As long as you approach this as a new band, you'll love it. Stop complaining about the past and give this whole album a listen through. I guarantee you'll love it.
That's the only way to put it ... a new band. I feel like they should have changed the name. No point in complaining... is just another band now... Can't say i'm happy that i'll never hear this band with line up of "Relativity" time period.
Mark Priss Changed their name? Why? Because they got a new singer? Evolved? It's like Bradley said, when you go through puberty, do you change your name?
Vincent Gilmore Look i am not going to have an argument with you. I said what i said. In my eyes they have not matured... alright? It's the opposite, they dumbed down their sound and everything that was unique about them. Also they have 3 new members, so it's not just a singer that has changed. You can say whatever you like but this is how i feel about this band now.
If you are arguing who is better, Jonny or Brad, then you are missing the point. Its all about the music! Who cares about who is better. They are two different singers, Both are very talented for sure! Music isnt a sport, its an art,
derek motta At the end of the day, it's all opinion...so anyone who thinks their opinion is greater than anyone else's is pretty stupid. I said it before and I will say it again. Emarosa has taken NO losses at all. Every version of this band have been really great.
Jeremy Jefferson Same and briman224, not really. The people who made the band are the ones who put it together and Jonny was not an original member, so.
Emarosa Fan Original Emarosa was great, Jonny made them even better, in my opinion, but I fucking love his voice and love just about every other project he was apart of... like his solo shit, Dance Gavin Dance, Isles & Glaciers, etc. This shit just sucks compared to Emarosa's old stuff. I could see how it would be appealing to someone who was never into old Emarosa, but this new shit is completely devoid of anything that made them great in the past.
***** I'm sorry, I don't think I comprehend. Since when is radio play a bad thing? There are plenty of bands who've had air play and haven't gone to shit. Think the Used back in '04, Enter Shikari in '06. Plus, it would add some quality to the standard playlists. People will check out the rest of their music, and if they actually like it, it will most likely draw people to other music in our scene. I see no problem with this at all.
Ray Slavenburg Ray Slavenburg Most of the time when bands go mainstream they sellout to become more popular and neglect their older fanbase, people don't just waltz in and discover Emarosa, most of them love underground music because they are sick and tired of popular music, to be honest I've seen few bands sticking to their roots after their 2nd or 3rd album, especially not a Rise band
In my opinion this is one of, if not, the best album of 2014 so far. I love their new sound. Not just Bradley, but the whole band. Bradley has this on point. But did you know the Miss Fortune vocalist tried out for this band and didn't make it? Imagine how different Emarosa would've sounded. I'm happy he didn't make it though. Miss Fortune signed to Sumerian and put out a masterpiece, and Emarosa did the same.
It's not a bad song at all. But HOLY FUCK, I'd bet it was One Direction or some weak new boy band. I'm not even joking. Comparing this to any other emarosa song is laughable.
People my age (20 somethings on up) vs the younger kids (19 and younger). We all seem to love the mature, evolved sound, the kids just want breakdowns and scene singers.
I've met 15 year olds who care more about inspirational music and so forth, just as I've met 20+ year olds who find this in what we perceive as "breakdowns" and "scene" and vice versa. Music isn't a place for judgement. It touches everyone in different, meaningful ways.
Bradley Walden on their track I'll just wait: "This song was written in about five minutes. I stepped into the vocal booth, started singing and broke down. This is by far the most emotional track on the record for me. Essentially, I rambled in the studio, the lyrics were immediate, and remain unchanged. There’s such a raw emotion in it. It’s simply about losing a love-the love-and waiting to get it back".
Great to see a band mature over time .. Every song is well structured you can understand everything of which is sung verses and choruses are so strong.. Jonny would just improvise and nothing ever really hit you until maybe a chorus .. I don't see why a song like The past should stay dead should ever be played again .. Its only a big opening note people like .. This whole record is a step up start looking forward rather than back..
