Something that's really cool is when Pandit Banerjee starts going off on the tabla, he starts playing rupak in keherwa - he's effectively playing septuple meter at quadruple speed within what Western music would define as 8/4 time.

The beauty of Niladri Kumar is that he is able to play a string instrument to sound very close to the human vocal cords. There are artists who can play an instrument to a T and hit the notes to the most accurate level but it will still sound "Strings & Metallic" but he is able to make it sound close to human vocals... Like if a classical vocalist sings the same raag, then vocalists tends to finish the same notes in many different variations.. But when we use an instrument to imitate the same note, there are limitations against the human abilities. He amongst the few artists who can create those variations. Tabala can't be hit like drum, see that black round on tabala? Once I hit hard with my finger on it and that black thing just popped like rocket😂 that's the thing that allows tabala to get different sounds. On right side its Tabala on left drum is dekka, in Kerala that's the name😂... And we can adjust the tones there's few solid blocks around Tabala, by adjusting that its be done🙌.... Love you guys.. keep up... Come to India... Don't forget to bring the pretty good bro😂💖
the ultimate display of the mastery of sitar and table is the 1967 Monterrey festival performance by Grammy winning Ravi Shankar and Alla Rakha. Two absolute masters in a live performance that is one for the ages.
I've met Niladri ji in person, after his one concet... He is such a joyous and humble man... Seeing you reacting to them, really feels good... Keep it up guys...
Raags are the backbone of indian classical music..they are composed for different time period of the day... there is very famous tale that Tansen( taan-say-n) (mozart of india) could perform raag deepak(deepak literally means lamp) to such a perfection that it could actually heat up the whole surrounding and raag megh(megh literally means cloud) could cause rain....
FYI - I used to play the tabla and you really don't need to hit the tabla very hard to produce sound. Also, if you noticed each tabla has a black circle in the middle. That is not just for decoration, it produces different sounds depending on if you hit the black circle or the uncolored area outside or even the outer edge of the tabla.
An Ustad of any Indian classical music can make you forget your present, past and future and you will be like in an infinite loop of time! Power of Indian music and instruments...

Though I am not an expert but to me Sitar is the most unique instrument which can literally express pure human emotions.
Check out Sarangi.
Great stuff. He is playing the instrument in many different ways and showing what can be done with it. Sitar is a great instrument.

Manmohan Metha 😊👍🏼
the ultimate display of the mastery of sitar and table is the 1967 Monterrey festival performance by Grammy winning Ravi Shankar and Alla Rakha. Two absolute masters in a live performance that is one for the ages.

On my way to exam. And this is my stress buster 💛💛💛
Hope you did well.. All the best for the rest.. 👍👍👍
Rick is such a sweet Dad.

We have lot to Give the World, conditions are : 1.You should have the immense capability to Handle it.
2. Give credit to the sources. In India, our philosophy teaches, not to steal, rather just say Thanks to the Giver. That's all. 😊
