Shilo Manitoba Canada back in 1987 , -75 Celsius or -105 with windchill at 3 AM. We were on a 2 week winter exercise and were pulled into tents due to the freezing temps, we were running M109's at the time which weren't shut down for the entire period due to fear the engine wouldn't fire after sitting in those temps. The truck is really looking good, keep up the great work.
I’m spoiled lately. Grew up in STL with brutal winters… last 3 years in Scottsdale AZ with my 15 LML that’s never seen snow. 45 degrees is her cold start. EZLYNK Tuned, full HSP overhaul down to the Y-Bridge, CP3, 7.5” on 24’s/38’s RDS 9 blade SET IT OFF!! I’m so grateful to be outta the cold. AZ original truck so not an ounce of rust.
I got a 5 year old Minnesota truck with holes starting . Now I have a California lb7. Basically rust free . Like Arizona. So much easier to work on without breaking rusty bolts etc. lol
@@Sellstufr most definitely. I was terrified of yanking passenger side up pipe from manifold and turbo pedestal bc of all the horror stories of bolt breakage…. Kroil sprayed on day before and everything came out like butter🤌🏼 I remember all my old trucks thru the years in STL…. Every one of them rusted out in the wheel wells.
Heyhey I live in Fairbanks , Alaska and drive a 5.0 Nissan Cummins . I use power service fuel suuplement and it starts everytime. The coldest I have had here is 54 below zero without wind. Take care
As far as lowest temps. The other night in PA where I'm at it got down to 15 degrees. My 6.7 cummins was not happy that day and she was plugged in too.
I farmed for many years. I had 7 now old diesel tractors. I recommend you put up a cheap large pole barn with electricity to keep those diesels in. This will keep your paint and rubber like new. I ran #1 fuel in the winter and always plugged the block heater in for an hour or 2 before starting any diesel. We had to use ether injection sometimes if they were away from electricity, even though I was reluctant to. About -30°F is the coldest I remember. Also, the ceramic radiant heaters are amazing in a shop and are very efficient.
-10°F here in north Idaho. -30 to a-35 wind chill. I think it lasted 3 days. My 7.3 did good really good. 6.0 parked in the garage though. 7.3 and the 6.0 have Coolant leaks over night. plugged the 7.3 into to the block heater the whole weekend though sitting. I tightened the lower radiator hose. Super cold.
I live in TN I have never seen temperatures in the negatives before my fuel gelled up and I used some diesel 911 to get it running again. Love the build the truck looks great I’ve got to say I really like the bed with the spacers on there to push the wheels out. You should definitely stick with the bullet hole wheels.
I've carried a payload of 2600lbs in the bed dozens of times and I've had BORA wheel spacers in the rear for 7 years. Zero issues. Torque, drive then retorque. Super simple.
I have loved watching you restore this truck! I dont live too far from the truck master shop and I think it would be cool to see one of your trucks driving around sometime. I almost feel bad skipping around these videos because you've worked so hard! Keep up the hard work! And the coldest I've ever seen is -50.
I'm a Cummins guy, but when I find a nice lbz, or lly I'ma buy one, been watching ur what to look for when buying a used Duramax, really helped me out.
Coldest I've ever started my LBZ was 17 after an overnight in ELY NV. I hated it, sounded like I was throwing a rod for first couple seconds. My CTS said trans was at 24. I let it warmup good because I was towing a loaded down 24' enclosed trailer to AZ. I keep it plugged in when it's cold in WA, but she's soaking up the sun while I spend the winter in Yuma , coldest high I've is 58 ,lowest 38. Cheers
Been watching you for years but just finally got back into an LBZ myself. Can't wait for some new videos. Hopefully youtube stops screwing you over so we can all move on one enjoy the content.
Hi truck master I find quite funny how you live up north and have a tail gate from a dealership in my same town from Greenville Texas joe Gibson my dad bought truck from them it was white 1500 hd 2003 . When I would his wash truck l will never forget going over an emblem just like that one I love watching your channel
Last week my battery froze at -42 Celsius over night, and I had them plugged in. My AGM battery was fine, thank goodness. I love these videos, makes my day. Or 4:20 am morning before work.