You're fucking dumb man. I loved every song on Relativity. The lyrics were great, the emotion that was put into every song could be felt. Their new stuff is just bland
briman224 At the end of the day they step up each record the self titled album stands out compared to relativity.. Yet again it's all opinion whatever you like you like.
So you understand that they wanted some cliche "cause I miss you" song on the radio so they can get some exposure as a pop band and not Emarosa, the true Emarosa. It's hilarious when all these teenage girls search Emarosa after this single and end up at Relativity.
ME! I wish I'd took this route earlier ;_________; I listened to defeat the low a lot, then I went to then cause I heard them at the end of their song now I'm going on ahead
Say what you will. New Emarosa isn't the same as the old Emarosa. But what hasn't changed? Okay yeah there's some that haven't really. But it's a new singer. Which means a new sound, and a new start. I come to LOVE the new Emarosa. Just as much as I loved the old. Keep up the good work guys. Don't worry about what the negative people have to say. Just keep doing what y'all doing baby!

People need to shut the fuck up, bands evolve and grow. I'm so proud these guys got themselves out of the fucking gutter after JC left and wrote an insane record with a humble and amazing new vocalist. #persistence
Emarosa (with JC) is better than Emarosa (today) although i'm not saying that this album sucks or is bad. This song is simple but i like it the way it is. :)
I love this album but this is not the track I'd pick to try to grab mainstream, it's kinda sleepy and repetitive (and not in that good big sing-a-long chant type of way). But everyone looks great and I hope word of mouth keeps pushing this album because it's so good. So SO good.
im not saying that this is more mature than the other stuff that rise has released im just saying that the band grew up and should move on to different things other than rise.
jacob aldstadt "im not saying that this is more mature than the other stuff that rise has released" well, if this is the case then why should they move on?
I cannot be the only Emarosa fan loving this album. Yeah, Jonny is gone. Brad is in. Yeah, it doesn't sound like their old stuff. They're older and more mature now. Bands progress. Every single band shifts. Look at Matchbox 20. Every album was different. This is album is beautiful, but you guys seem too stuck in the past to enjoy what it is. Just because it doesn't sound like the old Emarosa (even way back with Chris) doesn't mean it still isn't the same band. Their riffs and melodies are still very similar. Their lyrics are just as emotional and engaging as they were before. This is just softer. Enjoy it.
Totes agree. At least Bradley isnt a dick like Johnny, which i feel hurt the bands hes been in. I met Bradley at this year's warped tour and it was awesome, they are good live and no one is showing up to shows asking about stolen money for a mac book......*all shade*
+Tony Marinilli I love Brad's voice but this album doesn't feel "mature", besides this song and maybe one other it feels bland and uninspired. They just sound like a less talented version of Hands Like Houses. I really hope Bradley finds finds another band that can better support his sound. I'm sure changing a guitarist and drummer on top of changing the vocals before this album is also a contributing factor to the different sound. It really isn't the same band anymore.
Im just on a little adventure: First i was just listening to sws Which lead me to Defeat The Low Which lead me here and now i heard another song at the end that imma go find soooo ✌
Emarosa is such a beautiful band. Versus is probably one of my favorite albums of all time. I feel like Bradley was the perfect addition to this band. I love them all over again. Back when I first heard them when I was 14 and now that I'm 21, this is just perfect. I can't even describe how much growth they've had over the years.
You know, I don't seem to comprehend the thought of them "changing their name". I mean, so what they changed their sound? Bands are allowed to do that, last time I checked. I thought bands made music THEY wanted to make, since it's their band. They seem happy with what they're doing, so it seems fine. I do recall Bradley, the new singer, saying something along the lines that when you go through puberty, you don't change your name, do you?
Wait. How does this sound like The Script or Bastille at all? Bastille uses a primarily synth based sound and The Script favour piano medleys with faint licks of four chord riffs and massive drum pieces (despite their new album being sub-par). Whereas Emarosa deliver your rather standard alternative rock performance tinged with a lot of emotion and rather soulful yet edgy vocals. Three great bands, but different sounds completely. Versus is possibly one of the best albums of the year due to the sheer beauty of it. Go listen to "Cliff Notes".
