There's this wonderful interview where they talk about how they used to go to clubs and when their songs would play they'd "dance our robot dance"... and they where always disappointed, 'cause nobody would join them and the floor would die instantly. Three decades later this is the core of what keeps a floor going.
maybe he even has it? after the england shows, fritz significantly reduced the use of live drums. 1993 onwards, the drum pads disappeared from his console and control drum beats with a sequencer.
I can never quite get over how good they are. It's almost eerie. The most cutting edge electronic dance music I hear today, some 30 years after they developed Numbers, sounds... well, it sounds almost exactly like this. And it's not in any nostalgic, "Back in the day", "Remember the 80's" kinda way. It's in a "This is the new progressive shit and half of you won't even get it" kinda way.
I was at this gig. The things I remember where that they started at exactly the time stated on the ticket, the sound was fantastic - not compressed as this sounds - crystal clear and powerful. I remember this fondly.
I was lucky enough to see them earlier this month in Manchester and these tracks were part of their 3D visual show in the 2nd half of the gig. It doesn't matter when you've seen them, in whatever decade, it will always be a privilege to see the legends of electronica in my opinion.
At least you can tell it was played live back then (the numbers do not work at the start). Brilliant. Probably the best Electronic track ever made (well along with Are Friends Electric?)....
Florian forgot the numbers, Fritz reached over and helped out. Fernando is next to Ralf and was playing all lead melodys, he was not involved in this little accident.
I was at this Sheffield gig all those years ago and if i remember correctly, 95% of the audience were glued to their seats for the whole gig !!! was a strange venue for them to play !!!
@KeepWerking It's a consequence of the technologic development, which Kraftwerk is conceptually bound to. They spent all that time pioneering digital music with sampling in tracks like Boing Boom Tschak and use of plug-ins in Soundtracks, but by the time they'd digitalized their material and sold off their old gear, the world had realized that digital wasn't the end-all-solve-all of music production. There's been a substantial move BACK to the gear they used in the 70's and hybrids thereof.
But, for me, being at concerts in the 80's 90's and 00's the 80's concerts were more "alive" .. more "atmosphere" .. more "real" then the others .. and now .. I do not think that those will be beaten nor repeated.
Yeah he was not a real KW member and I guess that Karl knew it well. But they needed a keyboard player quickly. Hilpert was way better, but not this time with this drumming. I even can play the drums on that skill, despite I'm not a drummer. But he was good at rhythm programming and live mixing.
In Computer World the manual drums were too much. This is not really Karftwerk style. This is a techno-disco style. Flür was the best! Later Hilpert was working better without drumsticks. I also prefer Bartos bass lines.
Hard out version!! GRRRRRRRRRRRR! The percussion on Numbers is like a machine gun. Never heard live drums on Computer World before.
Ralf said, “let them have it!”

Computerworld predicted the future and is a classic record. Period.
Love this version, the bass and the drums in computerworld make the song more groovy
Fernando and Fritz did a splendid perfomance in Computer World!
Ironically, Numbers was never one of their bigger hits but it is one of their most famous because so many Black club and DJ artists sampled it.
Because of the song.
this bass line on Computer world o.o
Bassline by Fernando Abrantes.
How can they stand still with that machine gun beat killing EVERYONE!!?
Damn Fritz, you're going to kill that drum machine.

Frank M it’s still played live in 2020, it’s just extremely streamlined and most is played In sequencer fashion
Wspaniałe, że są takie nagrania, również obrazu.
Florian forgot the numbers, Fritz reached over and helped out. Fernando is next to Ralf and was playing all lead melodys, he was not involved in this little accident.
I don't think that Ralf gave him the melodies from his own hand. It's more possible that Fernando was played only the bass part as Karl did.
i bought this tape as VHS around 92 at Tokyo. This is the bootleg live tape and quality is horrible, but performance is so cool.
Computer World album is a master piece is in the whole electronic music !
the beats in this are amazing!!!
I was at this Sheffield gig all those years ago and if i remember correctly, 95% of the audience were glued to their seats for the whole gig !!! was a strange venue for them to play !!!
No Karl here. From left to right: Ralf Hutter, Fernando Abrantes, Fritz Hilpert, Florian Schneider.
I was in the Audience. Wow thankyou for this
4:59 - Computer World

The Godfathers of elektronic Music
mientras otros estaban con su sonido ochentero, Kraftwerk ya estaban con el sonido de electrónica de los 2000s
fantastic !
Brilliant!!!!

@lobsterbox20 Nah, Karl is next to Ralf. Fernando is turning it on.
I was there!
Maravillosos
the atmosphere is better than an acid house night.
1:15
_Florian full head-on-clouds XD_
RIP FLORIAN
@@AceRuiner1979 _I cried so much yesterday knowing his death :(_
yo thats fucking haaaarrrrrrrrrdddddddd havent herd this before
@Harcix I think they should bring the live drums back - at least for some tracks
Long live the power plant!!!
Old School hard beats
1:15, someone (likely fernando) forgot to turn the numbers on, Karl reaches over and does it for them.
Florian forgot it, and Fritz was helping him.
excellent.
Oh yes it was ... back in 1981!
;o)
If you were lucky you were there! :oD
80's & 90's we're the best live concerts. 80's pure analogue and 90's digital revolution, everything after that was boring
I was at this gig! 17 years old!
But, for me, being at concerts in the 80's 90's and 00's the 80's concerts were more "alive" .. more "atmosphere" .. more "real" then the others .. and now .. I do not think that those will be beaten nor repeated.
最高!!
Abrantes danced too much.
+Eduardo Rivera One of the reasons he got sacked.
Eduardo Rivera agreed
But look at fritz 🤔

@mobynick99 I was there too!
Your′s opinion is law.
