I'm sure I'm missing out, but I play to get away from screens, so I avoid games that require an app. I like to know that I can still play even if my phone's dead, the Wi-Fi is down, or zombies are on the increase.
If the app is just assisting and not the whole game... I love app narration. Or assistance like done in Alchemists or with Gloomhaven. XCom was app heavier but excellent. I am ok with apps as long as it supports the game experience I think. :)
Thanks for the reassurance at the end! I was nervous about my soul's integrity with this one. Your videos are always amazing and I appreciate the small jokes... I will try to avoid chuckling in a deep voice the next time I am the devil... muahahahaha
I generally love CGE games, great rulebooks, nice art and polished gameplay. I'm a little worried about the components here though, are the "battlements" sturdy?
@@GamingRulesVideos thanks for the answer and great video as always. I'm intrigued by this game, and what the strategy is for different roles. The cultist wants to sell souls to the devil, but can never get any back. So you have to collect angel wings to buy indulgences? Interesting, would love to see a basic strategy guide.
Are any of the guesses that come out on round 5 locked without any other requirements or do they follow the same requirement in round 3 where they also need at least 2 guesses of the same player for it to be locked in round 5?
Many thanks for another great 'how to play' video Paul! After a another view of the video I am starting to form the opinion that this game favours more a turn by turn tactical gameplay as long as you keep the Inquisitors happy rather than a strategic long term engine builder, as -I think- there are too many things happening to keep up with. I may be wrong of course. I would expect the latter (strategic character of gameplay) on a 2 to 3 hour game. What is your opinion on that matter please?
Thanks for the comment. I've only played the game once myself, and that was a learning game where I ended on negative points, so I'm not the best person to give an informed opinion on things like strategy. But yeah, I think it is very much a turn by turn thing. You can't really plan too much.
@@GamingRulesVideos Thank you so much for the reply! I understand a game such as this that involves a number of different mechanisms needs to be played more than a few times to be able to comprehend it's character and how 'it wants to be played' better. Kind regards!
I don't think I have ever stopped watching a video faster than this one. All it took was hear Paul say "This is a game for exactly four players..." Hilarious, simply hilarious! PS. I liked the video as always Paul, but this is a game I will never even bother to read its rules!
The game is all about doing deals. You need resources to build stuff, so if you get a really good offer from the Devil, but they want a piece of your sould in return, you sometimes want to make that trade.
How do you feel about games with app support?
I'm on it: ISS vanguard, Destinies, My father's Work...
Alchemists is one of my favorites. So I’ve become more open to them.

Thank you for this amazing tutorial!!
Thanks! First ever super thanks!
I’ve missed your How to Play videos. I prefer these over your play throughs as they are more succinct. Hope you do more.
I have 10 more planned. But spread out over the next 12 months.
@@GamingRulesVideos Sounds like a plan. 👍🏾
What a great tutorial. A very complex game that takes a few watches to learn but it makes sense after that. Many thanks.
Thanks for the kind words.
Loved the Curtains also !!!! I think they are a major hit !
Someone at CGE did those transition scenes for me :)
Thank you for a wonderful tutorial! Can’t wait to add this to my collection!
Looking forward to a playthrough of this.
Thank you Paul for the Tutorial ! It is exemplary, highlighting such an interesting game ! You made all that simple for us !!! Thank you again
legendary how to play Paul!
Exceptional content as always
Looks very cool to me, will definitely check it out
An excellent tutorial ! Thank you Paul
Amazing teaching video. Thank you very much.
Glad it helped.
Unlike the Devil, when you Deal with Gaming Rules!, you come out a Winner!
Thank you for this tutorial, it is very helpful as always!
Happy to help
Perfect explanation, thank you very much
Thanks!
It’s very useful as always. Thanks!
I played this at Gen Con. The app looks way better. It was fun.
What an amazing tutorial....
Me: I'd sell my soul to the devil to figure out how to play this game.

Awesome video!!! Thanks a lot
nice video!
Really nice video!!!
Nice one.

I've not seen the final copy of the game, so not sure.

@@AnaIvanovic4ever I've played once and ended up on negative points, so I definitely can't help you with any strategy :)
Cultist can buy the souls from mortals.
@@radekbx thanks, I rewatched the video and saw it as well, at 12:20

oh gosh. I'll be honest, I've not played the game since last November, so I'm not sure I could answer. Suggest asking on BGG.
It is in the sweet spot : Advancing the game without taking out the actual game-play
There is A LOT going on in this game!
Yep. Not a light game

I have no plans to at the moment. Too many games to fit into the schedule

37 minutes. That's because of the asymmetrical aspects? :)
a little, but it is a complex game.
@@GamingRulesVideos Great overview. One of the games that really interest me this year.
Why would anyone sell a piece of their soul?
