Bobcat T770 Quits Me On The Second Job!!🤬🤬

  • Well....great! About four hours into this job and the Bobcat died and won't start! I'm beginning to think I need to take it out back and shoot it in the head to put it out of it's misery! 😲🤬🤦‍♂️
    Now what?! After some diagnosing I've decided it's not picking up fuel because the primer bulb is sucking air. I was lucky enough to use the hydraulic release inside the cab to lower the loader arms so I could get out of the door. How am i going to get it loaded on the trailer to get it out of here? Looks like the 850 is gonna have to save the day!

  • @marionstorm9004

    Also, a tooth bucket makes a night and day difference digging dirt! Rent or borrow a tooth bucket. You'll never attempt another job like this without one. It's easier on the machine too!
    I'd probably buy a new bucket and not used. Used buckets are hard to find and usually are way too worn for the money. Tooth bars kind of work, but their geometry is not perfect for cutting grade. Nothing beats a dedicated tooth bucket for cutting and holding grade with a skidsteer. As a former salesman, I'd recommend renting a bucket for the next job and get the saleman to apply 100 percent of the rent to the purchase. It'd be a good deal for both of you.

    • @Dirtdaddy953
      @Dirtdaddy953  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, this bucket came with it and is actually in good shape, but they ran it without a bolt on cutting edge and it wiped the weld on out. So I’m planning on buying a tooth bucket and fixing this one to use for a final grade.
      I’ve spent a lot on this little sucker already so I’m trying to be careful and not spend a lot right now. I’m planning on getting several attachments as time goes on. Thanks!

    We feel the same about skid steers! I have run a few, was told by several people that I was really good on one, but I have never liked them. They have there place but I've done all my projects with my CASE 850H, 590 backhoe and CX145 excavator. Everyone and their brother hauls skid steers and mini ex's around in my town but just not my cup of tea. Hope you get the bobcat back going soon Sir.

    Invest in a 4-1 bucket and you will be using that skid for everything. I’m running 7 rubber tracked skids and they all have 4-1 buckets. And on the bobcats they use to have problems with the pickup tube in the fuel tanks and the rubber bulb sometimes will get small pinholes in them

    It’s unfortunate that the skid steer is having issues, the thing is that to this point it isn’t catastrophic appearing anyway. If I remember right you said your friend you got the machine from had medical issues so some of the issues may be from him being unable to take care of it properly, not necessarily a fault, it is what it is, I still think once you get thru these issues you’re going to end up with a pretty decent machine, hang in there, you’ll win, I have no doubt, thanks for the video sir.

    In both videos with that machine, it blows a fair amount of smoke when under load. Hopefully it’s just needing new filters but they usually blow white smoke when they need a fuel filter but it looks like black smoke. Hopefully it’s nothing serious but you might want to look into it before it becomes a bigger more expensive issue. Also a tooth bar for the bucket would make a world of difference cutting and grading like you were doing in this video.

    • @Dirtdaddy953
      @Dirtdaddy953  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I had changed all the filters and fluids right after I got it. With it over fueling it has to be an injector/injectors. Most definitely going to stop running it before it wipes a cylinder out. Yeah, this bucket is what came with it. I'm planning on getting a tooth bucket as soon as I can. Thanks buddy!

  • @sassafrasvalley1939
    @sassafrasvalley1939 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Larry, is it possible that the smoke, excess fuel use and dead engine are all from the same cause? It would be a good thing to stone three birds with one throw!!!
    I wonder if the owner subcontracted all those jobs himself? It’s obvious that someone made decisions about how deep to put the house, where to put the septic tank and how high to place the air unit. A decent contractor or engineer would have taken the lay of the land into consideration.
    There’s a million dollar home down the road from me that backs up to a hillside. They dug the basement to be 10’ deep. Then the lockdown came and prices hit the sky. The owner decided they would save a little money by going with 9’ walls. As a result the uphill side has no place to drain… air, septic, propane and electric supply were all installed before they called Brandon to landscape it… but, the high price of all the other materials had eaten up any budget to recut the hill for drainage. He did what he could with no guarantee against erosion or basement moisture.
    Once you plant a building in the wrong place, mistake compound!
    I hope the Bobcat gets well without too much expense!

      Hey Dave! I think the builder he used had dirt guys that he normally uses. Probably not the way I would of done things but to each his own.
      I think you’ll find in the upcoming videos that I find a fix (not a cheap one mind you) but a fix none the less.
      Yeah, you have one shot at getting a basement or crawl space on the right grade. If you don’t, it can wreak havoc for the rest of the build. Thanks buddy!

    You seem to have eliminated most tank or fuel supply line issues. I would guess some kind of lift pump problem. Here the dealer can be your friend. Take the model and serial number down and talk to your local dealer service rep. Bobcats don't use that many different engines in their product line and dealerships are good about knowing commom problems, If it is a lift pump they can tell you if it is internal or external to the injection pump and how to fix the problem. Again , there are lots of those machines out in the field so they'll probably know what is wrong by your decription. Good dealer service shops don't charge for information. Get all info you can from them. It's good business for both parties. Good luck!

      Yes, I sold Case and Bobcat Equipment from 1983 to 1995@@Dirtdaddy953 . Helping customers understand their compact (read no room to work on) equipment maintenance and operation was a big part of the job. I welcomed it as a way to build relationships with my customers, some of whom (such as homebuilders) had never owned a piece of equipment. Being raised on a farm, I always liked to work on my own stuff, but sometimes I need some machine specific information. I still own a Bobcat 763 skidsteer and a Volvo EC220E excavator. Putting that much fuel through the cylinders I don't see how it could run at all and if it did looks like the black smoke would be boiling out constantly under load or not. When you checked the oil was it really runny? Did it smell like fuel? Could be the tremendous amount of pressure it takes to ignite the fuel and with that kind of volume coming into the cylinders might be forcing the fuel past the rings and into the crankcase. If so, the oil should be showing about two gallons over full now. But then the question is why is it sending that amount of fuel through the injector pump and injectors?? I hope it's not the injector pump. Please keep us updated. Here is wishing that you can get it straightened out with the least amount of cash outlay.

    • @Dirtdaddy953
      @Dirtdaddy953  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey James! No, the engine oil is fine and is at the right level. Because the oil hadn't been changed in forever, it turned black in about 5 min. I'm going to run the oil about 75 hours then change it again. Thats why I stopped running it to keep it from washing a cylinder out. It's going to be a process of elimination and I'll keep everyone updated. Thanks!