I live in Pittsburgh, Pa. All off last week it’s been in the low teens and negative degrees. My ‘05 60 F350 SRW gets plugged & Archoil in the oil & fuel so I don’t have worry about fuel. But she’s outside so knocking off snow to start her up is an issue. Love your videos & builds!
-65C with wind chill in December of 2022. I was trying to get a tractor going in that. Diesel dewaxed, and clogged up the fuel system. Tractor would start and barely with 0W40 oil in it, but I couldn't move it. Additives didn't help. Had to tarp it and use Kerosene heaters to heat the fuel and get it going. Mixed 15% gas into the fuel while it was hot to keep the wax in solution, and the diesel didn't freeze up again during that 2 weeks of cold.
Cold weather sucks. I lived in Minnesota, which is one of the coldest states in the USA. Now I'm in California . Expensive but like the nice weather year round.
06 Kodiak 6.6 central Indiana. Dipped below 0. Cold enough she'd high idle parked idling more than 5 minutes. Need to replace all glow plugs (none work just bought the truck a month ago) Started off and on block heater no problem. No additives. I fill up nearly daily. Wasn't happy off heater. But started none the less.
Just a note about the oil cooler and the Banks version being out of stock. You can simply purchase a stock L5P cooler. 2017-19 will retain the same filter even as the earlier trucks. 2020+ will require the new filter type. GM # 12732980 for the 17-19 cooler. Pair that with a Fleece elbow and some new longer bolts and you have the larger cooler and an updated elbow.
Originally from Florida basically my whole life moved to Dallas A few years ago. This past weekends weather was the coldest i have experienced and never knew about gel additives for the fuel. It finally started later that day went right to the part store and added the gel products. Wish i would watched this first..
The fuel I buy is Neste R99 Diesel and is good up to -4 degrees but I do add Amsoil all in 1 Diesel additive. The coldest we have been this years is 15 degrees but feels like 10 degrees now that’s very cold for the west coast. Lions over the Buccaneers this weekend 🦁
I remember when it hit 58 below 0 nothing that wasn't plugged in wouldn't start you couldn't even pull them to start them the greese in the rear end was so stiff the wheels wouldn't turn we had to drage them to the gas station push them inside to warm them up Pinedale Wyoming
Look into fiberglass Baja style fenders. Don’t lift truck very much and stuff some big tires with correct offset wheel under that thing. Then some Baja style bumpers and you would have an awesome looking machine.
Josh I’ve started a 2008 Chevy impala 3.5 v6 vehicle at a windchill of -55 degrees C which is a windchill of -67 degrees F with a battery blanket keeping the battery warm and the the upper rad hose warm the base temp was -42 degrees C which is -43.6 degrees F it sounded like the neighbors 2006 GMC 2500 HD 6.6 Duramax and his truck sounded like a farm tractor
Coldest my 20 L5P has seen is -48 ambient up here in Fairbanks, Alaska. Up here we have block heaters, oil pan heater, transmission pan heater and battery heaters. Never had an issue starting and never had my fuel gel up. Only issues I’ve had were the DEF heaters and leaking power steering lines.
Fuel normally freezes in the filter. Replacing the filter often works when frozen up. I have used gas in diesels for over 30 years 1 gal of gas for every 20 of diesel.
Back in 2005 it got down to -40 in without wind chill in ND, Me and the service manager cold started a new Dmax and it started. GM's big claim was it will start down to -40 unassisted. It did.
Fun video as always. I can smell the cold starts from here. Just a few days ago it was -38 at my house for 2 nights and that's not counting the wind chill exaggeration.
Last year in Maine I got my LB7 to start in -20. Had to be somewhere in an emergency and put a big bottle of diesel 911 in it brought the batteries inside for a bit to warm up and after a very long crank it fired up.
My L5P gelled up here in Texas. I did use anti gel, but I guess I didn't drive it enough to get it moving through the system. One thing I know it (Brutus) does not like the cold.
