Thanks for watching, liking and subscribing! Will you be checking out Super Dungeon Maker? If your a regular, let me know what you think of the updated format, just constant dialogue and no breaks for music/titles of section. Cheers all!
Nintendo is really dropping the ball and has been for years in not making their very own Zelda maker. Glad to see someone picking up the mantle and I’ll be awaiting further updates before purchasing but o am excited for the future of this title. Great coverage!!!
Not to encourage fiscal irresponsibility, but if everybody "awaits further updates before purchasing" then there will be no updates because nobody will have bought the game.
This game just screams updatable and expandable. Now just to see if a community can arise to warrant that. Would be cool to be able to add NPC dialogue. Even if it’s not dynamic, maybe they always say the same thing. Could still be cool. But mostly referring to different skins and obstacles etc. A game like this is really gonna depend on activity.
Absolutely spot on review. I'd also been anxiously awaiting this one, and don't really have anything to add to what you said. The game clearly has loads of potential, but just feels a bit... unfinished, or lacking, at this point in time. A short time into it, all I could think was how I'd rather be playing Super Mario Maker 2. That said, if they refine a few features, add a few new ones, include a couple more game modes (I personally love endless mode in SMM2, as well as the unlockable outfits), this really could be something special. I've put it away for the time being, and will check back in a few months to see what's changed.
Looks interesting. I'll keep my eyes on this game. Maybe they will add more stuff to it in the future. Make it better and all that. Thanks for the review!
From watching a stream of the game, two major issues stand out to me: 1. The game crashed four times while building, which would also cause all water to glitch. This something I'd expect DURING Early Access, not AFTER. 2. The level browsing options are incredibly lackluster. "Most Popular" is simply a "rich get richer" scenario that will perpetually show the same levels because the most played levels will continue getting more plays by being there. There is no way to locate levels by tags, difficulty, length, or even likes. That makes it hard to find NEW good levels and it's not very motivating to create if your dungeons quickly become undiscoverable aside from out-of-game level sharing. For contrast, Levelhead released out of Early Access with level search filters, a marketing system, random playlists, a more powerful editor and a LONG campaign. It was developed by a similarly small indie studio. It had its limitations but did not feel like an Early Access that needed tons of work upon release.
Unfortunately ever since the first Mario maker game people have begged for a Zelda one and now we finally get one. It feels ok at best now with free add ons or people making great stuff will help it.
$16 at the launch discount feels like a fair price but I can't help but think this game won't get enough love and therefore not have enough skilled dungeon makers uploading content regularly to keep up with replayability. Hopefully I'm wrong and this thing blows up but for now it's just getting added to the wishlist.
Something like this would only work if it was Zelda. Mario Maker gets tons and tons and tons of levels because it's Mario. This is pretty niche. I love MM but I don't build, I just play.
Holy Hell, how the F%#& do you screw up the frame rate in a top-down 2D game? They (the developers) better patch their game up because if they drop the ball, I definitely won't be buying a 2D game with choppy frame rates. So here It's all too bad too... I really wanted to play this game asap.
Isn't this like a year old early access game on PC? There should already be enough community content. No idea if waiting for more makes sense.. I think I'll pass.
It has a good premise, just needs to take it up a few levels to reach its full potential. While I did play Mario Maker 2, I quickly lost interest so I will be skipping this one.

Also I really don’t like that 5fps sword animation please no my eyes
Thanks for the video Alex. Really enjoy your channel for gaming news/reviews.
I've been looking forward to this one but maybe it needs to sit on the wishlist for a patch or two.
Thanks for checking this out! I was instantly interested but hesitant when it wasn't a first party game.
Alex I really appreciate your total honesty! I was on the fence about it and I think I'll wait until more content is added

It looks really interesting, just too limited currently
it doesnt has any main story except build right? im watching this title for future steam sale
Yeah no story, just build and play what’s out there
With the pits it's not really trial and error because the bottomless pits are darker
I am keen on this game as I wanted Nintendo to do a Zelda marker for years now. I can wait for a sale and hopefully by then it will have new content
A game like this had SO much potential, but it only made use of a small amount of it.

I barely have time to go on a switch adventure, let alone make one. Not for me! But uh....cool..I guess. For like the minecraft/mario maker crowd. 😊
We need Zelda Maker!

i want to get this game but like you said the lack of content to keep me playing for more is why i haven’t bought it yet

I won't probably get it for now, the game seems really interesting tho.
But why does it have to be on Switch?? ; _ ;
This a "shleepy game" for me. Hope they update this more down the road.