Craig Roxburgh Apparently you didn't get my point. Never said new Emarosa and The Script or Bastille was totally identical. It was to illustrate my point. I sure will, I have high hopes for Versus. Do you know why their drummer and their guitarist left after they recorded Versus? The band seems like they don't wanna tell us (fans)
No comment was passed to journalists either. Possible that they weren't too happy with the current progression of the band - same thing happened to Chiodos,
Craig Roxburgh Nah, Chiodos kept their roots more on Devil. Don't you think? I checked out wikipedia, the story is out now btw. Rhythm guitarist went back to school, and drummer went to pursue modelling. Kinda weird to do that just after the album release.
Hakmexul I'm guessing that's just an alt. to hide the whole truth.. Nonetheless I still love Emarosa, it's been 4 years since their self titled album...
I hate to be negative, but this was a lame video for an amazing song. Was totally blindsided about this album, was ready to rip on it because no Jonny but its a damn fine album. Relativity will always hold a special place in my heart, the music the time, but this new album is amazing in its on way. Well done guys
God I am about to break down, I still miss her so much.... god dammit i would give anything to go back in time and tell myself to be a bigger man for her, she was so important to me and I lost her cause I was a child... aaahhh....T.T
Really good song, but I think the same like too much people, the new Image of the band is so bad, they look like one direction style in that balcony lol
he can, I saw them in concert when he first started. it's not quite the same as when Jonny is singing them but it's not bad. think of it as like a cover
If you want to hear new music it would really mean a lot to us if you could check out our band Defy You Stars! We take a lot of influence from Emarosa, Pvris, All Time Low, Panic! At The Disco, and more. We are dropping our new album in march, music is our passion and we just want as many people as possible to hear us!
I really liked the new sound, it has a great potential but come on... at least change your name. I mean am I gonna be listen THIS IS YOUR WAY OUT and then this and realize it is the same band? for real?
ian h Oh I've listened and he's not nearly as bad as I thought he would be. I just saw them when they toured w/ Chiodos and I can't remember the last time someone, who was the singer of a widely popular band, was that awful. He was more into playing w/ the crowd than singing the songs. The album definitely isn't as bad as I thought, again..... but even if it was great, I definitely wouldn't spend a dime to see them again lol
Personally I absolutely love the new sound as well as the old, and brad... He is a really really talented singer, just as good as jonny, but on a different level. I love it and the video is great! Keep it up guys!
Wow i actually really like this. It seems like a lot of people don't but its really solid, mature and true. Also it seems like they're really doing what they want!
I don't get the comparisons either because current Paramore sounds like a ton of other bands and Paramore have gone through a few different "sounds/eras" so really /which/ Paramore sound are they even talking about? I don't hear it... other than the radio friendly aspect, but being radio friendly isn't singular to Paramore either so...
Jadiel Alvelo I don't see the point of your comment. It's not like they are signed to a major label. And their previous stuff was nothing like what i hear on the radio... even though they were signed to a label for their first 2 releases.
ian h Well, there was no structure in old Emarosa songs. I didn't say, "new Emarosa is better," or "this singer is better." Every song on "Versus" is well thought out and was clearly approached from a composer's standpoint. JC vocals sound like he literally made them up on the spot, and that is his charm for some, but not for me. I like to be able to hear the effort that the songwriters put into making a song a cohesive piece that resonates with me emotionally and doesn't just have an amazing opening line and then drop the ball for the remaining 3 minutes.
Tyler Lawhorn the thing i love about jonny the most is the amazing live performances he gives. you may think the stuff was made up on the spot but if you hear him live.. goddamn. he does it even better than the recordings. that's what counts the most to me.
Still struggling with myself... I miss the slight funk of the former records. But it's a good substitute when you're waiting for a new Jimmy Eat World record.