Oh and also, over in the West in Montana we had a cold snap come thru and it got down to -26 and that wasn’t even with wind chill I think it was pushing -50 below with wind chill a couple days. I didn’t even consider firing up my LML even tho she’s been plugged in and has plenty of treatment😂
I delt with my 6.4 powerstroke gelling once. That sucked. I replaced both fuel filters in the snow and then had to dump 911 in to the fuel and let it run for about half an hour. Never had an issue yet with my 6.7 cummins
Plug them up, WHEW! for a moment i thought the wheel spacers would mess up the stance, surprise me it make the "old school" wheel and tire combo look better. what late model bumper you put on the market place truck? in southside Virginia (US 58 hwy) the temperature can be a low of 4F in winter to 100+ in summer. i've had frozen fuel at 10F in a farm tractor that was needed for snow duty (yep, i had forgot to treat the fuel), pushed it in a heated shop with a torpedo heater aimed at it for several hours and the engine heater plugged in, put some 911 fuel treatment and fired right up.
-23 to -27 somewhere in their this last week here in northwestern Wis. my lb7 started but was grouchy! Good batteries and the right fuel then no problems at all!!
Spent all winter with my Mega cab 5.9 last year in Michigan, Minnesota and Ohio, couldn’t believe I never had a problem with cold starts and It was COLD last year lol 😂 no glow plugs with the grid heater delete
My 06 LBZ with R-99 Diesel with no additives and started right up in -10 temps last week. Doesn’t Gel up like #2 does. (I mean it does but doesn’t start until -20+)
Forgot to comment on the truck bed I absolutely like it it's so different than normal I love the way it makes it look can't wait to see it finished thanks for the awesome videos
God I love your videos. I watch mainly to learn about duramax. I'm an owner of a 2001 dodge 2500 w/cummins. I know I will probably get some hate. But I gotta say, the cummins dumpster is my favorite truck on your channel.😂 love that beast.
My truck gelled up over this last weekend had to replace the fuel filter, charge both batteries, put a half of a bottle of 911, and have the engine block heater plugged in. It’s an 06 lly aka the de-tuned lbz. It has 321k miles on her
My 06 zf6 detuned lbz hasn't had a problem, just did 8 glow plugs and I run prolab dbf4 in every drop of fuel it gets. Going to install an oil heater on the pan soon.
I had an 04LLY start to gel on me before While I was driving It was throwing low fuel pressure codes And then going into limp mode stopped at the tractor dealership along the way to where I was going all they had was K 100 D I put a bottle at that end within half a mile the truck was running perfect
hey how you doing! from Idaho its the same weather almost, I have a 3500 GMC dully with 330k year 2009,and since I bought this truck the engine light is on and went, to the dealership and they told me, need the fuel ingectors and then the pump, and they ask for to much money at front ,last they did not fix nothing, im saving some money to fixed it ,its my work daily transportation and I love this truck need to fixed right, im no mechanic, I try to learn from your videos, you are very honest Men, and a good mecanic I really thankful to watch your channel thanks my Name is Ramiro I like your last truck your building looks cool the bed you put on!
I had sketchy wheel spacers on my truck before I'm glad I don't run those wheel and tires set up anymore but if I had to go back to the setup I did I wouldn't drive it on the road almost wreak the truck with 47s tires k10 1985 square body chevy
I saw a quadrasteer the other day! First one I've ever seen in person he was pulling into an Ace hardware and the rear steer worked thought I'd share haha
Hey Trackmaster, I recently picked up a 2007.5 LMM and it just feels really sluggish. Bought the truck pre-tuned it rolls quite a bit of black smoke. It just doesn’t feel like I’m getting the full potential out of the truck.
Josh, get an Airlift coolant filling set up. It will change your life for filling everything cooling system you have. Never have to worry about air in the coolent again Finds leaks b4 you fill, it also so saves you time. Fills by vacuum look it up and purchase one. Works awesome with vehicles with rear heat.
