But I got the money back in a week. Your bank should not have allowed this. There is a way you can turn your card off. Turn it on when you need it and turn it back off.
Ryan, the issuing card company, Visa, Mastercard or American Express should support you in this matter. I know it’s hard but be positive and patient. You should be made whole

Exactly. Banks and credit card companies have fraud/risk management departments for this type of situation. Ryan should be covered, depending on the terms of his contract with the issuing card company. If not, there are still plenty of actions he can take to work it out with the creditor. He will need to pursue it with them though. My mother always says, "The squeaking wheel gets the oil." Squeak loudly, Ryan.

The banking regulations require the bank to “make Ryan whole,” put the money back in Ryan’s account while they (the bank) attempts to recoup the money from the fraudulent merchant.
My number one suggestion right now would be to go through and change all of your passwords this includes your email address and any accounts that you have just in case they have access into that. Add uppercase, lowercase and symbols in there as well to make it more difficult. I really do hope that you're able to file a police report and have this track down because that's huge and I wish you absolutely every success in this.

I'm so sad to hear this, Ryan. My son has had this happen twice for large amounts....well, it's large for him. He has multiple disabilities and gets money from Social Security (USA). It took a long time to build it up, then, in one moment, it was taken. Long story short, after the bank investigated, they found it was taken out from other areas of the world. It was obvious we had not been there, which the bank could see. The funds were returned to his account by the bank. It only took a few days. I wish the same speedy conclusion for you as well. It may feel like a hopeless situation, but don't give up your wonderful positive attitude because of it. For what it's worth, tons of hugs headed your way.

Here in the US we have FDIC with our banks federal deposit insurance corporation which means if something goes wrong we get our money back. Do you guys have something like that over there? Please don't let this get you down our bank accounts have been hacked a couple of times but thank God we were able to get our money back! My eye Dr had all their records hacked last year. This year my hospital's records were hacked. Then I found charges on my credit card I didn't make. Each medical agency provided one years protection. Hi Ryan. I, too, have had my credit cards compromised. The credit card company canceled my card immediately and denied the fraudulent purchases. My own bank account was also compromised. The thief installed a skimmer on the ATM, so the thief had both numbers on the card. Scary! I hope that you get your funds returned to you. Good luck. ❤
The bank should be responsible for releasing this money to those crooks. Anytime the bank sees that amount go out it should be flagged.

Yes the bank is responsible for releasing the money! I had identified theft a few years ago and it took me 2 years to sort it out!! So sorry this happened to you! Don’t feel defeated! It happens unfortunately! It just makes you feel so bad!

Hi Ryan. I, too, have had my credit cards compromised. The credit card company canceled my card immediately and denied the fraudulent purchases. My own bank account was also compromised. The thief installed a skimmer on the ATM, so the thief had both numbers on the card. Scary! I hope that you get your funds returned to you. Good luck. ❤
