    I’ve been in this situation even if it wasn’t done so publicly. The huge amounts of passion without expressing love and then coldly denying it and acting as if you were crazy to believe that it was real. You can tell when someone cares. It’s for the best in the end because their true character is revealed and you’re saved from it. At the time, it can feel soul destroying, and it can impact every part of your life including your physical health. It’s also a powerful lesson.

    For some reason when she said "We are not engaged" I always have an urge to say "what?" and "It was everyday implied but never declared" I always have an urge to say "Oh Marianne!" and throw my hands up even though I know she didn't do anything wrong in this instance.

    • @shireads2954
      @shireads2954 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      But she did do wrong. She threw every rule of propriety and caution out the wind. She scorned the warnings of her sister and even her mother and made herself so transparent that all of London knew her feelings. What she did wrong was adamantly refuse to protect herself in any way from dissapointment, ridicule, or derision. Especially by Regency Era standards, she behaved quite badly.
      P.S. I am by no mean defending Willoughby and his villainy.

    Unfortunately, many go through this. Men and women. Part of life. That saying no rules in love and war is realistic even if it’s misunderstood. Of course it hurts but we have to accept it. What else can we do? We reject people as well as we get rejected. The most painful rejection is the one in love. Other things come and go but love is hard to find.

    • @yevgeniyaleshchenko849
      @yevgeniyaleshchenko849 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Please don't speak about war in the context of love, don't use this word lightly, you don't know what war really is. Secondly, you missed the point of the scene. It's not just about being ''rejected'', it's about being deceived, used and discarded. He traded her for money but what's worse is that he DENIED that there was ever something between them making her doubt her own perception, it's called gaslighting, and it's an insiduous thing to do. He didn't have the guts to break up honestly, instead he decided to paint it as their love/flirtation was just in Marianne's head. He discarded her like a toy, didn't even reject her.

    I feel like this had a crush on a guy at work and he looked intensely at me, smiled huge when he saw me, flirted with me, the others noticed it as well he pursued me at work, but never asked me out, he kept going back and forth between so warm and inviting, to cold and distant, he then quit wanting to talk to me for no reason other than he was in a bad mood, I asked him if he was ok, he made up a lie about me to our Supervisors and won't talk to me unless it is about the weather or hi and bye. I know he liked me, I know I didn't imagine it as the others noticed as well, so now I have to pass him on the hall with a wounded heart and not sure what to say as he will just turn me in if I try and talk to him in a deep conversation. I know I need to let him go, but it feels like it is not over and I want to know why, because I know there has to be more to it, I can feel him struggling with this choice he made, I'm an Empath, I know there is more but he won't tell me and that is what kills me everyday.

    She deserved it. She fell in love with him because the way Willoughby looked. Thats what happens when you fall in love based on appearance only.

      +Scotty Boy Well, if Brandon had only chose to tell Marian the truth about Willoby, then she wouldn't have fallen in love with him right away. Instead, Brandon told Elinor about Willoby because Elinor isn't stubborn enough to disbelieve anyone.