Yep, I lost a rear driver side wheel tire and spacer all in one in Livonia last year. Heard a little grinding for a split second then 2 seconds of truck rear end hoping and then that tire wheel and spacer skipped on by up right into the concrete median barriers and thank God it missed 3 semis and tons of other cars that flew past it on its way to the final hop lol it was a LONG night that night………. The lug nuts came loose on the spacer and had ONE still half way connected…. Ended up stripping the oem stud completely all the way down as it got ripped out from the hop…………
I live a couple of towns away from you and it’s been so cold and hard on my truck that I make my living with driving on these roads covered in snow and salt
Love you videos! Just did Head gaskets on my LML following your guide. Ended up doing full PPE Manifolds, Up-pipes and 66mm turbo (9blade of course). Made me fall in love with my truck again.
I love this bed choice, and the wheel spacers seem to work. Maybe find the same front fenders from a quadra steer truck. the flares dont .... match, or something. I guess I should see what the quadrasteer truck has for front fenders before my comment... but those fenders you have seem like they came off a different truck now.
Coldest it’s gotten here so far is 15F. Pretty cold, but not that crazy. I use T6 5W-40 and Hot shots secret edt winter and my LBZ starts no issue everytime
I have to live through you. There is no way I could afford most the stuff you do to your trucks. Shoot I'm scared I won't be able to afford to change my injectors. Great videos.
That was a lot of cold starts. I thought it was fun to watch. I have also considered the bank's LP5 oil cooler upgrade. An install video for that on the truck master garage channel would be awesome. I did the water pump on my LLY and ever since the coolant bypass tube where it connects to the oil cooler has a small leak. Josh what would you suggest I do to fix it? Probably take the oil cooler off and replace the seal on the bypass tube?
It was -40 last saturday here in Montana. What year is that black dodge? I bought a new 2001 ho 6 speed back in the day. Had it for 10 years. I keep my stuff mint, sold it in like 5 minutes after I listed it. Must say I don't miss that noisy thing.
It was -31 without windchill in Finland Mn today, started up no problem, never plugged in. The ol Lbz can take the cold, just not this salt😥 when I had a Cummins with a lift pump it always gelled. Needs the heater kit on the lift pump or a heater sleeve for the fuel filter.
Wow Josh did not know you had an lmm I absolutely love mine I've owned it 1 yr now and so far no issues whoever owned it before me babied it the truck is absolutely mint condition it tows my toy hauler very nice getting ready to use it to tow across country from socal to Florida I'm moving there love the channel best Duramax channel out there for sure thanks!!!!!
Oh I was thinking I didn't remember you owning one since the red one you had! I looked for 1 yr for a clean Lbz they were either wore out work trucks or way overpriced for a nice one I bought my lmm from you having that red one I remember it was beautiful and my sister has one it's bitchen my truck is awesome I love it lol

Always a good day when Truck Master posts a video

My truck gelled up over this last weekend had to replace the fuel filter, charge both batteries, put a half of a bottle of 911, and have the engine block heater plugged in. It’s an 06 lly aka the de-tuned lbz. It has 321k miles on her
Same boat man my LBZ gelled up. Waiting for the fuel filter to show up. I put a CAT filter on mine.
Exact same for me. Even with anti gel, plugged in. Used a full bottle of 911 but next day it was totally fine
I have a question I have a 2012 lml duramax and when I get on it it has a rattle under the hood and I can’t figure out what the sound is
My 06 zf6 detuned lbz hasn't had a problem, just did 8 glow plugs and I run prolab dbf4 in every drop of fuel it gets.
Hi Josh -30 in central Illinois good thing I have heaters on my fass system I didn't have any problems last weekend.
Good stuff!

Thanks for sharing your story on the Dually! You got this, be patient and get it done right.
@TruckMaster thanks ,and if you sell your truck, let me know. I really need a good truck so I can get still do my work !
I had sketchy wheel spacers on my truck before I'm glad I don't run those wheel and tires set up anymore but if I had to go back to the setup I did I wouldn't drive it on the road almost wreak the truck with 47s tires k10 1985 square body chevy
I am always looking forward to the next vid as soon as these end! Lol great content brother!
I appreciate that!