I don't think this is the place to dwell on the past such as how good Emarosa used to be or whatever. They are a new band now with a new sound , and commenting on their new material about their old stuff isn't going to change anything. This is a place to leave an opinion about their new sound not what they sounded like 7 years ago.
As long as you approach this as a new band, you'll love it. Stop complaining about the past and give this whole album a listen through. I guarantee you'll love it.
That's the only way to put it ... a new band. I feel like they should have changed the name. No point in complaining... is just another band now... Can't say i'm happy that i'll never hear this band with line up of "Relativity" time period.

briman224 To each their own I guess then.

Am I the only person who can hear this song on the radio? Just wondering
Its called a single. Thats why they used this song not People Like Me, We Just Don't Play which would of been fucking sick.

So there's gonna be another video!?
funny you mention that, i am a radio dj and am about to play it.
Nope, totally thought out of all the songs they've done. This one would be the radio hit! More so now then back then upon release.

hmm weird opinion, last time I checked Silverstein, OM&M and even MMF were at least 5 times bigger than this band and they're on rise..

Bradley is also so good at vocals!
I guess music videos go better with the slower songs but I found this to be the most mediocre song on the album lol. Still good tho and a decent vid.
I agree almost any other song woulda been better
Came from If I'm James Dean, You're Audrey Hepburn (Sleeping With Sirens), to Aurora Avenue (Defeat The Low), to this
You know, I don't seem to comprehend the thought of them "changing their name".
Emarosa Chris Roetter = Pos hc great fuckk!!
Emarosa J. Craig = Pos hc Diva/melody
Emarosa turned into that boring Bastille/The Script kinda sound. Aw man. I'll give the album a chance though. Been a fan for a long time.
Nonetheless I still love Emarosa, it's been 4 years since their self titled album...
god, don't look at me while singing such a beautiful song..
I find it funny how a band isn't allowed to change their sound without getting hate now days... Funny, and a little sad.
Só falar uma coisa a banda e perfeita, mais eu já tô de saco cheio dessas merda de propaganda de quase 1 min puta que pariu ...
Not as good as The Past Should Stay Dead, but it's alright.
ikr.
Every song on this album is a masterpiece.
This is totally not the Emarosa i loved but its ok... things change hope u will make ur way!
Just jumped from "This is your way out" album to this and holy fuck.
Really good song, but I think the same like too much people, the new Image of the band is so bad, they look like one direction style in that balcony lol
They should have change the band's name. It's not the Emarosa we knew. unless this new vocalist can sing the old Emarosa songs.
he can, I saw them in concert when he first started. it's not quite the same as when Jonny is singing them but it's not bad. think of it as like a cover
If you like this song check out Forget It by Breaking Benjamin ^.^
Anyone else think the vocalist Bradley Walden looks like a scene version of Chris Pratt?
Lol at all the Tryhards who complain about the new Emarosa
And I'm just here jammin. :)
Grow up and get over yourselves.
Forgot all about them. Happy to see them again ❤
emaros is emarosa
it's not jonny craig
he has a new band called "Slaves"
if you want JC go listen to Slaves
are you joking m8? there's still relativity and s/t if we want to hear jonny.
Come to Brazil \o
*****
tomara não abra kk
Sì..?
ola marilene
I really liked the new sound, it has a great potential but come on... at least change your name. I mean am I gonna be listen THIS IS YOUR WAY OUT and then this and realize it is the same band? for real?
I like the way Emarosa sounds now, sucks that Johhny Craig is gone doing his thing with Slaves ( which I love) but the new singer is not bad at all
bruhhh, "johhny" :(
I don't like how the singer moves, he seems like he's trying too hard
Are we not going to talk about the belt and suspenders……
KidbehindACamera's Tweet Brought me here.... he needs to be punched.
Good, now he can stop butchering Johnny's songs at shows. He's a TERRIBLE live singer.
give him a shot. he's not as good as jonny's and should stick to his own songs though ;P
ian h Oh I've listened and he's not nearly as bad as I thought he would be.
