked up at my phone and my heart skipped a beat
I slept on this movie for so long and only watched last year for the first time. It has some surprising performances in and has some really scary spider scenes. Spiders jumping at ya will always get me 😅
Is it one you recommend?
@kdusel1991 for sure! A solid movie. Have rewatched and probably will again. And I have arachnophobia 😄
"That's right I'm big, I'm bad"
You should totally review Eight Legged Freaks Tony.

Thanks for the episode.
I haven't watched this movie in a long time. I always check my shoes and slippers for bugs before I put them on because of this movie.
I was scared to take a shower for a month after seeing this movie.
This movie absolutely gave me irrational fear of spiders! Such a great movie though, and it's about time you gave it the VERY famous treatment. Great episode!
Thank you Tony for constantly using character names when describing the movies. I wish some of the co-hosts would do the same. 😊
51:18 That was Family Ties. Vaguely remember seeing it on TV as a kid with the intro. As a kid it was, "Hey, Marty McFly is in this!"
Still love the hell out of this flick. Also Tony is quite handsome, nearly clean shaven.
Thank god for Hack the Movies!

I HAVE A SPIDER FEAR BECAUSE OF THIS MOVIE
I feel like this movie with the Dr Death thing came out before Kovorkian made headlines but they were pretty close. 80s/90s kid here. lol
THIMBS UP!!! Love the animation at the beginning countdown.
Ive never seen arachnophobia, except a few clips on tv when i was little. Ill be watching it tonight so i can watch tomorrow! Review Stay Alive (2006)
Speaking of Dr. Death: Jack Kevorkian. There was an HBO movie about him and was played by Al Pacino. You know who else was in it? John Goodman
Frank Marshall and Jimmy Buffett were, in fact, long-time friends and worked together a bunch. Podcast: The Ride has covered a lot of Jimmy Buffett lore and Frank Marshall comes up repeatedly.
The guy that's snacking is also in total recall
he also played an alien that data beat on star trek tng

My favorite TPB episodes all have Philadelphia Collins in them. BAAAMMMM!
The ball coughing things is to check for hernia, had it few years ago.
nice too see you got all the merch out after cinemassacre failed... are you still right next to Calldor or di that get bought by Blizzards too??
I used to have a pet house centipede. When they feed they wrap around their prey like a snake, and they spend hours each day cleaning every one of their legs.
I catch them when I find them & release them in my basement to help control the spider population.
You should look up the giant asian variety! Went down a rabbit hole mid-episode and now I want like twenty of them.
When I was 12 years old I had to do the turn your head and cough while this man was cradling my testicles. It was so I could go to boy scout camp which wasn't all that fun also. As a result I have avoided the doctor unless it was for an emergency room visit for the last 20 years.😅
The old lady that plays the original doctors wife is the same one Jerry steals the marble rye from in that episode of Seinfeld. 😃
I rewatched this last month, and DAMN does it still hit hard. Goodman is the best! That end battle throws off the tone of the movie slightly, but it's still a blast. Great review guys!
Such a good movie! Thank you for reviewing this!
Loved this review. I was obsessed with this film as a wee lad. Good job
Hell yeah love this movie John Goodman rules in this movie
I watch Arachnophobia a Month ago it’s really good i used to watch this movie a lot when i was a kid.
Remember the eye cake
Take a shot every time Tony calls Jeff Daniels, Jeff Bridges. lol
Eight legged freaks is awesome.
Who is this beardless stranger and what has he done with Tony?
This one is gold Tony, great movie!
These "Australian huntsman" spiders are everywhere where I live...and I'm still a little b**ch when I see one because of this film. Pretty dope they used our spiders
54:20 a longer scene of Goodman hunting backed by For Whom The Bell Tolls would have been epic.
Does anybody else remember a B&W version of this on cable?
It added a little more of a classic horror to it
If you guys hadn't mentioned the orkin commercial prior, I would have fell victim to the spider bit. But in your defense, it did get me a little bit. Lol
More TPB talk would be rad!
Hi Tim!!
The Mortician did a lot of things I seen. He was the head of "Recall" from Total Recall and he was on Star Trek Nextgen of the strategist in the episode Peak Performance
Tony, my man. Glad you finally got around to this classic, but I'm asking yet again - where is "Malibu's Most Wanted" review with Manny Muskets?
Jimmy Buffet also had a cameo in Hook (also co-produced by Marshall).
About time
😂😂😂 love that cg spider 🕷 over the screen
Dan Conner doing whatever it took to feed his family.
we need a children of the corn ranking lol
Tony's muscles are getting really distracting; i feel like this show is setting unrealistic expectations for mens' body health
this movie fucked me up more than any movie as a kid
Full circle moment
15:13 I'm not sure if all tarantulas do it, but the males do hold up the females front legs so they don't get merked while inseminating them.
Gross
Really just here to see how many people said it's to check for a hernia..
Wait, is that how the climax went? Ally McBeal is streaming on Hulu.
I'm not sure spiders die from falling so easily. Maybe Tarantulas, but even then I'm not so sure.
I saw a clip from a movie the other day that I haven't seen in over a decade and I'd love you to do a video about it, Ultraviolet with Milla Jovovich.
Sent this to Goodman and Frank Marshall.
Arachnophobia is backnophobia

Wait how does Tony somehow look less clean shaven without a beard 😆
I need to get used to seeing Tony with less facial hair.
I swear I didn’t even notice until I saw your comment. I was distracted by his outfit. Lol.
Me too! It's weird for him to not have a full beard!
@@kdusel1991 I think it was for his Halloween costume. I’m assuming the beard will be back!
Frank Marshall did Alive after this, not Congo.
Love this movie
john wick with spiders
Noice
This movie made me deathly afraid of spiders as a child. Do not show your young children this movie!
I agree with this 1000%
Eight Legged Freaks rules.
@25:52 Chekov's nail gun.
Tarantulas actually do touch legs during mating. The male then lifts the female up to expose the belly and then punches her abdomen repeatedly. Okay, he doesn't actually punch her, but that's what it looks like. 😂
Yes please...Eight Legged Freaks...for me was the Off beat humor in it..please revisit...
47:04 you're banned
Link to the hat, Tony
Tony we need A Video review for Russkies, Joaquin Phoenix "Leaf" " Chrismas story kid" fight Russia for us. might be before ur time tho.
Sure is
What if ET's alien race returned and they were all wearing cloths?
Dan Conner used to be pest control guy before he married Roseanne lol
Squeeze the balls and cough is to check for a hernia
Fire in the Sky eye stab scene is 😬
I thought John Belushi was dead.
What's he doing pretending to be Tony? 🤔
Where is the main host, Crystal? Bring her back! Bring her back! This is a travesty!