Over here in alberta we had - 43° -52° with the windshield
It was down to -24 and lower without the wind chill. With the wind chill we had -56. My truck was not happy. I live in North Dakota
I saw a quadrasteer the other day! First one I've ever seen in person he was pulling into an Ace hardware and the rear steer worked thought I'd share haha
Nice 👍
Hell ya brother!!!! Looks so awesome man!!!! The flared out fenders for the front? No way man looks way to good the way it is!
I was just searching to see if you've posted a video yet. Lol. Perfect timing !
Perfect!
Hey Trackmaster, I recently picked up a 2007.5 LMM and it just feels really sluggish. Bought the truck pre-tuned it rolls quite a bit of black smoke. It just doesn’t feel like I’m getting the full potential out of the truck.
Change your fuel filters air filter also clean your MAF sensor I would start there first 👍
Canadian -45 tip. Run t6 5w40 in your 6.0 over winter lol it would've started ni problem. 😊
Way to go. Nice job . She's looking good . Love that style . Those spacers look awesome. ❤❤
Thanks 👍
Polar vortex in wisconsin a few years ago I think it was like negative thirty I don't really remember but it was way too freaking cold I know that
Josh, get an Airlift coolant filling set up. It will change your life for filling everything cooling system you have. Never have to worry about air in the coolent again
Finds leaks b4 you fill, it also so saves you time. Fills by vacuum look it up and purchase one. Works awesome with vehicles with rear heat.
Maddox brand at harbor freight 79$ same thing.
Ended up stripping the oem stud completely all the way down as it got ripped out from the hop…………
good work bro!! thanks for sharing.
Josh the lug nut torque for your Duramax trucks is 140 foot pounds of torque up to 2018 2019 is 140-150 foot pounds of torque
Nice work!
Please do an instructional video on how to replace glowplug #4 when you do them!
Coldest it’s gotten here so far is 15F. Pretty cold, but not that crazy. I use T6 5W-40 and Hot shots secret edt winter and my LBZ starts no issue everytime
I bought the upgraded banks oil cooler. Highly recommended. It’s good stuff.
Man first video of yours I’ve seen, love the fleet of trucks you have
Welcome aboard!
Truck looks really good with the wide bed and the spacers on the wheels🥰
Looking so good bro...fun video! Thank you, the beard was looking good should have kept it. Lol
mishimoto sells a rebuild kit with ALL the seals, did mine one day after school my senior year with a good group of buddies hasn’t leaked since!
I love that the complete cold LMM started faster than the cummins in a heated garage
I think it looks fine, good job Josh that's going to be a awesome truck
I have to live through you. There is no way I could afford most the stuff you do to your trucks. Shoot I'm scared I won't be able to afford to change my injectors. Great videos.
That was a lot of cold starts. I thought it was fun to watch.
I have also considered the bank's LP5 oil cooler upgrade.
An install video for that on the truck master garage channel would be awesome.
I did the water pump on my LLY and ever since the coolant bypass tube where it connects to the oil cooler has a small leak. Josh what would you suggest I do to fix it? Probably take the oil cooler off and replace the seal on the bypass tube?
mn last wk -15 cold start on my 97 7.3 not plugged in. hell of a cold start
-22 wind chill - 38 here this past week in good old South Dakota
Love that lb7 build now yall need to get some 6.5l diesel content
It was -40 last saturday here in Montana. What year is that black dodge? I bought a new 2001 ho 6 speed back in the day. Had it for 10 years. I keep my stuff mint, sold it in like 5 minutes after I listed it. Must say I don't miss that noisy thing.
It was -31 without windchill in Finland Mn today, started up no problem, never plugged in. The ol Lbz can take the cold, just not this salt😥 when I had a Cummins with a lift pump it always gelled. Needs the heater kit on the lift pump or a heater sleeve for the fuel filter.
Wind-chill doesn't effect trucks
@@bieniek56I just said without windchill because some people might think that I hyped up the numbers by adding it in to sound colder.
That one isn’t mine but I’ve owned two LMM’s and I absolutely love them
Oh I was thinking I didn't remember you owning one since the red one you had! I looked for 1 yr for a clean Lbz they were either wore out work trucks or way overpriced for a nice one I bought my lmm from you having that red one I remember it was beautiful and my sister has one it's bitchen my truck is awesome I love it lol
