Vitamin D deficiency can also cause hair breakage, hair loss, and non-scarring alopecia. Vitamin D deficiency is also endemic in African people and diaspora because of avoiding sun exposure while actually needing more sun than people of European heritage or ethnicities with light complexions. In addition vitamin D fights inflammation. Inflammation also reduces hair quality. May this information bless someone who needs it. Feel free to research this yourself.
@@SeunOkimi💯💯💯 your methods WORK! I'm looking forward to the tutorial for this hairstyle as well 😍 I love kinky straight weave but weave literally kills my leave-out 😖
@@Chillinmesoftly-ft6mshii! Just wondering if you have any advice or tips for hair growth since it’s worked for you. My sister is 13 and has been really depressed with her hair as it hasn’t grown. Is there anything or advice or tips and routine you could share! Would be so appreciative!
I learned to braid using my daughter's Barbie head, my 9 year old granddaughter started doing the same thing last year. Practice, experimenting, and TH-cam university has saved me so much money and helped me to feel more comfortable doing my own protective styles and wearing my natural 4c hair. Your tutorials are awesome.
I’ve noticed this year when I do my hair and my granddaughters hair the whole box braids or what have you whatever they’re calling them now I’m free braid their natural hair only and then I go and with the extension hair I don’t add too much. It won’t be too heavy on every other day after school I hit it with spray, water and olive oil at the end of where their hair their own hair is in squish it in then I put a cream leave in and squish it, this has helped us retain every inch of hair. I just wanted to throw that out there for anyone. This has been my experience game changer.
Also! What took me yearsssss to realize with protective styles is the type of hair you use. If the added hair you use is rough, the kanelalon hair can cut through your own hair. So Marley twists or boho braids are cute but depending on the hair, the strands can be rough and tangle up, cut through or dry out your own hair strands
What helps me is hair grease, it creates a barrier between your natural hair and synthetic hair, it gives my hair slip so even after take down , 3 months later my hair feels moisturized and the synthetic hair just feels smoothened. I moisturize and seal every few weeks and maybe wash once or twice during the wear.
Yeah this is exactly why when I do a true pro style, I use yarn, like crochet knitting yarn. 100% acrylic is when I use and I find that my breakage is quartered than when I use Marley or any hair from the beauty shop.
@bobokissa2502 Wool has been known to dry and break our hair! That's why people put satun bones in those wool French baret hats and silk scarves around the color of wool coats! The constant friction of wool against Afro hair causes breakage! When I do my African threading, I haven't done it yet, I'll use the weave thread to wrap around my hair to look like two strand twists! Quite a few ladies have videos on the Africa threading that that looks like two strand twists! They used wool and acrylic yarn, but I suggested using weave thread to the lady using wool yarn and she said she might give it a try!😊

God bless you 😊 your video makes me love our African hair so much more. My problem is staying consistent I could be taking care of my hair gently for 3-5 months then the next month I mess up by neglecting my hair for a while or being rough with them or having a bad experience with a hairstylist because I was too tired to braid my own hair, then it’s like all the previous effort was for nothing 😢 sometimes I literally pray to God to protect my hair when I don’t have the energy to take care of them properly because it’s not always easy

Wow Seun, its amazing to see your hair! I remember watching your video when you cut your hair and saying to myself that I'm going on this journey with you... then you hid from us and boom! You're a great teacher and I can't wait to support your products, even though I live in the UK ❤🇬🇭🇬🇧
My hair grows and retains length with making sure I clean and moisturize my hair well before French braiding it for crochet braids that I usually wear for two months at a time. I don't cut my ends often either. I have found that dying my hair dries my hair, so I just use rinses now.
@SeunOkimi. Thanks for updating on these important nuggets Seun. I find I take longer styling my hair sometimes because I enjoy the process now, - so I take my sweet time being gentle, nurturing and loving the health of my hair, it feels therapeutic.
TYSM. I didn’t realize I was having health concerns until I started focusing on growing my hair, I was deficient in so many vitamins and nutrients. I now take supplements but needed a consistent regimen. Oh and you remind me of the singer Ari Lennox. Two BEAUTIFUL 😍
All of this is facts! I wish I knew all of this when I first when natural. I did so much unnecessary manipulation from dyeing, silk presses, and TOOLS. Tools are such a big culprit for breakage. I stopped using a knock off Felicia Leatherwood brush and I've seen a huge difference in my density. Now I just flat twist and leave my hair alone for a week.
Omgod CANT WAIT for the sewing tutorial. I really want a break and do something different so this is a godsend. Thanks for the videos your hair looks healthy and gorgeous!
You're totally Godsent. I got really sad today thinking of how to care better for my hair as it breaks so bad & is barely retaining any length. Then your video popped up. Thank youuuu❤
One thing i pray for God to give me is patience when finger detangling while putting in my protective styles and taking them out. When i was putting in the current protective style i have, half way through i got tired of finger detangling bcoz it was taking quite long (my arms were aching, i was also doing tiny mini twists), so i used a comb on the other side of my head. I can tell u know that my hair on my right is considerably shorter than that on my left. I have seen it for myself, ive felt bad, and i will try better next time😊
The thing with me is that my mom cannot allow me to spend an entire day on my hair, she says i need to study. So i would always do my hair in the evening. It took me 3 days to put in the mini twists i have