Bob Phillips fair enough. i like some of the songs. but who knows, maybe he'll get better in time!
If you're going to say this is repetative, you need to go listen to the radio for an hour.
Man remember when Emarosa wasn't a generic hipster band....
This Is Your Way Out
Considering TIYWO was the most generic thing they ever released?
Epoch Coda It was a good song..
screamxblur I guess you could say the song was...EPOCH? XD
That just made you sound like a 'generic hipster'
You do realize Chris Rotter was the vocalist then right?
Personally I absolutely love the new sound as well as the old, and brad... He is a really really talented singer, just as good as jonny, but on a different level. I love it and the video is great! Keep it up guys!
Wow i actually really like this. It seems like a lot of people don't but its really solid, mature and true. Also it seems like they're really doing what they want!
Use to listen to these guys before they became famous. I have to say I dig this song. I think I'm going to be purchasing this album tonight.
the hipsterism in this video is astounding. song is mediocre imo.
Embarosa was amazing before Johnny joined the band.. And dance gavin dance was amazing with him in the band
All you people hating on this in comparison to "old emarosa" give them a chance. Listen to "A Hundred Crowns" and tell me that isn't 10/10.
huge fan of this album. really like this track as well! not really seeing the paramore comparisons that people have made on the other tracks though!
similar chord progressions, instrumentation, both are radio-friendly, etc
rzutr fehgtr suppose my comment is based on someone who knows nothing about the technical aspects haha! would agree its radio friendly however!
I don't get the comparisons either because current Paramore sounds like a ton of other bands and Paramore have gone through a few different "sounds/eras" so really /which/ Paramore sound are they even talking about? I don't hear it... other than the radio friendly aspect, but being radio friendly isn't singular to Paramore either so...
meh
The new vocalist looks like Jonny. WTF
I absolutely love this song!!! A lot of people are comparing to Jonny Craig! He was phenomenal! But this guy, I absolutely love!!
Emarosa is going to be just fine
I love it. Its beautiful and really haunting. But when did emarosa become Coldplay and Silversun Pickups lovechild?
I really like this. It reminds of the Dashboard Confessional days. Good song guys.
well yeah. This is mainstream material right here. And unfortunately it's not for me. I guess i lost what used to be one of my favourite bands... ='|
Exactly.
He is a great singer, but I fear that this comment might be true for me well
The fact that your talking that way about a band THAT IS SIGNED TO A RECORD LABEL amuses me.
Jadiel Alvelo
I don't see the point of your comment. It's not like they are signed to a major label. And their previous stuff was nothing like what i hear on the radio... even though they were signed to a label for their first 2 releases.
It's just one song...
I'm sorry but you guys are nothing without Jonny
Always loved Emarosa (:
Its good to look at your past, but not stare at it because you'll end up staying there.
This new Emarosa is amazing
The music is so much better from a composition standpoint. Jonny fanboy or not, I don't see how anyone can argue that.
nah. not per se. for you, yeah. for me? nah.
ian h Well, there was no structure in old Emarosa songs.
Now go back and listen to the first album "This Is Your Way Out". See the difference. Love the song though
looks like jonny craig gained 100 pounds
hahahahaha i know right? this guy's a bear
I'm so glad you guys finally found your voice. So damn glad you're back.
Still struggling with myself...
I miss the slight funk of the former records. But it's a good substitute when you're waiting for a new Jimmy Eat World record.
Mainstream takes yet another good band.
I found this song because a girl i onced knew died 6 days ago from Oding. and this is on her playlist. RIP shelby newkirk
I don't think this is the place to dwell on the past such as how good Emarosa used to be or whatever. They are a new band now with a new sound , and commenting on their new material about their old stuff isn't going to change anything. This is a place to leave an opinion about their new sound not what they sounded like 7 years ago.
Whoever these are, They sound good to me, Bands always try different things anyways, Its part of the music world... Good song tho ^_^
I miss their old drummer he was so unique
Emarosa just stepped up their game big time this album.