YES, black women need to know that their hair is ALWAYS GROWING! Many do not know how to care correctly for their hair to retain length. I have been on my new hair journey since April 2023, and my hair is the healthiest it has ever been. I have had long hair in the past, but my hair has never been this healthy. My hair has grown from shoulder length to past my waist in 17 months. I think your natural hair is so beautiful. Not sure why you are wearing a weave in this video. But to each his/her own.👍😊
Thank Seun. What I hear and understand from you the most is be intentional about the love and care of your hair. ❤❤I look forward to you hair line launch! I was love seeing your journey. I love finger detangling as well! ❤🎉

Yeah! I’ve learned to finger detangle with some conditioner when taking out my protective styles and I’m actually seeing some growth! It takes longer but it’s nothing good streaming show or a few movies can’t fix. I try to make it a fun self care day haha
Thank you, Beautiful Seun! 😊 I have always been able to keep my hair a decent length. A year and a half ago, I got diagnosed with a serious illness and started some rough meds. On top of that, I was getting married. 😖My hair went from waist length to collar bone. I got a keratin treatment in order to keep me from having to manipulate it as much. That, combined with biweekly alternating protein and DC treatments has gotten me back past bra strap! I also started WORKING OUT, lost 50 lbs, and discovered Viviscal, which has made my hair thicker than ever! I grew my hair this time and only wore a protective style twice! I only use the silicone shampoo scalp scrubber as a “brush” if not my fingers. I wear my hair in a clip or satin scrunchie when chilling at home. This is getting long lol, so I’ll just say that I can personally attest to every single one of your tips. Thank you for the love you show to our community! ❤
On average hair grows 1/2 inch per month. However, there is MUCH you can do to promote faster hair growth. My hair is growing an inch a month easy and it is because of how I am caring for my hair which has it double the normal rate of growth.
Basically top tip from this video for me is learn how to do my own hair! This is such a good idea because the person who does my braids usually blows out my hair & it can hurt & when she braids sometimes towards the front. (I should tell her tbh so my bad). And I could find another person who doesnt blow dry before but my mum wouldnt agree.
Wow I need to try this because my goodness it was just yesterday cut your hair….I cut mine in 2015 and I see no progress whatsoever compare to your at all. Thanks for all the tips
Protective styles have been helpful in growing my hair. A few months ago I sewed down a u part wig and wore it as a protective style and it looked great but I experienced breakage in my nape area from the friction of the back of the wig. I was so discouraged but every time I experience a setback I count it as something new I learned about my hair and I keep moving forward on my hair growth journey lol now I know not to do that and if I do making sure my nape is always moisturized
Lovely hair 😍. My goal is to have my hair in mini twists for the next 6 months...see how that helps because lately it's not only breaking but also shading a lot! Of course I'll wash and deep condition it inbetween weeks but i intend to keep it in twists right after 💯
@ 1:15 🎯 Notice she said avoiding breakage, which isn't healthy (& not) avoiding shedding, which is natural .. like animals shed their fur, so as do we, shed hair. 💯 you teach girl 👏🏾
This was very helpful I really like your videos Seun I’m going to make up a commit to being more gentler with my hair I will report back next year with my results God bless you sis
Hey! When I'm wearing it out I wear it out for like 1-2 weeks before washing again, otherwise, the gap is longer if I am doing other protective styles!!
Ive been only doing my hair in Sundays since March when I got a sew in. Other than that I've been wearing wigs from Amazon and keeping my hair in protective 2 strand twists
I've found that I am able to avoid experiencing this if I don't attempt to detangle may hair when it is dry!! Doing this made a significant difference for me!
Heyy great video, was wondering what's your take on trimming? Do you trim your hair, if so how often? Would you recommend visiting a professional for it or do you think trimming at home is okay? should one trim in the natural state, dusting or after blowdrying? These are a lot of questions, I know sorry😅
The fact that you outgrew my hair twice.. my hair just doesn't respect me 😭

It's not funny sis😂😢

Oh yeah! Will show a tutorial of doing a flat twist WHILE adding extra hair in???
Girl I’m FEENIN for that no leave out sew in tutorial 😩
😆❤️❤️ Yes!! It is out now!!!
@ 1:15 🎯 Notice she said avoiding breakage, which isn't healthy (& not) avoiding shedding, which is natural .. like animals shed their fur, so as do we, shed hair. 💯
you teach girl 👏🏾

How often do you wash your hair?
So I'm only doing the leave out every Sunday
My biggest problem is the fairy knots.
Sameee
Same
Same, the only time I don't have them is when my hair is blow dried
@@a.dria_nakeep your hair blow dryed/ stretched
I've found that I am able to avoid experiencing this if I don't attempt to detangle may hair when it is dry!! Doing this made a significant difference for me!
Never connected yoga to hair growth and Ive been doing yoga for a while. This explains so much.
Yes!!!
Heyy great video, was wondering what's your take on trimming? Do you trim your hair, if so how often? Would you recommend visiting a professional for it or do you think trimming at home is okay? should one trim in the natural state, dusting or after blowdrying?
These are a lot of questions, I know sorry😅
I want to know too!!
I am going to try the apply this method to loc
Yes sweet sister ❤❤❤❤❤❤over the years I’ve watched you’ are simply beautiful inside and out ❤❤❤❤full of wisdom ❤
